In Skill Ups review he unalived a Japanese girl who was a maid as Yasuke, she was a civilian and the game did not punish him at all the desync warning didn't even pop up So if the reason why hunting is no longer a thing because they're worried about being insensitive to the Japanese then Ubisoft really is as dumb as we think they are.
Eh, I want to be able to do that in the game tbh. Also, they did purposefully add a 'servant' 'çlass' to the game, which they've not had before. Shows as Orange on the targeting thing, rather than Red, or Grey... what i'm saying is that servant girl was purposefully designed to be a killable character. I am unsure if the same scenario would apply to a standard grey NPC. Personally, I do prefer a situation where we have these 'nebulous' characters roaming around, where they could potentially be a security alarm, or not... and we have the choice of how we might deal with them. I wouldn't mind if we could kill civilians either... but whatever, i'm just explaining the mechanic as it pertains to the Orange tier of NPC. They have health bars, are an obstacle in the world etc. I think it's in line with the kind of honour and loyalty vibe of the setting.
I think it really depends on who these characters are. If Yasuke and Noe are not good people why should they only be bad in cutscenes. But I definitely think it’s a shame you can’t hunt animals. That is honestly no real reason. But personally being able to kill an animal but do nothing with the corpse is dumb af.

GoT did the complete, more "realistic" stealthy samurai experience. Sekiro did the complete fantasy stealthy ninja/samurai experience. Ubi was already on a losing battle of comparations, limiting Yasuke to a combat only guy and making him borderline invincible is not gonna help since you're neglecting the gameplay alternatives of stealth and parkour and offering a underwhelming experience by making combat too easy.
Another YTer playing safe,Afraid to tell Devs they suck to their face, particularly Luke,He likes everything he plays early access,Then when it comes out he does his Revised video
What bothers me the most is the fact that you have this guy walking around in battlefield armor climbing crates, awkwardly trying to climb castles and running around in villages. Why on earth doesn't he just take it off and wears normal samurai clothes? This is not an epic battlefield scenario. All footage we saw of him was walking around casually, coming across one or two random foes every now and then. He's just so out of place.
Because Ubisoft doesn't want to. They want to force you to play Yasuke on the ground like Hulk like Eivor to destroy things and just deal with any anger management issues. They need to please the hack and slash players, the FOR HONOUR players, which includes healy armouring and lots of clash. It's a marketing game about Assassins and NOT an Assassin's Creed game anymore.
@Myrmidons I'm also a hack and slash fan and I also like For Honor. But I don't find this appealing at all. Looks so basic, almost like you're on autopilot. Judging his gameplay by hack and slash standards makes it look pathetic to be honest. If you look at all the amazing hack and slash games that came out in recents years and the ones that are still coming, AC Shadows already pales in comparision. If Ubisoft would give us a great stealth game and a great hack and slash game all in one package, that would be amazing. But thr keyword here is 'great'. 'Ubisoft' and 'great' is a contradiction in itself.
They went through all this to add Yasuke. Changed how they told these stories and how you interact with history to fit him into the story. And then made him functionally worse than any other AC protagonist. Hopefully they just weren't showing everything and he has a more fun kit but if not he will be unplayed and it'll be the Naoe game which will make everything they went through pointless.

having to wait real time to do certain things in game is not how immersion works. I fucking hate when companies force me to play in a certain way or don't allow my character to "sleep" as a way to pass time or fast travel or anything. no game will ever do immersion as well as RDR2 did. you feel like you are in that world but not trapped in there and that makes it perfect it

I never saw it as a big deal because I just assumed it followed the rest of the AC games.
He was a samurai. It takes 30 seconds of googling to find this out! It's on the first line of his Wikipedia article, and there are a bunch of articles written by historians who specialise in that time period explaining that he was a samurai. Valhalla was pretty amazing was it perfect no but it was a great follow up to odyssey that definitely had a lot of heart and really tried to change a lot for the better. Various World events, loot was re worked combat and leveling was re worked. It was one of the first games I played on the new gen that actually felt next gen. Idk gamers can sometimes be overly analytical about the most trivial and silly things that the average person doesn’t even think about and it comes off as if their whiny babies that can never be pleased. Ubisoft is far from perfect but no one can say they are not trying to change up the way they do their thing. Avatar is another great game they just put out. i think its quite clever from the developers to those that dont like to play like a assassin and want to play a brute samurai well they can and also opens the game to those players that have maybe never played a AC game before now they can play i think thats very smart

I personally like the idea of having two different characters with their own unique play styles. I will however play as Naoe but when I just wanna run around and kill some time playing as yasuke seems pretty cool.
Trying to incorporate both fantasies might sound cool on paper but it would be roughly the same as offering an armoured knight as a character in a western setting. I mean sure, some people like to be the tank in armour instead of the rogue. But they built their game world more for the rogue. The fact that people romanticise the samurai is not a good enough reason to dilute your core concept.
Stumbled upon this channel because your thumbnail made you look like Tony Angelo, the car guy. My gaming and automotive interests colliding a bit there.
For the people wondering, "Can you play as the girl all the time?" The answer is probably: No* but mostly yes. Very similar to Syndicate. Somewhere around 80-95% you were free to choose, until the DLC where spoiler, they kill Jacob, so obviously you can't play as him anymore. The other 5-20% you were forced to temporarily play as one character or the other, for a bit during the tutorial or for certain content. Yeah, and they could've basically had Naoe be... Yuna? And Yasuke like Jin. Have him LEARN stealth and parkour, and maybe remove some armor later on... OR to make it EVEN BETTER... Yasuke DEVELOPS AS YOU CHOOSE. You like to go around stealthing and parkouring? He removes armor to get better at that and is worse at head-on fights. You like him to play differently? Maybe more for roleplaying than gameplay purposes? Then he doesn't. And he can't really escape from a fight by climbing a wall or anything.

Yasuke is just Token from South Park
They went through all this to add Yasuke. Changed how they told these stories and how you interact with history to fit him into the story. And then made him functionally worse than any other AC protagonist. Hopefully they just weren't showing everything and he has a more fun kit but if not he will be unplayed and it'll be the Naoe game which will make everything they went through pointless.

The fact that the game has been delayed twice and there's no clear evidence on what exactly the devs were working on, it means that the pre orders were low. You can do historical fiction and be culturally sensitive at the same time.
It’s a game about a fictional creed of assassins. Not exactly a historical documentary. Ac games have always had real setting but the characters were never real. It’s fiction who cares if he wasn’t a real samurai. Jin Sakai wasn’t a real guy but people aren’t complaining about historical accuracy there.

What annoys me is that the "he isn't really a samurai" narrative originated from the far right who are just unhappy when a black person is featured in anything at all, and then the internet ran with it and propagated this false narrative without once stopping to look up if it's actually true.
But isn't it culturally insensitive to use an African Jesuit as a Samurai? In a country that is really prideful of everything being 100% Japanese.
I've had enough of the Assassin's Creed playstyle after a million games. It's time to embrace the Samurai way with Ghost of Tsushima style

Trying to incorporate both fantasies might sound cool on paper but it would be roughly the same as offering an armoured knight as a character in a western setting. Is it Yakse or Yasuke (Ya Su Kay)?
