Nikke himself said in the video where he told about the creation process that Discmania has so good line-up that it was difficult to figure out what is missing. His idea behind this disc was to make a faster Tactic that is less stable than MD5. This basically replaced Tactic in his bag, because it is easier to throw especially forehand because it is shallower. Can throw harder with a clean release.
Your videos are so helpful, I appreciated your honesty which I doubt will dissuade anyone from the disc. In my view, anytime you give high marks to any aspect of the disc (even grip or feel), players will retain interest in checking it out and/or purchasing it. I 100% felt the “FINALLY” about when it gets cooler. South Texas (and probably North Texas) courses definitely can be Catch-22’s during the summer. Within a 4-hour radius of Houston, you can go to a scenic course (Turtle Bayou), a desert course (Universal City I think is the name), a haunting wooded course (Ray Guerrero), and a steep hill course (Terramont). If your admiration for the sport survives the fire ants and deadly heat, you’ll be rewarded the rest of the year.
Thanks! I actually love the warm weather, but I'm never going to complain about it dropping to that 75-85° range 👌👌👌 Reviews are interesting because there are very very few "bad discs", just discs that do different things. Ie, I didn't like the Drop at first bc I wanted it to be more OS but now that I've learned it a bit more I think it's great 🤷♂️ Just depends on what you're looking for
Hey Pastor Sean that lives in Kurdistan says hello, he passed through Montana and visited the hotsprings in Hotsprings Montana. We were talking about Discgolf and he mentioned you were great friends !
@@ArmoryDiscGolf it’s touchy for sure, lower torque resistance if you hit it hard flat it can flip over:/ Perhaps the gumminess of the Drop might be a better hand feel also Thanks for the great review!
I've never thrown one and rarely actually SEE other people throwing them, but I hear great things about them on the internet... how would you say it compares vs the Drop? Jarn has more of a Harp hand feel, right?
Nikolas said it was concave which I would like. I had a horny toad by lonestar I liked that was like a A2. The crystals flex hammes zones feel too bulk and turn over so I would like to try one. Not a big fan of the drop artwork wish it was just more clean
Curious how Niklas throws it because he throw his tatics so good. Like too good haha Currently in this slot , I have the zone. And if it is windy or I need a harder fade and less glide and I have toro. Still really learning this slot. Not good at it yet but the zone has been helping. Mainly learning this approach slot for forehand. Normally and usually if I’m going backhand approach than it is aviarx3 all day, which is one of my all time favorite discs.
That was another reason I was surprised it wasn't more OS because it looks like Niklas likes to really crank on that red Tactic I'm like you- prefer discs like this for forehand and a more traditional putter feel for backhand approaches 👌
Based on his video about Drop he replaced Tactic with a Drop, or at least partially replaced. It was designed to be faster Tactic and less stable MD5 and due to shallow profile he gets better release especially in forehand and little more distance than with Tactic. I heard too that this was supposed to be no-glide approach disc when I thought Slammer/Berg etc. but that is not what Niklas had planned.
@@kimmomatikainen1843 yeah I just saw that after watching this. It is cool to know how good he was before he had a disc that he actually designed and wants. Makes me think that potentially his game will only get better.
@@ArmoryDiscGolf yeah seriously. He gets some crazy flex lines already. What do think creator series or players signature lines will continue to do for the sport? Does it make all manufacturers a little more “even” knowing that those slots/discs can exist with every manufacturer?
Based on Niklas he wanted it to be a shallow = faster Tactic and less stable than MD5. You can watch Niklas' video about the disc and there is a video about creation process. I don't remember if it was in Finnish or English.
Not quite a 3 fade. Looks like it flies like my Artemis; beat in ESP Zone. Not really more overstable than a Tactic, just shallower feel. I think they Dropped the ball on this one😮
yeah part of my rambling (that I sped through) was saying I don't think it's a more OS Tactic- if you've got a beat up Exo one, sure. But as far as the Razor Claws go, I think this is the same or even a touch more neutral. It's definitely got stability though- I have limited experience with the Artemis but I remember hyzer flipping it even on backhands
@@ArmoryDiscGolf hmm, that's surprising about hyzer-flipping an Artemis 🤷 but maybe you're big arm, for me they have Tactic stability, a step more overstable than the most stable Envy's, but not quite Zone. I like the more shallow approach discs as a Tactic,Slammer, Harp type seem to catch on the release, causing the bogey 😂
Yeah this slot has always been in between for me. I think if I started throwing Zones before I found Pigs I would probably prefer it, but after so many years with the Pig I highly prefer its lack of glide for approaches
I don't have much experience with the Caiman so it's hard for me to say one way or another. The Caiman and Gator have always felt like midranges to me, whereas things like the Drop (and Zone, A2, etc) feel like approach discs, if that makes sense
@@ArmoryDiscGolf yeah numbers wise the Caiman says it a little fast and more overstable and it does say mid range so i guess it wasnt the best comparison but the Caiman does have a smaller diameter than most mids so for me its never really felt fully like a mid.
A better comparison would be to a p3x, not a tactic. Definitely looks beefier than my tactic. Tactics are flippy in comparison to Zones to begin with. worry more about your form than the colors that the disc comes in. ;)
I really hope people that are new to disc golf don’t run into you, there’s absolutely no point in commenting on a disc review video to trash someone’s form😂😂
I disagree- I suppose if you have an Exo Tactic that could be true, but then we'd need to compare it to a JB Zone or similar or it's apples to oranges And I'll die on the hill that #orangediscsflybetter sooo
Tactics are not flippy bro… tactic is also way more overstable than a p3x and the drop so your statements make no sense. Unless you use beat up cheap exo plastic. The drop goes in between the p3x and tactic in stability.
Tactics are less stable than Zones, generally, but I wouldn't call any of these discs flippy. Also wanting a certain color of a disc is completely independent of formwork. You can do one or the other, both, or neither. Eventually I could see Discmania releasing the Drop in a lot of different plastic types, but it'll have to earn it's way to that. It might be treated like the Razor Claw and only come in limited plastic types, though to be fair the Tactic itself only had about a half dozen plastic types to choose from in the few years it's been out.

I mean, he's not wrong- Discmania's lineup is one of the most solid from top to bottom 👌
Discmania's new color glow plastic is money 🔥🔥
Yessir, I can definitely get down with it
Do they glow as bright and as long as the mvp glow?
Yeah how long does it stay lit/bright?

Discmania from the top rope with a BANGER of a disc. I've been waiting for this for a long time. LET'S GOOO.

Regarding orange. Get a yellow and make a dip/split dye, orange side out. It also does not come in red, so I have the exact same problem.

also similar to the Lat64 Savior
