- Jeff Stone is at an International Bike Show, taking a look at a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R, and finding out what makes this Japanese bike so special. Plus, he'll be talking to a representative of Kawasaki UK - Geoff Selvidge, who'll explain wether or not the bike can actually do 200mph and what legal implications, if any, the company facing in producing a bike with such power and speed.
The factory restriction doesn't mean anything. My 03 12R is unrestricted with nothing more than a little tuning, and help from a PC5. Such great bikes the 12Rs are ive owned quite a few bikes an this one will stay with me forever its that's good and exciting to ride... A 1200cc machine that begs to be riden like a 600 is more than any sporting enthusiast could ask for, this thing is just flat out one badass to ride!
Its still restricted...
The B models are not only electronicly restricted, they also have different "hardware" (crank is longer and heavyer for more down the bottom torque, engine block is more wide than the A models, the camshafts have more flat but wider opening timings, thus heavyer (and slower) in all)
A real man's machine ...set up properly....not much else raises a bigger smile.
By far the best bike ever built,, sure do miss it 😧
@Ninja ZX-12R Me too...
Mine is silver and I'm in love with it...
Still got mine brought brand new in 2000...dealership's been trying to get my P. Red boy from me for years now
@@wood4278 awesome me too , green a1 bought new.
No..not by a long shot.
Still got mine! Bought it new back in April of 2003!! Awesome machine!!
These older bikes look miles better than the shitty new ones of today
I bought the zx12r new back in 2000 as a 21 year old. How I survived to tell that story is beyond me 😂
What a cool old vid! Thanks for sharing this🤘🤘
Just bought this bike yesterday, and this video was uploaded yesterday too !
+KPaccountt Do you still have the bike? What is your experience with it?
Thank you
E.S. BiH I quite like it, even though not exactly my favorite. It's pretty comfortable and the power is more than adequate for the road use. I might be looking forward to sell it and trade it with something less powerful, as I rarely use all the power, and for saving fuel as well.
@@KPKaccountt your scared of it,buy a ninja 400.
Had my A1 full power model delivered, love it too bits!
If the 12r is a bit too mental for you try the zzr12 and be ready for a shock at how quick it is for such a big comfy bike, the engine is incredible.
+hector munro I got both:)
solomonstemplers You are lucky :)
I'm trying to decide between the ZZR1200 (Carburated sadly) and the ZX12R.
Lucky guy! Both so cool bikes. Still got the ZZR1200?
I wonder if it has good handling, it is a long and heavy bike and I live in a very, very twisty roads island.
Absolutely right, I bought my '00 ZX12R brand new and belive me when I say this bike is forever...
Me too, still have her alongside with the 14.
@@ross5506 which is faster?
@@SLAYER-nm5zw stock the 12...
@@Ninjahall-12R amazing
@@SLAYER-nm5zw it is...
My '00 A1 puts around 175hp to the wheel on a dyno, on the road 192-195hp (above 200kmh)due to the ramair System and weighs roughly 220kg wet and ready to ride (with full aftermarket exhaustsystem)
The 2000 model was faster than the first gen Hayabusa, both were un-restricted.
Wayne Baldwin I got a co worker who has a stock 2007 'Busa..... I walk away from him every time we play a little.... Course his is restricted.....
@@40822499 wouldn't matter if his was unrestricted ZX12R is KING
@@wood4278 it's also ugly as fuck!!
@@busalove2013 yes that Busa is a ugly piece of shit
Cycle world reported the zx12r falling a few mph short of the unrestricted busas top speed of 194 at the zx12rs release
I owned a 12 R GOOD BIKE , Great
Looking bike, Sold it with 93,000km
Then I brought a 14r a little heavier
But far more refined , and that Motor
Apart from pipes , stock , it a Better
Bike , I done 60,000 on this bike ,
Unless your rode this bike , you
Don't realise how much confidence
Traction control, Slipper Clutch gives
You , and before you say it crap , we
Are not Moto GP riders , it a protection
( It already saved you , You just Don't
Know it )
Don't worry I have a Soft spot for
Kawasaki 12r
I wish Kawasaki had kept this model in production .. imagine a refined, evolved one now?!
Still.... the new stuff is magic too!
The new liter bikes are incredible but yea, a sporty 1200 using modern tech would absolutely kill. Plus there's a gap in the market for one atm.
Full titanium exhaust not stainless steel. I have the 9R and love it to bits.
This one of the speed legend's! Iron, not plastik bike!
The gentleman’s agreement was a joke, Kawasaki gave a middle finger to all the other manufacturers once the H2 came out 😂 Ducati trying to top it but can’t lol
Kawasaki just showed "fuck off" to all manufacturers when the h2 and the h2r was launched. 😂😂
It must be the placement of the battery.. or the main fuse or the headlight fuse, I would really have a hard time deciding which one makes it so good.
just got 03 zx12r in mint condition 9200 mils and love it
just got my zx12r with 30k but shes my first bike ima treat her with love
The crazy thing is that the blackbird has a befier midrange then the zx12,the zx12 doesnt hold candle to the blackbird or the busa but out right speed is different because the zx i belive is att least 30 pounds lighter then the busa.
The ist motorcycle with wings.
I was thinking the cutaway was going to show where the factory frames crack, endangering riders.
You know,,, to raise awareness.
Tubergen MotorSports that is the tens not the twelves I believe
They only crack if you can't ride and therefore let her drop hard after powerwheely...
Hated the look of that air intake when it first came out. Looked like a flat metal tube sticking out the front. I got a 2006 model, which, imo looks so much neater. Mean even 😊
Absolutely loathed the location of the battery 🙄
I own an A1. Had it for 11 years now. Never had it WOT in 6th gear...... but I will say this A1 does not start running good till you are over 160 mph which on my 2000 ZX12R is just going into 4th gear good with stock gearing. Nothing has out performed me yet.... Just saying
+Vinny G. Yea, I think it has a lot to do with the "Ram Air" induction, I had a ZX11 with the same characteristics. And my 14 just starts to wake up around that speed and begins to pull very hard!! Scary stuff, but I'm addicted I think! lol
240kmh in 3rd stock A1
12r is for man not for boys
And u prob ride like an old man at 30 on it acting like ur hard lol
I will be honest I've got a 2000 CBR 1100xx super Blackbird and I also have a 2001 ZX12R and in every way the Honda's better with one exception the ninja is faster LOL the CBR is more comfortable it's more I don't know it just feels better but then again the Ninja it does feel a little better at speeds over 180mph. But it's also been souped up internally so I don't know what the top end is but when I'm pegged out at 190 I still got two grand before redlining on RPMs so I'm guessing about 215 ..220mph maybe top speed.. but I definitely don't like how you jump the bike off if you got a dead battery the Honda's much easier to get to the battery. And those god aweful mirrors on Ninja are hideous I don't think they could have invented anything more ugly but overall it is fun to ride
Hahaha what you said, zx12r is much better on al.l I had xx and I have zx12r
Zx12r is probably best superbike ever
Not the headlights. The headlight looks to much like a touring bike. Im sure the motors great.
