To your point about the lack of sale, and much as I won't want to disrespect both of them (as obvious as it sounds) - Alden and Gavin aren't as popular as Simon and Eagle when they were on Discmania. I LOVE the Solar Flare don't get me wrong. Have yet to throw the PD2, but its very similar to when you go out and purchase basketball shoes. Do you wan't Michael Jordan's/LeBron's? Or Kyle Kuzma's? It's business, and its a hard pill to swallow when discs aren't able to fly off the shelves.

I bag all 3 and it's fairly simple.. Discmania = for advanced players MVP = gyro gimmick beginner friendly. MVP marketing is smart, they totally simped to the masses to make money. They legit exploited beginners to grow their business and these knuckleheads just don't get it 😂

Thing is about the solar flare, how many do people need of that type of disc. A lot of people might get the same type of flight out of a zone type, or mid or fairway. And if you get them in a premium plastic and beat them in, they will still likely remain stable enough for most ams. I think the discs I buy the most are neutral mids and stable fairways. 6:23 lol and there it is. I haven't been buying any disc for like 6 months mostly because I sold my house in Canada and I am moving to Paraguay. 6:48 I do really like the innova Invictus. I got a used one a few years ago and now I have around 6. But for me, a resistor or a volt fly pretty similar. I do think that I have more confidence with my Invictus. I like that the invictus/pd has more dome.

Personally hate the stamps. Cloudbreaker and sky walkers have been the best stamps in the past year imo. Discmania stamp game has gone down since Simon and eagle leaving

Interesting analysis, but I do think it makes sense. We all know there is a rightsizing decline from the sales during covid. I think a lot of the covid disc golfers, like myself, bought these overstable slots early, since we were influenced by pros in the bags. As I have gotten better, I've been trying to throw with more finesse, and rely less on just hacking over an overstable disc to mask over bad form - less flex shots and more hyzer flips. I used to bag a force/pd2 but don't anymore, I bag a more stable version of the distance driver I'm throwing, such as a TI Zeus, or an overstable cloudbreaker/dd3. For the overstable 9 speed, it's generally a Raptor/FD3/Draco - I'm also not losing or needing to replace them. I tend to lose straighter/flippier distance drivers that can turn in the wind and get carried away more than any of these utility overstable discs.

I backhand Destroyers 470" but with new Swedish S-line PD2 I barely reach 300". I have old Innova made S-line PD2 which is softer and grippier than normal. They are perfect compliment to Halo Destroyers.

Solar Flare seems to have sold quite well , most colors i Horizon sold out fairly fast on Euro store and have been restocked. Both discs are good but they are beef, and a beefy 12-speed such Gravity bomb dont tend to sell out that fast.

It’s literally all in the name. Why else you think discs named Destroyer and Firebird are perennial best-sellers (aside from also being great molds)? Cause they have badass names. Gravity Bomb? Solar Flare??! No thanks. You can look at any manufacturer and tell which molds will be their best-sellers (or flops) based on the names. Dynamic Discs are a great example of a once-great brand who has fallen by the wayside because their disc names never evolved. I will die on this hill.

Ive been playing discgolf for 18 years and ive never met a single person that throws Discmania.

I have a hard time justifying the high prices for discmania plastic, when the market is so saturated with great discs. Once the economy recovers, I might drop some extra money per disc 😂

Gravity Bomb plastic color blends look great! But myself and other players have probably wised up and have a realistic expectation in what they can actually throw well. If they released something like the DD in that plastic, I think it would move better. Or better yet, do a run of the MD1 in that plastic and reinvent the Mind Bender!

I will throw an Enforcer in the bag if it's windy and I'm going to a certain course locally. I always have my custom stamped Felon in the bag, I'd have no problem bagging the FD3, looks great!

Instead of the gravity bomb for the over-stable high speed driver I tend to use a pretty much new royal rive and its done me wonders.

I have enough felons and rives seasoned to different levels that those slots are filled for the next 5 years. I see no reason to buy new molds until my stack of those is gone.

