@@re--dactedI'm pretty sure the game actually explains a reason for why they can't do that. I forget where exactly but it says it, but during a hunt, the ghost *physically* manifests, so I'd imagine with a physical manifestation it can't just clip through tables and shit
No sanity is stressful when you don't know where the hiding spots are. I have an unlucky habit of getting the ghost in the starting areas when I do low sanity.
generally if you are doing no sanity u know how to loop ghosts comfortably, and how to break line of sight and get to a place the ghost wont find you without being in a hiding spot
The starting area is exactly where you want it to be for no sanity. Having to travel any distances makes gathering evidence even harder due to the quantity of hunts.

So, I ONLY play with my friends, because I do not do well with horror games.... And I am the BRAVEST of the trio of us now because of your videos teaching the 'basics' of the game. Looping, smudging through the ghost, hiding places I didn't know about, so helpful. However, I still gotta nope outside to get my heart to slow down whenever the ghost chain events.... so scary x.x I hate when the lights go red.... But I've gotten much more confident in my ability to run backwards and watch the ghost down the highschool hallway to see if it is an obake... although that particular game we didn't see it change, because it changed form early hunt... Thought it was a Raiju because we couldn't get UV or see it change forms during a hunt (yes, used salt, but we kept missing it stepping because the 2 of us going back and forth with items failed to leave the UV flashlight on so the one babysitting could grab it easy)
Newbies, take note, this is advice to live by! There's been some confusion based on different patches in the past, but now you DO need to turn all held equipment off during hunts. Another major tip: For most people, HDR must be ON if you want to see decently without light! I was really confused at how anyone could survive hunts without a light to see by until I switched on Auto HDR. HDR makes everything distinguishable enough that you're not utterly blind, whereas otherwise sans light sources you see only a deep black night.

Edit: The worst part of being the crucifix bringer however is, when someone thinks they found the ghost room and you drop it and it's not there and then there's a mad dash to getting that crucifix in the right room D:
Usually I bring in the crucifix right after I've found the ghost room. But one time I was playing with my friends, and we had a Demon moment. Literally 2 mins into the contract, I thought I heard a noise somewhere and was checking temps for the ghost room, then a hunt started and caught all of us off guard. The Demon wiped the whole team in a single hunt. My friend didn't like that very much, now he always bring a crucifix at the start, lol

Need to learn the advanced techniques from the master. I myself have only been watching for a few months and know so much about this game now that I can easily detect which ghost is haunting. Obviously there are still some that I can't figure out but even Master Insym has his doubts too.
I love Insyms teaching moments. I can bring this knowledge to both my solo play and my friends play. Altho sometimes you are brought back to reality of this is a game and bugs, ghost abilities and ghost behavior is coded but not perfectly. You still can get 1 off games of a Spirit acting like a Shade, or ghosts hunting 2 pixels outside of crucifix, or passive Demons who don't wanna hunt lots.
When I'm looking for a hunt I usually place the Crucifixes near the entrance and on my intended escape route or hiding place if possible, unless the ghost is there of course. There were times when the ghost just roamed to the front door and started a hunt there or a Deogen started a hunt in the kitchen for some reason on Tanglewood. The Deogen is really scary when the only way you can go is against a wall. Corridors suck against it. I actually recommend walking up to a Deo's face so it slows down and just backing away from it slowly. I can also recommend throwing a Crucifix through the closed front door in the very beginning of the game if you don't mind spending a little time to do that. It worked a couple of times on Insanity against a Thaye. Also you MUST HAVE a plan as soon as you enter the house. Can't stress this enough. "Where is the fuse box? Where can I hide? What is the cursed possession?" If you've found the ghost room, the questions transform into "How can I get away from the ghost room? How can I deal with the ghost if it's this type? Where is the nearest hiding place? Is the ghost active in other rooms as well? Where can I loop?" It's important because the ghost's activity and certain ghost types can severely limit your options, especially if the ghost roams. The ghost will most likely kill you if you are careless or it catches you off guard. (or just plain unlucky, because it happens) If a ghost event happens with the ghost teleporting to your location and you are in hunting range, run and hide, because it will likely start a hunt on that spot.
I told people this a lot back when I played more: Put the crucifixes along your escape route, not in the ghost room. Not having the ghost hunt from behind you is the difference between living and dying. It's unintuitive sure, but its a good strategy.

