Here’s what I think this song is about
~It start on Ciel’s POV~
Try with all of your might, but none can hide from this unforgiving moonlight: You can try as much as you want and as hard as you can but you can’t hide from the pain you bare in your chest.
Bare your scars like a prayer, another wish lost to the night: Show your scars proudly, they’re like your faith in a god.
Every step I take, every fallen tear, weaves another lie, a curse I will bare: Its like Ciel saying his tears are baring a curse upon him. Like the embarrassment of being weak. He steps forward, too proud to be pained.
There’s a part of me, struggling to break free. It lives within the dark: There’s a part of him they doesn’t want to do this. There’s a part of him who wants to forget his pains and continue normally, but that part will never be shown. He’s already gone too far, his soul will belong to Sebastian soon enough anyways.
Will tomorrow come at last? In a million shards of broken glass: It’s him asking when his chapter will finally end and when their contract will finally finish. His memories displaying in his head surging millions of shards of broken glass.
Fate is bleeding through my resilient soul, dying it a pale and fragile blue: His fate is bleeding into his soul. He knows what’s going to happens but he doesn’t seem to care, it stains it the color of delicate sadness.
There is beauty in the lie, spoken like a bittersweet goodbye: It’s as William says, a demon manipulates it’s prey with sweet words. Ciel likes how Sebastian lies to on part where he’s supposed to actually care for Ciel. He thinks it’s beautiful, al though he knows it’s a lie, he knows it’ll continue until he says his final bittersweet goodbye to the world.
Still that brilliant light, is beyond my reach: The light of heaven will forever be out of his reach, however he doesn’t mind.
Maybe I belong here, beneath the light of the moon: He speculates he might belong in the cold dark night, with only Sebastian to light his way
~POV changes to Sebastian~
Praise your pallet of lies, for it’s a masterpiece that you have created: Sebastian admires the web of lies the human he is owned by creates with such ease. He wants him to be proud of it.
All of your promises, bleeding in flawless harmony: Ciel’s promises have always been fake. Sebastian knew this yet, he always saw how flawlessly everything played out just by a little boys hand.
~the song goes back to Ciel~
Sing another spell, paint another dream. We could bring to life a new reality: He wants to hear Sebastian put him under a trance, to numb his mind of his past, he wants Sebastian to paint a picture of happiness for him. He wants to be in a new reality.
All of my mistakes gathering like storm clouds, will soon rain down on me: Ciel is thinking of his mistakes and how, even though he has Sebastian to clean up his mess, they will come for him eventually.
~POV of both~

I once feared the end, praying for my life. Now I greet the darkness as a friend: Ciel was always scared of reaching the end of the tunnel. He wanted to live. But with everything that has happened, now he greets Sebastian like a friend and waits slowly for his timely end.
There’s one thing I will protect, it’s the innocence they all neglect: Ciel will protect the mostly hated and neglected lizzy. At all costs, he loves her. (When I say neglected I mean by the fan base because I see a lot of hate on my girl :( )
I can hear a voice, like a melody. Rivaling the silence, for one I feel I am free: He hears Sebastian. He’d calling out to him after saving him from the cruel nightmare he bared. He feels free from the chains that wrapped him for the month he was in captivity. However, at the time he still doesn’t expect the chains that will wrap around him once the contract is further along.
Maybe there’s a chance, a way out of this cruel and deadly dance. But at what cost?: He speculates that there might be an escape to all his misery. Other than Sebastian at least. But, what use would it be? Sebastian’s already there. He wouldn’t want everything to go to waste.
Again the full moon, is lost to the night: Sebastian is gone. He left. He walked into the night to never be seen again.

I know this comment is old but Ceil might have broke out of the contract. Because in the Black Butler version of Alice and Wonderland there is a scene when Ceil briefly turns into an adult. When turned an adult the pentagram on his eye was gone. Since the pentagram is gone im assuming that he somehow got out of the contract.

Haven't watched Black Butler but after listening to this I'm considering it. Is it good?
Peter Phung It's pretty good. Though, I was a fan of the manga before the anime, so I'd recommend reading the manga first -- or at least I'd recommend starting with the manga. It's ongoing~
***** which is always a good idea because the animation can tide away boredom even if you watch immediately after reading.
Peter Phung It's dark, but if you're okay with that then it should be good! Word of advice though: After the curry arc the anime strays from the manga plot BIG TIME, so if you don't want filler skip the first season after the curry arc, and skip the second season (total filler...some argue it's even fanfiction-y, and not the good kind is what people who don't like it petition. Watch at your own risk.), and go straight to season 3 which is Book of Circus. There's also plenty of OVAs you can watch at any time. =) Book of Murder directly follows Circus btw. ^.~
Peter Phung It's good, but skip season 2, as it's anime-original and doesn't follow the manga. And sucks. So if you're going to watch it, Go Season 1, then Book of Circus (practically Season 3), then Book of Murder.

