A plaid pattern like the GTI would have been much more appealing IMO than a bunch of random triangles.
Agreed. Hexagonal pattern would have been dope too, to match the grill. I just got the '24 Autobahn in King's Red.
Man was I surprised when you started driving and I recognized the street immediately. That’s the exact car from the exact dealer that caught my eye the other day and led me to look into it. Small world lol
Definitely is a small world!
Are Fog Lights available?
How do the speakers sound? I know the 40th doesn’t come with the beats audio but wondering if it still has some good bass/sound.
Does it actually have the dipstick though
Cleanest looking interior design of a sedan within this price point. I agree I do not like the piano black button covers though. Hoping by the 2025 the vehicle prices will continue to lower and maybe the 2025 GLI will be 30K OTD new, i'd hop on it then.
Good review. You sure you have adaptive dampers on the 40th anniversary? Here in Canada, we lose the DCC option with the 40th. Great car and actually i prefer the cloth seats vs the leather ones. They are more confortable and the seating position is lower.
Yes, good point. On the cloth seats with manual adjustment the seats can go lower than the leather with power adjustment. I have noticed that too.
Ya in the states the 40th comes with DCC .. like the original 2019 35th anniversary mk7 .. that's what made it special back then, I remember you couldn't even get DCC on the autobahn trim in 2019. the only way was 35th model
I also remember Canada and Mexico got the one 35th anniversary option which was basically the autobahn (leather, digidash, sunroof
Did they eliminate the multicolor interior ambient lighting? I thought they still came with it.
It's still there
No real time tires pressure displaying? How do we know if there is a low threadshold of tire pressure prior to it going into the danger zone or alerting?
why do you need a sensor loll
It gives a warning in the vehicle status menu and dash if tire pressure happens. I have a 2020 manual. My 40th is on its way in a few weeks!
@@armand0007how’s it been?
I really, really like this thing but personally can't get over the red accents in the interior. It just looks very "teenager" to me as much as I hate to say it.
the early mk7 2019-2022 before refresh have a way more subtle and clean interior look .. I feel ya about the red graphics designs/accents
@@scorber23 Early MK7 is 2015-2017. 2018 and up is MK7.5
I think the GLIni a super handsome car. And for the price… I can’t get over the red on the front bumper! Those red bits on the lower bumper on the outer edge. Looks ridiculous. The red line is cool. The other red bits are overkill and enough to keep me from
Buying this thing. Shame…
I would prefer the moon roof & leather seats. The problem with VW is they cheapened the vehicle & increased the price. $31K is outrageous for the Jetta. I had a ‘99 Jetta Green with Leather Seats & the moon roof. It had the pistons for the hood & trunk which gave you much more room under the hood & trunk. It was an automatic but it drove through the ice & snow covered roads when I was caught in a storm. The car just walked home. Never spun a tire. It was a freak storm. The heated seats would burn your butt if was perfect if you kept them on the first setting. Those seats would heat up fast. I had the car for 5 years. The car never broke down & never had any problems at all. The leather seats were real. Later, they were replaced with leatherette. 2003 was my last VW. It was a Passat. They had a 4Motion model (AWD) but it was expensive & on their 6 cylinder models. It was $40K plus. I eventually switched car brands twice since then.
same here, which is why I go the '21 Autobahn 6MT. Heated and Cooled seats! Never had a single issue at three years of ownership. I love the car. And I paid $30k which I thought was a decent price for the package.
When will the Autobahn GLI be available with white exterior color?
It is
I have a 2020 Jetta SEL Premium. I have looked at the 40th GLI. Aside from the exterior color of white, you can't get the Autobahn with the exterior black accents. Pity.
I just upgraded my 2019 Jetta SEL for the 40th anniversary GLI… only thing I would prefer is the louder exhaust sound that’s found on the GTI.
I did a upgrade on my 2020 Jetta SEL Premium in Dec 2023. I got a 2024 BMW M240i. @@alvinjokr2549
I would save money on the tranny now and on repairs later and get the stick shift. #savethemanual #savethestick
Nice Definitely need better tires , good car
That is definitely one thing the GLI could use is a better set of tires. I can’t remember what this one in the video had on it but my GLI came with Hankook tires which weren’t the best!
On my 2020 Gli I put Goodyear eagle sport all seasons, they much better
Beautiful car but I hate black wheels, lol
I thought it would have a premium sound system, my 2017 has the fender.... lame
I got the '21 Autbahn and it comes with the Beats, which is not terrible, but hardly on the level of the fender. They still include the fender with some trims on the Tguan. I wish the GLI came with it. but otherwise I love this car!!!
Imagine this car getting the r version and way cheaper too🤣
I could overlook everything but the capacitive steering wheel. Just...why.
I agree, I cannot see any benefit to a capacitive touch steering wheel. Especially when the “buttons” are glossy black… Other than that the car is truly great!
I am a VW salesman, and I also own a '22 Jetta GLI Autobahn. I can tell you for a fact, NO ONE who ever actually uses these cars EVER complains about the steering wheel. It's actually one of the most praised features for its usability. It has about a 4-hour learning curve, and then it's literally the greatest design ever. Being able to swipe and press makes a world of difference, and I've never once had an accidental touch or swipe after owning the car for 1 year and 2 months.
@WaveManMike i mean ur a vw salesman. Of course u would pitch the car lol. Jokes aside thats good to hear. Hopefully, when i get mine, it's not bothersome as i prefer physical over touch any day.
Idk...I thought they would look much more premioum thant they actually are...
Soft leather would really elevate the interior experience significantly! Adding some brushed dark aluminum or a similar element would provide a classy touch. With these enhancements, we could easily call it a day and have a truly upgraded interior. What do you think?
@@WaveManMike yeah, perhaps. I'm from South America, and I drove one. Maybe I'm already against VW because of the poor quality offered here. But you're right. It'd make a tremendous difference
I gotta be honest…..the mk6.5 is legit the last great GLI. Mk7 is meh at best stock, and the 7.5 is just terrible. Those red “things” where foglights should be is thee worst. It’s most def Mk6-6.5 gang FTW.
I thought the same but seriously just a cpl of red bits isnt going to stop me...as soon as i get it....having those accents wrapped in black.....problem solved. 😊
@@jm4100 not really, because you still have those giant hog nostrils there and no fog lights like there should be. The red just made them stand out too much…they’re still awful no matter the color