the headcam detection also applies to tier I which can be switched off. I had a time when i didn't understand how the ghost found me across the whole map in hiding and killed me even though i was silent and had no active equipment and that was because i had T1 headcam which was on
I want to thank you so much! Thanks to your videos I finally got the courage to start playing phasmo about 2 weeks ago, I've been playing for 2-3 hours daily and just yesterday I was able to get a Perfect game in Professional by myself, I even used the monkey paw for shits and giggles after realizing it was a Raiju. I had a Hallway full of Para-Mics and electronics in the kitchen and whenever the ghost hunted me it was SUPER FAST until it got close to me, then it was normal speed; I only had Orbs as evidence because it would simply never give any other evidence that lazy ghost smh. Still, I just recently saw your "every ghost type updated 2023" and it suddenly clicked on my brain it was a raiju, so I left and wadayaknow the Perfect Game. That was awesome and only thanks to your videos haha
53:47 This is definitely a twinteraction, the incline in chart goes two seconds without plato (the whole square long), instead of one second (half of square), that means the activity gone up simultaniously with the same anount of strength (in this case with strength 1 each), that's why the line looks straight
I know my way around this game pretty well, but I admit that I struggle sometimes when it comes to dealing with consistent hunts with lingering questions to what the ghost may be, ever since I got hunted by a Demon as I walked into the map, there's always the hesitation that I'm gonna be killed (I usually provide the equipment) and lose money. I dont know why I care particularly, but that hesitation usually is what either gets me killed or leads me into a bad choice of ghost.
The fact that the ghost can change rooms during ghost events is amazing beginner advice that really should be in the tutorial. I've played casually for over a year and I had no idea that was a thing. Edit: Speaking of Deogen, my first game with one the hunt started so I hid in a closet in a hallway. By the time I realized what ghost it was I was completely pinned. So maybe I should practice looping on the first hunt in general so I don't get trapped and get some practice looping and some information about it's speed.
You always "claim" that you can't possibly tell us everything you know, etc. but I can assure you that anyone who consistently watches your Phasmo videos & pays attention to your gameplay and all the information you give, has learned so much from you and even though I rarely play Phasmo (I don't enjoy playing alone), I have learned soft/hard evidence and ghost behaviors, etc. simply thru you & your videos and you reaaally need to pat yourself on the shoulder for that because u r doing an incredible job actually.
I learnt everything about Phasmo through watching videos! 😅That is what built the confidence for me to try it out for myself and I play a tonne nowadays!
Love your videos Insym! I used to just play multiplayer and if I played solo I would play on intermediate. But since the update I now am able to play on Nightmare and many times finish with a perfect game. So many tactics and much of the knowledge I have gained have been from watching you play. Haha. My first ever ghost was a demon and it got me SO fast because I had no idea how to find a good hiding spot or that it could spawn right on top of me. I hid in that closet in the front left bedroom of Tanglewood and I _think_ the ghost room must've been that bedroom because the second I hid, the demon got me. 😅
"You should always check for hiding spots." Yeah, we turn those off. I had a Deo the other day and I didn't have a light. I panicked when it started hunting and just ran, got myself lodged in a corner, turned around and saw it slow to grandma speed, so I knew it was a Deo and ended up just slowly inching my way out of the corner and around it. It was both hilarious and terrifying.
I appreciate you. Though I just had a twin ghost where it did a ghost event in the kitchen (tanglewood). I listened to your advice and grabbed another crucifix in case it hunted from there. Immediately after it hunted in the kitchen. But with a crappy tier 1 crucifix I died cause it hunted on top of me, which I was standing in the corner of the kitchen next to the dining table.
I have been practicing lately how to loop and identify the ghosts during hunts and it has been exhilarating and rewarding, now I need to put it into practice on different situations and seeing your videos are very helpful and making phasmo very fun to play even with friends who now considers me something of an "expert" when we play 😅
another tip: if you might be dealing with a hantu, check to see if the ghost has freezing breath themselves. it was the case for me and my friends that whenever it was a hantu we would see freezing breath on the ghosts head, but ONLY with hantu. could be useful if you're playing nightmare mode.
i usually play either in a duo with a friend or singleplayer, and when i'm in my duo i'm the one who ends up wrapping up the games. my friend is absolutely horrible at going into the house after the ghost's started hunting unless we have sanity meds available haha. (he doesn't pull cards or use cursed objects either, but thats a whole different thing!)
Honestly my biggest complaint with Phasmo is that the smudge sticks not only aren't beginner equipment, it takes a while to unlock them. Not having the ability to smudge trains new players to panic during hunts because you are screwed 9/10 times as a new player if a hunt starts with no smudge.
10:34 Also, in multiplayer, the person who brings a sound sensor is an amazing evidence hero cause it makes easier to listen the ghost activity from the truck. Throws, polter throws, twinteractions, yurei double-door touch and ghost writing, for example, are good identifiable sounds you can hear from the truck with a sound sensor in the right spot. It's not as powerful in singleplayer tho (at least not for me) cause even though I travel a lot back to the truck, I don't stay there enough to listen to it, except if I'm waiting in the monitor for DOTS.
This is by far the best vid on how to do this game and survive. I would say just viewing has doubled our teams success and survival rate and we still have a ways to go as far as taking in all the info you give out.
that's why whenever me and my friend play the game my first job aside from taking pics of the cursed item and bone, i look for hiding spots right away and tell them for us to take mental note where to run

I swear i have mood swings with this game; some days im like freaking rambo, running in there with a solid plan and escape route all sorted, knowing my shit, and even getting out of impossible situations; other days there's 2 dead and myself and the only other living player standing at the front door not wanting to go in, getting confused about strats and 0 evidence tests until we get tired and guess and go lol some hunts just end up being total chaos and its a toss of the dice if my head is screwed on that day or not lololol
I just found Phasmo and I'm so glad I also found your guides. I play solo which I know makes it worse, but I am such a scardycat and watching the ghost literally tell you what it is every round against your will gives me hope that with some more experience future me will be able to play for more than 20m without having to peace out in terror! the only reason i leave when the ghost starts hunting back to back is because dying means losing all of my equipment and its costly. but now with the rework things are so much cheaper and i can afford to risk a death for the last piece of evidence!
when I play with family I'm always the one finding the remains and the curse item to take a photo then I go and bring in the crucifix and any evidence items then I help out with getting evidence.
The most important thing I took away from this video as someone who is familiar with Phasmo but over-reliant on closets etc is how to effectively loop around obstructions and take a map that doesn't have many obvious hiding spots and create your own hiding spots.