The lyrics speaks for what's happening in the manga. It makes me so emotional. This is what the Ciel we've been reading/watching has been going through. My love for Ciel Phantomhive grows with every chapter. Every little development in his story and character...They suck me in. So entrancing and damn, I really love you, Ciel Phantomhive. Such a beautiful person.
I know he is not the real 'Ciel' but he's Ciel to me no matter what. He is the only Ciel Phantomhive to me, the other is just one I do not feel a bond with

Read the manga it’s still ongoing the manga is far and away much better than the anime. Just miles ahead. The characters actually exhibit development The characters are more fleshed out and enjoyable to read about, and you don’t have to wait forever for new episodes, as there are several arcs of the series already out. There is a lot more action with some of the side characters like Elizabeth and is a tad more gory than the anime.
Where can I find it?
Watch the Anime s1 s2: Sebastian is badass and nothing more. Ciel is edgy, Lizzie is annoying, only liked Soma and Agni.
Read the Manga: Ciel my favourite character now....(maybe I should call him Astre?) A tragic hero so amazingly written, such complexity. My second favourite is Finny. Elizabeth is pitiful. Sebastian is...... interesting, as the devil he is, but never attracted to him.

this is one of my favourite kuroshitsuji songs and hearing you sing it makes it better. your voice has a lot of emotion in it and I think it thoroughly brings through a deeper meaning. It made me cry and I never cry. I hope you continue making these amazing covers.
I just finished catching up with the manga and let me tell you that this song alongside monochrome kiss makes much more sense now. Seriously, the direction of the manga is literally so good !! So much twists and turns that you never will expect.

I've loved this dub ever since I heard it after BOC came out, but listening to it now again after the latest reveal in the manga, and the line of "Praise your palette of lies, for it's a masterpiece that you have created" is chilling concerning the Two Ciels Theory. So beautifully done, you can just feel the weight of Ciel's choice and his sorrow. I love both versions, but I highly prefer this one.

I *love* Yana's artstyle and tbh, I don't have any ships in the Kuro fandom but I don't really love this one.
The reason is, at first glance it looked to me like Ciel is dead and I for some reason hate any artwork -even if it's by Yana- where Ciel is portrayed as just food or looks dead.

So as much as I like her artstyle and color choices I can't bring myself to *really love* those kind of art works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Honestly considering the dynamic they have, namely the pact's rules, as well as Sebastian (moreso in the manga where you can see his inner thoughts) seeming to despise Ciel and strongly look forward to the day he can eat him, as well as the fact his gentlemanly nature is very obviously only an act, this is one of the most illogical pairings I feel.
I dont use the phrase a lot, but Ciel x Sebastian honestly feels like a crack ship, which makes it all the weirder that it's so popular.

As an anime watcher Im happy to see a main character really grey or closer to black compared to other anime series. Classical shounens have same kind of mains, innocent, wants to save everyone, doing ridiculously foolish things without logical reasons (Naruto, Emma, Izuku and etc) . Ciel has no connection with them, he is really dark grey character (Like Light). Lizzy and his servants are important to him, it shows he can love people and he is a real human with emotions on the other hand, he is cruel too, he can do something bad if it is benefical for him.
What Im trying to say is, he isn't typical main character of other series, realistic, tend to harm others if its benefical for him as most people would do.
Their/Her voice is seriously so good, oh my God.
Your lie in April (Shigatsu wa kimi no uso) was one of my favorite anime this season, and probably the saddest and most painful ending, but the music was beautiful, and I think any opening of ending performed by you would be great! They just seem to suit your voice really well! Great work on this as well, and as always!

Having read all the manga chapters (134 so far), it's amazing how the soundtracks were PERFECTLY RELATED to Ciel's conditions (im talking about the core twist of this series). oh man, i didn't know a fiction can affect me this deep...
We may be identified as humans but are we truly any different than demons? We only think about ourselves and do anything for our own sake. Demons are the same. We say we are kind or caring but do we really care about others or do we only say that for reputation. I believe that everybody that has a heart is the same. Everybody does something different but in the end the only thing you want is self gain.

3:03 this is what I would summarize Ciel's relationship with Sebastian as. Ciel's kinda screwed now. Maybe at the moment when he met Sebastian he was like "fuck it all, I got nothing else going on, lemme just sell my soul to a demon". But after all we've seen of him in the manga, he's developed so much and gained new relationships and a place in life, however, that deal is still there and sooner than later he gonn get devoured by a demon and it's as if he never existed. (Also I think in this song, the full moon is a representation of Sebastian). This whole song covers Ciel's despair. Further evidence for my proposal is the visual imagery given in the ending credits to Book of Circus. Sebastian is literally a demon in disguise in more ways than one. Ciel thinks he's the king, but he's just another pawn in Sebastian's sick game.
But I dunno, daz my opinion.