I buy discs based on how they perform, I pay way more attention to reviews I see on RUclips than I do to the players name on the disc. I have 2 star destroyers for my stable to overstable slot. A 168 g for most headwind drives, A max weight for really high wind.

Gavin and crew could win every tournament next year, and still couldn't out sell just one of the O.G. crush boys disc

I bag a Draco in the firebird slot but honestly I never throw it. I have one for the one time it’s too windy for something else. The distance I can throw it is the same as a nice stable buzzz which I feel more comfortable throwing when there is any line to hit.

I'm definitely outside of your customer base, so maybe my perspective would be interesting. I try to buy local, I'm lucky enough to have a local 9 and a local game store I've known for years pick up Innova and MVP, so that's where I try to spend most of my money DG-wise. Content creators as opposed to pros have been more successful in getting me to spend money outside of the local store when they have companies my shop doesn't offer, and they're usually offering discs I can actually throw. For example, I've purchased Bodanza's Sphinx, some of Broderic's discs, and (though he's a pro, puts out content) Bradley William's "Baby Destroyer", 159g Halo Destroyers that I can get actually get out across 300. I understand that Calvin's Destroyers and Gavin's PD2 reflect what they actually throw, and they may be tailored to their specifications, but I'm then surprised that they don't (more frequently) also double up on a disc "for the people" to advertise and try to pick up sales. Gannon's P2x, Barsby's Roadrunners, Simon's Lizottl Hexes, Philo and Bradley's Destroyers "for the people" and so on. Enthusiasts and experienced golfers may very well want the beef, and you probably have an enthusiast base buying from your storefront, but like you said, your Firebirds and PD2s still aren't flying off the shelf. I think and hope that James Conrad is in the absolute perfect spot having the Envy, Detour, and Trail all associated with him, which are all in my noodle-arm bag. All of that to say, pros should have more social media sense (see: Buhr, Harris, Lizotte, Gibson, White) and disc sense for their releases.

I'm not sure how many other feel this way, but it's hard to want to support what House of Discs is doing right now. The p2x may be popular, but I think that's more about Gannon than discmania

My fast OS stuff is 9/10 speed, everything above that I throw more understable stuff. I have a 5th anniversary legacy enemy that I use for my firebird slot, with old glow FD3s as backups from a similar feeling run. And funny enough my most bought disc from your store is Bobcats lol. I bought a what I presume was dyed (Was silver but has purple/blue flight plate) that I bought years ago, and the recent glow run I picked one up.

Discmania’s signature discs are really starting to creep into “I could buy 3 f2 innova discs for this price” territory. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to go crazy for them especially since the whole lineup is essentially overstable which isn’t great for people with low arm speeds

I personally have disliked Discmania's graphic design and color choices for a while now. No shade just not my thing. I think people that have stuck around the sport by now have color choices and combos they prefer. For me if I can get a White disc with Holo Foil and just a bartamp with the players name under it....Id buy 10. Design is really big for me when purchasing, I know the teams work hard to come up with new refreshing stuff, but simplicity is sometimes better. Aldens Ring of Thrones stamp (prodigy) was SIIIIIIIIIIICK....im not even religious and I wanted multiple. Color theory is a thing...even if people don't know it, they subconsciously dislike wrong combos. Also sweden price tax is sheeeeesh

personally this year has been terrible for my dye sales, so I haven't had dollars to vote with. the hyperinflation of the past several years has taken a toll with two kids to feed and I just haven't been able to get more than 6 new discs all year. when it comes to making choices, I'm almost never going to pick something that is insanely beefy. beefy discs are easy to come by, ones that fly well for most AMs are not.

Pd2 is mine...

I live at elevation, and used to throw a lot of TL3 and beat in Teebird3 but this one has a bit more turn out of the box making it fly better for someone who doesn’t have a big arm. I never throw it max power but it gets me good backhand distance at 2/3 power which makes me a lot more accurate than ripping a OS fairway

I am interested in the timing of the breathing of some of these pros. I know in strength sports, breath timing helps with tension.