Man, I was having this issue with the flashlight and the para last night while playing... got stuck for a whole map in the muffled state you have while using the t1 para, and then was half-blind 'cause the flashlight wasn't staying on if I wasn't holding it. Seeing dropping and picking the gear back up might fix it is huge
My friend and I had a basement demon on tanglewood yesterday, and we thought we were in so much trouble when we found out it was down there. Placed crucifixes to prevent hunts right away, and super nervous trying to collect evidence…. Most chill demon of all time. Never used it’s early hunt ability, refused to hunt until we were WELL under its normal hunt threshold… even helpfully turns the lights on for us when we entered the house. The “prevent a hunt with a crucifix” objective was the last thing we did and we’d completely finished the rest of the contract and had to basically just wait around for him to decide to hunt us. Wild.
I played when the game first came out and i used to throw everything i was carrying when a ghost was hunting cause i was so scared lol. After I got used to it, i just assumed it would be better to turn off what i had on because it just makes sense. If you play hide and seek , you wouldnt leave your flashlight on to be seem lol.
The lights turning off is due to the hunting ending... everytime a hunt ends the lights around the ghost gets turned off, but since the crucifix prevented it from huintint, the hunt end instantly there
DUDE WHAT THE HELL!? a Ghost can go flying THROUGH a Door with ZERO FUCKS GIVEN.... but an Ikea Table is just TOO MUCH for their Supernatural Powers?! The best thing being the crucifix bringer is that last week, I was playing with a group on prison, we were all so confused where the ghost was, I had left a crucifix at the front door and when I went to go grab it, it had been burned, so the crucifix helped us know where the ghost room was, since then I always have a crucifix in my hand for the ghost room when we find it but until then I will leave it at the door I also am not the biggest fan of going inside apart from the start to get bone, cursed possession etc, instead I’ll bring everything that my team needs to the front door which is the most useful for prison, Bleadsdale and the ones that the van is quite far from the entrance of the building
Started playing comfortably cuz of your videos. I used to play like guess the ghost and f**k off! but after your videos, i started to go for perfect game almost all the time.
one of the other main issues ive seen for single player is as soon as the grace period of the hunt end the ghost is ontop of you so you get insta killed as soon as the hunt starts

@@dollface2907 Don't immediately start running as soon as you think the ghost is hunting, as you can quite literally run into the ghost and die as it spawns. Instead, take a second to assess your situation, hear where the ghost is coming from and pick an escape route. I know its not easy to do because you might be scared shitless at that point, lol. Another thing that can help you is placing motion sensors around the ghost room, to get more info about the ghost's current location, so you don't get jumped or cornered when it hunts. On Professional, you have like 3 seconds before the ghost can actually kill you, so that should be enough time to make sure you're not running into the ghost as you pick your escape route. And obviously you have to think and make decisions way faster on higher difficulties, so I recommend you practice that on Professional or lower.
@@IDyn4m1CI my issue been it's either the twins, aka I have everything ready in the room then when the hunt starts I hear the heart beat then instantly die, turn out I have run into the bug where it spawns inside of you as soon as the hunt starts or more recently massive lag spike, as in when the crosses block the hunt fps is alright as soon As the hunt starts my PC shat it's self 3 times then died to a rev during the spikes, sadly turns out for Phantoms and wraiths Im screw with there teleport thingies sadly
@@dollface2907 I've been unlucky with twins in the past, but very rarely it happens that the hunt starts from the decoy location and I end up running into it. Phantoms and Wraiths aren't much of an issue for me because if you use your motion sensors correctly, you can clearly see they're right on top of you. But lag spikes, there's nothing you can do about that. I've only experienced this maybe once or twice, but fortunately I was far away enough to the ghost that I could run to a hiding spot and still survive, despite the game being frozen for like 3 seconds.
Appreciate this video. Tried the weekly challenge last night. I got lucky the first time that spirit was already circled, and that was the ghost lol. So i got a freebie. It got me thinking...well...i have to be quick, do i even need to go inside? Maybe i can just guess randomly a bunch of times and should guess right at least 2 more times...that got boring quick lol. Went inside again and tried...and died. But could tell the ghost during the hunt. Unfortunately, wasnt quick enough to pick it. So that made me think...well if i can at least guess which one it is during a hunt, and be quick, then i should have a chance. Tried opening doors around the cell block i could loop it around like ive seen in others videos. It closed the doors and had me trapped, panicked...and yea. I ended up giving up on the challenge and going to regular rounds, admittedly on amateur/intermediate. But want to try again today. This couldnt come out at a perfect time. Oh, and i tried taking all the sanity meds first one time...didnt make a difference.
Did you do it? How it went? I did it with a friend yesterday. Here's how the 3 rounds went: First round we got an Cafeteria Obake. I died very early because I got unlucky and met the ghost while going downstairs with a paramic turned on, so I couldn't hear it approach. My friend found orbs and UV, and by process of elimination we figured it had to be an Obake (he didn't have the balls to loop it and watch it shapeshift, lol). We were right. Next round, we went in, hunt immediately started, we heard the ghost rushing towards us from block A through the paramic at an absurd speed. We sit there at the entrance scared shitless, and as soon as the ghost finds us, it slows down. Easy Deogen. After the hunt ends we go to the block A with cams just to make sure we weren't being bamboozled by a Mimic. Another hunt starts and it was in fact a Deogen, so we leave. Next and final round, we take a while to find the ghost but eventually find it close to the entrance. It sounds kinda slow so we decide to take a closer look. I let the ghost approach me in the entrance, it doesn't speed up at all as it sees me and I can see the ghost's freezing breath. So, easy Hantu. We go out and get our $5000. I guess we got very lucky, because we didn't fail a single round and two of the ghosts were very easy to identify without evidence.
@@IDyn4m1CI yes! I did it! 😁 it was mt last rounds i played last night, i was so stoked! I guess a Raiju the first time, got it, didnt get it a few more times, then guessed Yokai...got it! So it is possible. I also managed to get the daily get no sanity challenge on it lol. Easy if you dont have any to start off with lol.
@@IDyn4m1CI i just sat in the truck, opened the door, guessed, and left lol. Also, i take it back. I did the no sanity challenge the first round and didnt guess it right. Didnt die, lol surprisingly, but didnt guess it right. Then i sat in the truck guessing and it worked lol.
My first hunt was a shade and we somehow were able to get all evidences and figure it out without a hunt. Then we proceeded to guess wrong for the next 10 hunts and freak out and die during hunts
Since I can't play the real deal, this still helps! The games name is Blair and it's basically the same game but it's still in beta, not all ghosts are in the game, and not all ghost traits are in the game
In my case it’s not just the chain hunting but more like ‘is it?’. I don’t often know if it is, especially if I don’t have lights. See I could ‘probably’ do 0% sanity with practice but that’s because hunts are more certain. I don’t die very often but it’s usually to a Demon or Mimic Demon cheating the sanity rules with its ‘I can hunt just cus I want to’ ability. I bring crucifixes but even though they get range vs. Demons, doesn’t matter if you don’t have the ghost room and you get caught in the open. The only other time I get hunted is if it’s a Jinn using it’s breaker ability a lot or a Yurei of all things using it’s ability a lot. Yurei are less problematic now that it doesn’t cheat and use it’s ability without a door nearby but it is my most common cause of death oddly enough (total deaths are in the single digits because I try extremely hard to avoid hunts) but I haven’t died to one this year.

