You can actually have one F-bomb and still remain a PG-13 film...and I thought they said they left one in...but I didn't hear it. I didn't know the soundtrack going in to watching it on Disney (I know, I'm late to the Hamilton party), and I think they did a great job with covering them without it being obvious.

A couple of quick things here. First, you said "Jonathan Goff," when the actor's name is actually Jonathan Groff.
You also state that King George was first cast for Broadway and then recast for off-Broadway. The order is wrong. The play was off-Broadway first, and then on Broadway. You also have the order wrong in terms of casting for King George III. If you exclude the Vassar Workshop, Brian D'Arcy James originated the role off-Broadway, and then was replaced by Groff while still off-Broadway. Groff continued the role into the Broadway run, and was then replaced by Andrew Rannells.
The film version was created when the actor who replaced Rannells, Rory O'Malley, had the role. But Rory stepped aside to allow Groff a limited-run revival specifically for the film (it's why Rory is thanked in the end credits).
Also, you state here that the F-bombs were removed at Disney's insistence. That's not true. The movie was made before anyone bought the rights to it. It was intended to be a theatrical release (which is why Disney paid $70 million for it). But before any studio had purchased the rights, Lin-Manuel Miranda had decided himself to remove the f-bombs because he wanted to ensure the film rating would be no higher than PG-13 (the use of F-bombs could give the film an R-rating, thus limiting the audience who could see it). The existing curse words are actually well beyond what Disney normally allows for its production card to appear in the beginning (instead of going to one of its other studio shingles it owns where there can be more saucy language), but exceptions were made because it's, well, Hamilton.
Finally, it is not verified that it was the play that saved Hamilton on the $10 bill. It is believed to be that, and is likely, but is still more speculation than an actual fact.

This isn't really a movie. Take Les Miserables for example... You can probably find a stream of it. A stream that is like Hamilton on Disney+. Then there is the movie musical version of the movie where you get a 360-degree look at the world of the musical.
When I think of a movie, I think of being immersed in the world of that musical.
So I'm going to sit here and just call it Hamilton because to me it's not a movie, per say.

I’m just gonna throw in that the “film version” of the musical is not actually a movie and is, quite simply spoken, a filmed version of the musical. In no aspect is it a movie or “movie version” nor is it a “film adaptation.” As well as, Groff’s name is not Goff, Ramos is not Raymos, and anything else that the theatre community had commented about. I felt like this was needed because I don’t want people to assume that Lin thinks this is a movie version. When he said he doesn’t know when hamilton will become a movie, he still hasn’t created a movie. I repeat, this is NOT a movie adaptation. This is just a filmed musical for everyone to be able to see. There are plenty of filmed musicals on services like BroadwayHD that will attest to this being a filmed musical rather than a movie.

I can completely understand wanting to wait to release a recording of the stage performance because you want as many people to see it live as possible, but this may also boost some future ticket sales. I live at least an hour and a half away from the closest live theater, which means going to a live show involves a lot of time beyond the actual stage time, not to mention travel costs on top of the price for the ticket. This makes me a little picky about what I go see. Most of the shows I have seen, I have seen live only once (except for Phantom twice and Wicked three times and I would gladly pay to see these live again because they are just that awesome in my opinion 😁🤓). I kind of wanted to see Hamilton at some point because I had been hearing good things about it, but after watching it on Disney+ I am DEFINITELY going to find a chance to see it live AT LEAST once.

Hip-hop is slowly being replaced by Trap. I love this movie so so much. But as exciting as it is it doesn't have what it takes to overturn the tide. Pretty sad when you you think of it.

I love live theater and seeing Hamilton live would have been awesome; however, tickets were hard to come by and totally out of my price range, so I consider it as a silver lining during this pandemic to pay $12 to see it on Disney Plus (although if you already have to pay for the Disney channel on cable, it should have been shown on that channel☹️)

  • @opnic_

It was Lin who decided to take out the TWO f-bombs. The one in “The Adams Administration” is actually a bleep noise, even in the album. The ones in “World Turned Upside Down” and “Washington On Your Side” are edited.

I have a few things to say: 1 it’s groff not Goff 2 the f bombs were Lin’s choice to remove 3 Groffsauce has always been a spitter going all the way back to spring awakening he used to spit all the time on stage 4 king George was going mad in his time of ruling Great Britain and used to foam around the mouth while talking so Groffsauce used to drink lots of water and would intentionally spit to create that effect. I really hope this didn’t come off as rude. I love love love Hamilton and Jon is one of my fav actors. I love your video and I love Lin Manuel Miranda

The flowers disappear on angelicas dress to signify the time difference of wedding and the winterball (a flashback) cause the dress is the same

    • @MsBeth62880
      @MsBeth62880 4 года назад

It was because of the editing of different performances. You will see the flowers in a close up and not in a wider shot within seconds of each other in the same song. No one was coming in to remove the flowers and put them back every few seconds.

Groff was not the original King George for Off Broadway. He was a replacement. Brian D'Arcy James originated at the Public.

7:26 the flowers disappeared to represent the change as time goes on. Having flowers and not represent two different periods of time happening. It’s on par with the walls adding more bricks since it’s a different time period where the country grows. It’s not really mistakes.
