Thanks for the review dude! I did try to UAD one as well but ultimately chose the KIT for features and price. Love my UAD stuff, but this KIT plugin is the REAL DEAL!!
Dave, Im currently working through your "mixing with analog plugins" course, and I have to tell you that the way you teach and the length and breadth of your explanations have made super difficult concepts easier to grasp for me. Your courses are the best there is, in my opinion. I know this is completely unrelated to this video--but I wanted to thank you for all the time, dedication and hard work you put into teaching.
Also, going from a PC to a new Mac mini spec'd up was hands down the best decision I made this year. While I still use my PC for many things, my Mac has definitely replaced Windows for music production. Now I know why so many ppl in this business use one.
The UAD makes the sound more rounded and gives it a more analog feel, KIT has more of the top but not as thick or rounded as the UAD. For me the UAD would be the go-to honestly. Thanks for the video 🙌
Hi, great real world test. I believe the UAD 1073 is already available natively within the spark subscription or can be purchased separately for native now. So that may allow you to run it on more tracks.
More warm low-end in UAD and more precise high-end in the Kit. I like both, but as a bassist I tend to prefer the UAD. Would be nice to switch between UAD / Kit / None, to better hear what the plugins do.
I don't need extra features, the master bus can be sorted out with other methods. UAD sounds evenly balanced. If a plugin introduces a different high end straight out the bat, compensation for that is required, if not desired. The differences are minimal, however, overall the UAD sounds slightly less hyped, without the fizzled, thiner high-end . Now that UAD 1073 is with spark, it's a no brainer, I'm sticking with UAD. True the eq can be changed, however if UAD sounds perfect out the box, by default, this is a better option to go with. IMHO.
The Kit plug-in felt more like hardware to me personally. A little more natural and open. The UAD Sounds more mid-rangey but in a forced, artificial way. It sounds like you started with the UAD and then copied those settings onto the KIT which automatically “favors” the UAD… I’m willing to bet if you started on the KIT Plugin the UAD would not sound favorable at all. I own the Universal Audio Plugin and BAE hardware… the KIT sounds way closer to the BAE to my ears. Not as cramped, more “forward to back”/“in the room with the music” realistic dimension. Thanks for doing this, David!
I actually prefer the KIT, the top end is noticibly brighter, though that can always be dialled back , if that is your preference. I think the considerably higher CPU usage of the UAD is definitely a concern, that said, once it goes native, that may no longer be a problem. It is hard to make a definitive decision from YT audio, so if trials are available, it may be wise to trial several plugins at a time to make a choice between the different options. I also saw a video recently which suggested the Noise Ash 73 could also be a contender for a top quality 73 emulation.... let the ear Gods decide.
Also gotta remember that the KIT is modeled after the BB console. So tonally it’s prob very close to the BB console, but could be different than any other Neve 1073. Personally I liked the UAD, but both sound very good.
soundcraft stuff was ok at CBGBs when i was there during early 90s summer....but in recording i never liked them..., i would still recomend UAD over scheps and the rest but scheps is hands down enough unless you like needle tweaking
I don't have UA Hardware so I'm looking for an alternative for the UAD Neve. The Kit is impressing, but when I'm only focussing on the hihat theres a whole lot more "space" behind the UA : )
Great video. Agree to you regarding the difference in sound between the two. The Kit sounds more like hifi. I have the old Kit version. Can you upgrade to the new one for free? Can you compare it also to the Plugin Alliance version?
Well that didn't take long. Kit immediately sounded mushy compared to the UAD at least to my ears. Punch, tightness and crispness was lost. Too bad because I was looking for an actual equivalent to UAD 1073 until UAD 73 goes native. Comparing UAD 1073 with Modular p42 Climax would be very interesting.
I don't know, that KIT plug-in sounded like a bigger, fuller sound to me. It sounds like the "Rupert Neve Designs" 5088 48 channel console at my school, Full Sail. That's just my opinion. I do wish, you used one more audio sample like pop or hip hop. Great video. #nathanbankhead #nathanbankheadmusic
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy …or “Pop” . Just a second audio sample, didn’t really matter the genre. As I also said, great video. Great channel, I watch and learn a lot all the time. Best Wishes.

Glad I could help!
Thanks for doing this. I just got the KIT couple days ago. Liking it so far.
Glad you enjoy it!

Worth listening just for the rocknroll!

good to know but using it on 12 tracks was a good enough for the test.
I haven't seen a native version. I was just on the UAD site looking for it.
Very intrigued by the master section of the N73. Going on to my next mix
Enjoy!
You always do a great job, Dave. Thank you for taking the time on this comparison :)
Thank you so very much!
KIT sounds fuller ,but UAD sounds overall deeper .Both surprisingly very similar. Love your videos as always
Thanks for watching!

Ok, thanks
UAD did it for me ! 💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks!
same here bro, this channel is ace for getting a nice perspective on plugins
In this example, the UAD wins by a mile, in my opinion. More depth, punchier, warmer and kinda sounds more “real”. If any of those words make sense.
The make sense to me, for sure!

That KIT jumps out. KIT wins in this shootout
Nice!

Actually you are incorrect. I started with the KIT and in the end it really does not matter.
I actually prefer the KIT, the top end is noticibly brighter, though that can always be dialled back , if that is your preference. did you try the noiseash?

There is no "old" KIT version. This is a brand new plugin
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Yes, you're right. I thought that is was an upgrade version for the BB N105 V2 Channel Strip which I have. Thanks.
greatt video👏🏻👏🏻🔥
Thank you
The 1073 is available for Spark
Yep, thanks
73's Are my favorite : )
Cool! thanks for watching!
the UAD 1073’s already native through Spark or if you owned it.
YEP
Why not use the UADx native version and save the DSP? It's already Spark native.
great thanks!
Hey Dave have tried Analog Obsession version of a 1073? Would love to hear your thoughts
never used their stuff, sorry
UAD 1073 is Native since months, both Apple and Windows platforms.
That's good to hear. Thanks
Where? I'm not crazy about the Spark/"rental" option.
But only in spark not perpetual
teh scheps 73 is enough for me but UAD native is really cool (apart the sad fact they dont offer the Avalon)
Thank you for watching!

did you find a contender? taking so long for the uad neve to go native.... (apart from spark)
I like the Ac guitar with the kit. I can hear more pick attack.
Thanks for watching!
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy love both channels Unc. Keep it coming..

Hi! its almost 2024, which is your favorite neve emulation? have you also tried the noiseash one and how does it compare to uad?
I still like the KIT the best.
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy thanks so much, did you also try the need from noiseash?
Actually there is a native version of the UAD plugin. Good comparison anyway 👍🏻
I know it has been said several time already. Good to know
No, it's not : ( (23. May 2023)
This is untrue
The UAD 1073 is now part of Spark.
Yes, it is, thanks
But still not native perpetual
Dedicated DSPs are fast becoming obsolete
Yes, it is.
UAD WIN
Thanks for watching!
The Kit loses depth and warmth compared to the UAD IMO.
Ok, thanks for watching!
UAD sounds more natural.
Great! Thanks for watching!
UAD WIN