I learned not to freak out when I die because the first time I played, I joined a random server and the ghost had max aggression, sanity pills did nothing, flashlights were disabled, and starting sanity was 0% And the person in charge of the server was a kid that was only focused on the money multiplier and didn’t think about the fact that you don’t get money if you die immediately without being able to figure out what kind of ghost it is.
Insym, did you ever think about doing a theme video with Phasmophobia? In other words, they don’t have to be terribly long, but you could do Phasmophobia: Thaye or Phasmophobia: Jinn and then maybe have a short 5 to 10 minute video that’s edited from your previous videos, showing all the special little tricks of the Jinn
It's a nice idea, but his friend & fellow Phasmo youtuber, Psycho, already does exactly this on his channel. Usually with side by side comparisons which make explanations really clear. Plus Insym has already done an entire ghost guide with chapters for each ghost. You can just use the chapter timestamps in the description of that vid to jump to the ghost you want. Just search "Ghost guide" on his channel & the vid will pop up. It's from 6 months ago, but he's already stated that it is still valid after the Ascension update - just make sure to read his pinned comment underneath it for the very few points that have changed on a couple ghosts since the update.
the spirit box is so hard to use. i can never tell if my questions are registering. do you have to be in the ghost room? do you have to be a certain level of sanity? i always have lights off + flashlight off
You have to be in proximity of the ghost (how close you need to be depends on the tier) and the room lights have to be off, nothing else. Flashlight and sanity don't matter. Every spirit box has an indication on them if the game heard you. With the T1, its a little light with a mic icon that flashes white. With the T2 spirit box, its a X icon that shows up on the screen. With the T3 spirit box, the light under 'MIC INPUT' will turn on if the game heard you. They also each have an indication if you actually got a response from the ghots. T1 will flash the light with a ghost icon besides the mic light. T2 will show a ghost icon on the screen. T3 will light up the lights at the bottom under 'RESPONSE'. Remember that some ghosts will only answer if you're alone, and some ghosts will only answer to one player in the team, so if you're playing with 4 people, each one of them has to try the spirit box at some point.
my tipp: try it right after it does a ghost event!! (where it stood) because then the ghost is right there. And if it doesnt do it then, you can even rule it out
if you're playing with another person and it says "responds to people who are alone" is it a specific person that has to use that? and contrary if it responds to everyone can it respond to anyone in the group or is it still a specific person but doesn't matter if the other player is in the room or not?@@IDyn4m1CI
In vr trying to smug and run is almost impossible. They need an option to turn on or off the interactive lighting, where you can light it if you have the lighter on you. I literally couldn't get it to light a couple of times and is aggravating.

if you use the blocked closet in the boy's room in tanglewood and you close the doors almost all the way (as far as possible) you will "walk" upwards and clip through the closet until your head hits the ceiling... useless info but it was fun. Idk if a ghost can get you when you're up there but I do assume so since opening the door will bring your ass back down. Also I always thought it were Mare that won't turn on the breaker, but here he said Hantu... is it both, or?
Hey insym, recently you did an "insanity mode speedrun challenge" where you tried to get as many ghosts correct within an hour. I would like to see you build onto this speedrun idea. For example you could time yourself trying to complete all small maps on nightmare mode as fast as you can, and then that gives you and also the viewers a chance to race against your/their own time. You could even go as far as to make it official using LiveSplit and doing splits for each map. If you read this, thanks for considering my suggestion

Sorry, cant remember exactly, but i had a glow stick upstairs, and when i went down stairs to watch for activity (it was a twins ghost), i could see the glowstick light bleeding though the floor and onto the downstairs walls. Might not be a bug, but didnt look like it was supposed to do that lol.

