may everyone who watches this send a prayer for her that she may walk again -- dance again. dance is a living testament to how miraculous the human body and spirit can be. blessed is every dancer that has the chance to rise to the height of their art like Liu Yan has. may she rise again! AXE!
she's so beautiful. i want to cry. i mean, i've had stages where i thought it was the end of the world when i had injuries and was told i couldn't dance, but with her, i'm praying for her.
So heart touching to hear that one who is very talented now has to lie down on the bed with uncertainty about the future, especially to know that the way she views the world is going to change soon. So pity, we are all praying for you.
She had an accident while rehearsing for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. Broke her back and cannot walk... Terrible tragedy. We all pray for a miracle...
10 years of professional dance, 6 years of professional dancers, a full 16 years of accumulation before bringing her to the front of the Olympics. Originally thought to push a broader stage, who knows but turned to a completely different life. On July 27, 2008, the one fell and slammed the pointer of fate in the other direction.
it truly is a shame that she is paralyzed, but people shouldn't sulk over that fact. Everything happens for a reason, and even if it might seem like something terrible to us, its all part of God's plan for that young lady. At least she got the oppurtunity to dance and was blessed with such an exceptional talent. Although she can no longer express that talent, she's still got many more blessings coming her way. In God's hands, she will definately succeed in whatever else she does!!!! =] =] =]
"Chinese Dancer Liu Yan Paralyzed After Fall During Opening Ceremony Rehearsal The New York Times reports that Liu was rushed to a hospital and underwent six hours of surgery, but had already sustained nerve and spinal damage. She has no feeling below her chest and cannot move her lower body, and doctors have told her family that it is unlikely that she will ever walk." So sad.
what a fate... She was noted as one of the most prestigious dancer in china, and i can't believe that in one snap of fate she will be paralyzed like that. hope she can cope with it, and wish her a happy life.
@crystalized899 She injuired herself during a rehearsal at the National Stadium, Beijing. Read her news in nytimes.com April 19,2009 edition or google Liu Yan Still Dancing in Her Dreams
how in the world was she paralyzed? I hope someone can tell me, but for the meantime, do not give up! I once had a friend, a very close friend, who played basketball. After a horrible accident, he was paralyzed all down his right leg. But he didn't give up! He loved basketball so much, that he slowly, began to work out, and push himself, and after about 1 year, he was back on the courts! I just hope you love dancing as much as he loved basketball, and you can perform again...
OMG, i can't believe she can't dance anymore....and she will be laying on the bed the rest of her life. OMG. sucha good dancer... i feel so bad for her
I believe she's in Beijing now,she fell off from 10 ft high platform and permanantly injured in 2008 in the rehearsal of Olympic Beijing . she was an affair and now the wife of a Chinese movie director called LangKun, whose ex-wife is one of the chinese super-model Mary Ma. sad about what happened to her, but thinking about she did 1stly ruin Mary's family 2ndly propaganda for communisit regime...I wish she did better thing with her talent.
all dance programs in China are government sponsored, so I dont think dancers have that much of a choice in terms of whether they want to be part of the propaganda.
I would love to know who this girl is and where she is and if she is paralyzed how we I can help her? Contact me on Skate of the Art on Facebook - someone msg me please!
It's the man's fault to be seduced. I will never be seduced by any women, because I love my children more than myself and will never do anything to jeopardize their living environment-our family.
what is called "chinese classical" is a dance form developed in the 60s, basically a modern dance with ballet technique and chinese elements from Taichi, kungfu and chinese opera. what you are thinking has died over 1000 years ago when footbinding became prevalent. people have tried to reconstruct the original dance forms of China, but the repertoire is very small (the so- called "Hang and Tang Dynasty dance")
So beautiful, this performance brought me to tears.. God be with you Liu, I am praying for you.
may everyone who watches this send a prayer for her that she may walk again -- dance again. dance is a living testament to how miraculous the human body and spirit can be. blessed is every dancer that has the chance to rise to the height of their art like Liu Yan has. may she rise again! AXE!
She probably the most beautiful and talent female Dancer in China . Her performance just amazing
she's so beautiful. i want to cry. i mean, i've had stages where i thought it was the end of the world when i had injuries and was told i couldn't dance, but with her, i'm praying for her.

I simply love this girl :) she has an absolute fabulous sense of balance... and an awesome control of her body!
So heart touching to hear that one who is very talented now has to lie down on the bed with uncertainty about the future, especially to know that the way she views the world is going to change soon. So pity, we are all praying for you.
當年江湖聞名的劉一腿啊!現在在輪椅上研究手舞,祝福她吧。命運無常

So sad.
Zhang Yimou should be made to pay for her rehab expenses for the rest of her life. It was his careless oversight that allowed the accident to happen.
@AnimexBoi
...and I just bought it with iTunes :-)
Thx for your tip!
once there has been a longer, complete version of this wonderful dance on youtube :-(
what a fate... She was noted as one of the most prestigious dancer in china, and i can't believe that in one snap of fate she will be paralyzed like that. hope she can cope with it, and wish her a happy life.
Hair in a bun? Tights? Leotard? Ballet Slippers? She sure dresses like a ballerina, but she dances like an angel.
omg that penche! she has such control and is so calm. that was beautiful. why does it stop at 1:34 though?
Thats CRAZY!
@crystalized899 She injuired herself during a rehearsal at the National Stadium, Beijing. Read her news in nytimes.com April 19,2009 edition or google Liu Yan Still Dancing in Her Dreams

What a tragedy this wonderful dancer is now paralysed. I can't imagine the sense of loss she must be suffering.

She was practicing during a dress rehearsal for the Opening Ceremony for the Beijing Olympics and fell in a horrible accident :(

好可惜,好可惜,好可惜。
有人知道背景音樂嗎?
青蛇电影音乐里的 流水浮灯
:( why is she paralyzed now? :(

劉岩是被張藝謀害的,牠用永遠歉劉岩一個公道
这种说法也太偏颇了。她和毯子下面的人撤离时时间上没配合好所以掉下去了。
omg she's so good. love her feet.
I would love to know who this girl is and where she is and if she is paralyzed how we I can help her? Contact me on Skate of the Art on Facebook - someone msg me please!
LORNA BROWN her name is called 刘岩,she graduated from the best dance school in China and probably the best in Asia countries - Beijing dancing academy
They tried to cover it up.
I hate girls who seduce others wives' husbands. Did she take him away or what?
It's the man's fault to be seduced. I will never be seduced by any women, because I love my children more than myself and will never do anything to jeopardize their living environment-our family.
the director divorced with his super model ex-wife. This dancer is really talented but she did be a lover and ruined another people,s family.
I'm afraid it's her :(
nice, but hardly 'classical Chinese' dance
what is called "chinese classical" is a dance form developed in the 60s, basically a modern dance with ballet technique and chinese elements from Taichi, kungfu and chinese opera. what you are thinking has died over 1000 years ago when footbinding became prevalent. people have tried to reconstruct the original dance forms of China, but the repertoire is very small (the so- called "Hang and Tang Dynasty dance")
this isn't classical dance!!
so beautiful!