So, I ONLY play with my friends, because I do not do well with horror games.... And I am the BRAVEST of the trio of us now because of your videos teaching the 'basics' of the game. Looping, smudging through the ghost, hiding places I didn't know about, so helpful. However, I still gotta nope outside to get my heart to slow down whenever the ghost chain events.... so scary x.x I hate when the lights go red.... But I've gotten much more confident in my ability to run backwards and watch the ghost down the highschool hallway to see if it is an obake... although that particular game we didn't see it change, because it changed form early hunt... Thought it was a Raiju because we couldn't get UV or see it change forms during a hunt (yes, used salt, but we kept missing it stepping because the 2 of us going back and forth with items failed to leave the UV flashlight on so the one babysitting could grab it easy)

Newbies, take note, this is advice to live by! There's been some confusion based on different patches in the past, but now you DO need to turn all held equipment off during hunts.
Another major tip: For most people, HDR must be ON if you want to see decently without light! I was really confused at how anyone could survive hunts without a light to see by until I switched on Auto HDR. HDR makes everything distinguishable enough that you're not utterly blind, whereas otherwise sans light sources you see only a deep black night.

Edit: The worst part of being the crucifix bringer however is, when someone thinks they found the ghost room and you drop it and it's not there and then there's a mad dash to getting that crucifix in the right room D:

Usually I bring in the crucifix right after I've found the ghost room. But one time I was playing with my friends, and we had a Demon moment. Literally 2 mins into the contract, I thought I heard a noise somewhere and was checking temps for the ghost room, then a hunt started and caught all of us off guard. The Demon wiped the whole team in a single hunt. My friend didn't like that very much, now he always bring a crucifix at the start, lol

I myself have only been watching for a few months and know so much about this game now that I can easily detect which ghost is haunting. Obviously there are still some that I can't figure out but even Master Insym has his doubts too.
I love Insyms teaching moments. I can bring this knowledge to both my solo play and my friends play. Altho sometimes you are brought back to reality of this is a game and bugs, ghost abilities and ghost behavior is coded but not perfectly. You still can get 1 off games of a Spirit acting like a Shade, or ghosts hunting 2 pixels outside of crucifix, or passive Demons who don't wanna hunt lots.
When I'm looking for a hunt I usually place the Crucifixes near the entrance and on my intended escape route or hiding place if possible, unless the ghost is there of course. There were times when the ghost just roamed to the front door and started a hunt there or a Deogen started a hunt in the kitchen for some reason on Tanglewood. The Deogen is really scary when the only way you can go is against a wall. Corridors suck against it. I actually recommend walking up to a Deo's face so it slows down and just backing away from it slowly.
I can also recommend throwing a Crucifix through the closed front door in the very beginning of the game if you don't mind spending a little time to do that. It worked a couple of times on Insanity against a Thaye.
Also you MUST HAVE a plan as soon as you enter the house. Can't stress this enough. "Where is the fuse box? Where can I hide? What is the cursed possession?"
If you've found the ghost room, the questions transform into "How can I get away from the ghost room? How can I deal with the ghost if it's this type? Where is the nearest hiding place? Is the ghost active in other rooms as well? Where can I loop?"
It's important because the ghost's activity and certain ghost types can severely limit your options, especially if the ghost roams. The ghost will most likely kill you if you are careless or it catches you off guard. (or just plain unlucky, because it happens)
If a ghost event happens with the ghost teleporting to your location and you are in hunting range, run and hide, because it will likely start a hunt on that spot.
The crucifix placement explanation, man! This is an amazing tip. It's a logical one, but not one that we necessarily think of.
I told people this a lot back when I played more: Put the crucifixes along your escape route, not in the ghost room. Not having the ghost hunt from behind you is the difference between living and dying. It's unintuitive sure, but its a good strategy.

the headcam detection also applies to tier I which can be switched off. I had a time when i didn't understand how the ghost found me across the whole map in hiding and killed me even though i was silent and had no active equipment and that was because i had T1 headcam which was on
I want to thank you so much! Thanks to your videos I finally got the courage to start playing phasmo about 2 weeks ago, I've been playing for 2-3 hours daily and just yesterday I was able to get a Perfect game in Professional by myself, I even used the monkey paw for shits and giggles after realizing it was a Raiju. I had a Hallway full of Para-Mics and electronics in the kitchen and whenever the ghost hunted me it was SUPER FAST until it got close to me, then it was normal speed; I only had Orbs as evidence because it would simply never give any other evidence that lazy ghost smh.
Still, I just recently saw your "every ghost type updated 2023" and it suddenly clicked on my brain it was a raiju, so I left and wadayaknow the Perfect Game. That was awesome and only thanks to your videos haha
53:47 This is definitely a twinteraction, the incline in chart goes two seconds without plato (the whole square long), instead of one second (half of square), that means the activity gone up simultaniously with the same anount of strength (in this case with strength 1 each), that's why the line looks straight
I know my way around this game pretty well, but I admit that I struggle sometimes when it comes to dealing with consistent hunts with lingering questions to what the ghost may be, ever since I got hunted by a Demon as I walked into the map, there's always the hesitation that I'm gonna be killed (I usually provide the equipment) and lose money. I dont know why I care particularly, but that hesitation usually is what either gets me killed or leads me into a bad choice of ghost.
The fact that the ghost can change rooms during ghost events is amazing beginner advice that really should be in the tutorial.
I've played casually for over a year and I had no idea that was a thing.
Edit: Speaking of Deogen, my first game with one the hunt started so I hid in a closet in a hallway. By the time I realized what ghost it was I was completely pinned. So maybe I should practice looping on the first hunt in general so I don't get trapped and get some practice looping and some information about it's speed.

You always "claim" that you can't possibly tell us everything you know, etc. but I can assure you that anyone who consistently watches your Phasmo videos & pays attention to your gameplay and all the information you give, has learned so much from you and even though I rarely play Phasmo (I don't enjoy playing alone), I have learned soft/hard evidence and ghost behaviors, etc. simply thru you & your videos and you reaaally need to pat yourself on the shoulder for that because u r doing an incredible job actually.
I learnt everything about Phasmo through watching videos! 😅That is what built the confidence for me to try it out for myself and I play a tonne nowadays!

Love your videos Insym! I used to just play multiplayer and if I played solo I would play on intermediate. But since the update I now am able to play on Nightmare and many times finish with a perfect game. So many tactics and much of the knowledge I have gained have been from watching you play. It is so much more fun playing on Nightmare and not worrying as much about loosing my gear. Thanks man, and keep up the A+ work!

Haha. My first ever ghost was a demon and it got me SO fast because I had no idea how to find a good hiding spot or that it could spawn right on top of me. I hid in that closet in the front left bedroom of Tanglewood and I _think_ the ghost room must've been that bedroom because the second I hid, the demon got me. 😅
My first deo; I was already hiding and it instantly killed me, I was so confused and laughing at what happened.
"You should always check for hiding spots." Yeah, we turn those off.
I had a Deo the other day and I didn't have a light. I panicked when it started hunting and just ran, got myself lodged in a corner, turned around and saw it slow to grandma speed, so I knew it was a Deo and ended up just slowly inching my way out of the corner and around it. It was both hilarious and terrifying.
I appreciate you. Though I just had a twin ghost where it did a ghost event in the kitchen (tanglewood). I listened to your advice and grabbed another crucifix in case it hunted from there. Immediately after it hunted in the kitchen. But with a crappy tier 1 crucifix I died cause it hunted on top of me, which I was standing in the corner of the kitchen next to the dining table.

I have been practicing lately how to loop and identify the ghosts during hunts and it has been exhilarating and rewarding, now I need to put it into practice on different situations and seeing your videos are very helpful and making phasmo very fun to play even with friends who now considers me something of an "expert" when we play 😅
another tip: if you might be dealing with a hantu, check to see if the ghost has freezing breath themselves. it was the case for me and my friends that whenever it was a hantu we would see freezing breath on the ghosts head, but ONLY with hantu. could be useful if you're playing nightmare mode.

i usually play either in a duo with a friend or singleplayer, and when i'm in my duo i'm the one who ends up wrapping up the games. my friend is absolutely horrible at going into the house after the ghost's started hunting unless we have sanity meds available haha. (he doesn't pull cards or use cursed objects either, but thats a whole different thing!)
Honestly my biggest complaint with Phasmo is that the smudge sticks not only aren't beginner equipment, it takes a while to unlock them. Not having the ability to smudge trains new players to panic during hunts because you are screwed 9/10 times as a new player if a hunt starts with no smudge.

Also, in multiplayer, the person who brings a sound sensor is an amazing evidence hero cause it makes easier to listen the ghost activity from the truck. Throws, polter throws, twinteractions, yurei double-door touch and ghost writing, for example, are good identifiable sounds you can hear from the truck with a sound sensor in the right spot.
It's not as powerful in singleplayer tho (at least not for me) cause even though I travel a lot back to the truck, I don't stay there enough to listen to it, except if I'm waiting in the monitor for DOTS.
And if you want to train, you have the challenge without smudge, crucifix, the ghost is fast, no breaker and T1 items xD

I swear i have mood swings with this game; some days im like freaking rambo, running in there with a solid plan and escape route all sorted, knowing my shit, and even getting out of impossible situations; other days there's 2 dead and myself and the only other living player standing at the front door not wanting to go in, getting confused about strats and 0 evidence tests until we get tired and guess and go lol
some hunts just end up being total chaos and its a toss of the dice if my head is screwed on that day or not lololol

the only reason i leave when the ghost starts hunting back to back is because dying means losing all of my equipment and its costly. but now with the rework things are so much cheaper and i can afford to risk a death for the last piece of evidence!

when I play with family I'm always the one finding the remains and the curse item to take a photo then I go and bring in the crucifix and any evidence items then I help out with getting evidence.
Well I am a newish player to the game did solo just to remember the controls and left after the first hunt since my sanity was above 80%
The most important thing I took away from this video as someone who is familiar with Phasmo but over-reliant on closets etc is how to effectively loop around obstructions and take a map that doesn't have many obvious hiding spots and create your own hiding spots.

Man, I was having this issue with the flashlight and the para last night while playing... got stuck for a whole map in the muffled state you have while using the t1 para, and then was half-blind 'cause the flashlight wasn't staying on if I wasn't holding it. Seeing dropping and picking the gear back up might fix it is huge
My friend and I had a basement demon on tanglewood yesterday, and we thought we were in so much trouble when we found out it was down there. Placed crucifixes to prevent hunts right away, and super nervous trying to collect evidence…. Most chill demon of all time. Never used it’s early hunt ability, refused to hunt until we were WELL under its normal hunt threshold… even helpfully turns the lights on for us when we entered the house. The “prevent a hunt with a crucifix” objective was the last thing we did and we’d completely finished the rest of the contract and had to basically just wait around for him to decide to hunt us. Wild.
I played when the game first came out and i used to throw everything i was carrying when a ghost was hunting cause i was so scared lol. After I got used to it, i just assumed it would be better to turn off what i had on because it just makes sense. If you play hide and seek , you wouldnt leave your flashlight on to be seem lol.
The lights turning off is due to the hunting ending... everytime a hunt ends the lights around the ghost gets turned off, but since the crucifix prevented it from huintint, the hunt end instantly there
DUDE WHAT THE HELL!? a Ghost can go flying THROUGH a Door with ZERO FUCKS GIVEN.... but an Ikea Table is just TOO MUCH for their Supernatural Powers?! The best thing being the crucifix bringer is that last week, I was playing with a group on prison, we were all so confused where the ghost was, I had left a crucifix at the front door and when I went to go grab it, it had been burned, so the crucifix helped us know where the ghost room was, since then I always have a crucifix in my hand for the ghost room when we find it but until then I will leave it at the door
I also am not the biggest fan of going inside apart from the start to get bone, cursed possession etc, instead I’ll bring everything that my team needs to the front door which is the most useful for prison, Bleadsdale and the ones that the van is quite far from the entrance of the building
Started playing comfortably cuz of your videos. I used to play like guess the ghost and f**k off! but after your videos, i started to go for perfect game almost all the time.
one of the other main issues ive seen for single player is as soon as the grace period of the hunt end the ghost is ontop of you so you get insta killed as soon as the hunt starts
this can happen, but its pretty rare

@@dollface2907 Don't immediately start running as soon as you think the ghost is hunting, as you can quite literally run into the ghost and die as it spawns. Instead, take a second to assess your situation, hear where the ghost is coming from and pick an escape route. I know its not easy to do because you might be scared shitless at that point, lol. Another thing that can help you is placing motion sensors around the ghost room, to get more info about the ghost's current location, so you don't get jumped or cornered when it hunts. On Professional, you have like 3 seconds before the ghost can actually kill you, so that should be enough time to make sure you're not running into the ghost as you pick your escape route. And obviously you have to think and make decisions way faster on higher difficulties, so I recommend you practice that on Professional or lower.
@@IDyn4m1CI my issue been it's either the twins, aka I have everything ready in the room then when the hunt starts I hear the heart beat then instantly die, turn out I have run into the bug where it spawns inside of you as soon as the hunt starts or more recently massive lag spike, as in when the crosses block the hunt fps is alright as soon As the hunt starts my PC shat it's self 3 times then died to a rev during the spikes, sadly turns out for Phantoms and wraiths Im screw with there teleport thingies sadly
@@dollface2907 I've been unlucky with twins in the past, but very rarely it happens that the hunt starts from the decoy location and I end up running into it. Phantoms and Wraiths aren't much of an issue for me because if you use your motion sensors correctly, you can clearly see they're right on top of you. But lag spikes, there's nothing you can do about that. I've only experienced this maybe once or twice, but fortunately I was far away enough to the ghost that I could run to a hiding spot and still survive, despite the game being frozen for like 3 seconds.

Appreciate this video. Tried the weekly challenge last night. I got lucky the first time that spirit was already circled, and that was the ghost lol. So i got a freebie. It got me thinking...well...i have to be quick, do i even need to go inside? Maybe i can just guess randomly a bunch of times and should guess right at least 2 more times...that got boring quick lol. Went inside again and tried...and died. But could tell the ghost during the hunt. Unfortunately, wasnt quick enough to pick it. So that made me think...well if i can at least guess which one it is during a hunt, and be quick, then i should have a chance. Tried opening doors around the cell block i could loop it around like ive seen in others videos. It closed the doors and had me trapped, panicked...and yea.
I ended up giving up on the challenge and going to regular rounds, admittedly on amateur/intermediate. But want to try again today. This couldnt come out at a perfect time.
Oh, and i tried taking all the sanity meds first one time...didnt make a difference.
Finding the room itself is so difficult for me with the tier 1 items.
Did you do it? How it went? I did it with a friend yesterday. Here's how the 3 rounds went: First round we got an Cafeteria Obake. I died very early because I got unlucky and met the ghost while going downstairs with a paramic turned on, so I couldn't hear it approach. My friend found orbs and UV, and by process of elimination we figured it had to be an Obake (he didn't have the balls to loop it and watch it shapeshift, lol). We were right. Next round, we went in, hunt immediately started, we heard the ghost rushing towards us from block A through the paramic at an absurd speed. We sit there at the entrance scared shitless, and as soon as the ghost finds us, it slows down. Easy Deogen. After the hunt ends we go to the block A with cams just to make sure we weren't being bamboozled by a Mimic. Another hunt starts and it was in fact a Deogen, so we leave. Next and final round, we take a while to find the ghost but eventually find it close to the entrance. It sounds kinda slow so we decide to take a closer look. I let the ghost approach me in the entrance, it doesn't speed up at all as it sees me and I can see the ghost's freezing breath. So, easy Hantu. We go out and get our $5000.
I guess we got very lucky, because we didn't fail a single round and two of the ghosts were very easy to identify without evidence.
@@IDyn4m1CI yes! I did it! 😁 it was mt last rounds i played last night, i was so stoked! I guess a Raiju the first time, got it, didnt get it a few more times, then guessed Yokai...got it! So it is possible. I also managed to get the daily get no sanity challenge on it lol. Easy if you dont have any to start off with lol.
@@IDyn4m1CI i just sat in the truck, opened the door, guessed, and left lol. Also, i take it back. I did the no sanity challenge the first round and didnt guess it right. Didnt die, lol surprisingly, but didnt guess it right. Then i sat in the truck guessing and it worked lol.
My first hunt was a shade and we somehow were able to get all evidences and figure it out without a hunt. Then we proceeded to guess wrong for the next 10 hunts and freak out and die during hunts

Since I can't play the real deal, this still helps! The games name is Blair and it's basically the same game but it's still in beta, not all ghosts are in the game, and not all ghost traits are in the game

In my case it’s not just the chain hunting but more like ‘is it?’. I don’t often know if it is, especially if I don’t have lights. See I could ‘probably’ do 0% sanity with practice but that’s because hunts are more certain.
I don’t die very often but it’s usually to a Demon or Mimic Demon cheating the sanity rules with its ‘I can hunt just cus I want to’ ability. I bring crucifixes but even though they get range vs. Demons, doesn’t matter if you don’t have the ghost room and you get caught in the open.
The only other time I get hunted is if it’s a Jinn using it’s breaker ability a lot or a Yurei of all things using it’s ability a lot. Yurei are less problematic now that it doesn’t cheat and use it’s ability without a door nearby but it is my most common cause of death oddly enough (total deaths are in the single digits because I try extremely hard to avoid hunts) but I haven’t died to one this year.

running away from a ghost is hard when grace period is 1 second, you have only starting items and the game runs in 18 fps.
First thing I grab after finding the ghost room is both crucifixes. Had too many demons hunt in the 90s

I learned not to freak out when I die because the first time I played, I joined a random server and the ghost had max aggression, sanity pills did nothing, flashlights were disabled, and starting sanity was 0%
And the person in charge of the server was a kid that was only focused on the money multiplier and didn’t think about the fact that you don’t get money if you die immediately without being able to figure out what kind of ghost it is.

Insym, did you ever think about doing a theme video with Phasmophobia? In other words, they don’t have to be terribly long, but you could do Phasmophobia: Thaye or Phasmophobia: Jinn and then maybe have a short 5 to 10 minute video that’s edited from your previous videos, showing all the special little tricks of the Jinn
It's a nice idea, but his friend & fellow Phasmo youtuber, Psycho, already does exactly this on his channel. Usually with side by side comparisons which make explanations really clear. Plus Insym has already done an entire ghost guide with chapters for each ghost. You can just use the chapter timestamps in the description of that vid to jump to the ghost you want. Just search "Ghost guide" on his channel & the vid will pop up. It's from 6 months ago, but he's already stated that it is still valid after the Ascension update - just make sure to read his pinned comment underneath it for the very few points that have changed on a couple ghosts since the update.
the spirit box is so hard to use. i can never tell if my questions are registering. do you have to be in the ghost room? do you have to be a certain level of sanity? i always have lights off + flashlight off
You have to be in proximity of the ghost (how close you need to be depends on the tier) and the room lights have to be off, nothing else. Flashlight and sanity don't matter. Every spirit box has an indication on them if the game heard you. With the T1, its a little light with a mic icon that flashes white. With the T2 spirit box, its a X icon that shows up on the screen. With the T3 spirit box, the light under 'MIC INPUT' will turn on if the game heard you. They also each have an indication if you actually got a response from the ghots. T1 will flash the light with a ghost icon besides the mic light. T2 will show a ghost icon on the screen. T3 will light up the lights at the bottom under 'RESPONSE'.
Remember that some ghosts will only answer if you're alone, and some ghosts will only answer to one player in the team, so if you're playing with 4 people, each one of them has to try the spirit box at some point.
my tipp: try it right after it does a ghost event!! (where it stood) because then the ghost is right there. And if it doesnt do it then, you can even rule it out
if you're playing with another person and it says "responds to people who are alone" is it a specific person that has to use that? and contrary if it responds to everyone can it respond to anyone in the group or is it still a specific person but doesn't matter if the other player is in the room or not?@@IDyn4m1CI

In vr trying to smug and run is almost impossible. They need an option to turn on or off the interactive lighting, where you can light it if you have the lighter on you. I literally couldn't get it to light a couple of times and is aggravating.

if you use the blocked closet in the boy's room in tanglewood and you close the doors almost all the way (as far as possible) you will "walk" upwards and clip through the closet until your head hits the ceiling... useless info but it was fun. Idk if a ghost can get you when you're up there but I do assume so since opening the door will bring your ass back down.
Also I always thought it were Mare that won't turn on the breaker, but here he said Hantu... is it both, or?

Hey insym, recently you did an "insanity mode speedrun challenge" where you tried to get as many ghosts correct within an hour. I would like to see you build onto this speedrun idea. For example you could time yourself trying to complete all small maps on nightmare mode as fast as you can, and then that gives you and also the viewers a chance to race against your/their own time. You could even go as far as to make it official using LiveSplit and doing splits for each map. If you read this, thanks for considering my suggestion

Also, since you know the developers, ill let you know, not sure if its a bug or not, but in one of the two story maps, maybe edgefield? Sorry, cant remember exactly, but i had a glow stick upstairs, and when i went down stairs to watch for activity (it was a twins ghost), i could see the glowstick light bleeding though the floor and onto the downstairs walls.
Might not be a bug, but didnt look like it was supposed to do that lol.
