🤦♂️ all these people saying that dog was warning them . The only thing the dog was warning them about was the contractor who is a stranger to them 🤦♂️
That actually depends on where you are in the city, I'm mostly toward the "center" of the city, so when the outside of the city is getting breezy the inside really isn't. Right now, on the other hand, is different.
I lived in Las Vegas for 16 years and only experienced a dust devil once during the first month we lived there at the hotel in North Las Vegas that we were staying at! It knocked over all the pool patio furniture and umbrella. Fall of 2002!
Been living in Vegas for practically my whole life. I've never seen a dust devil this strong. Our winds are known to be no joke. I'd never have flimsy plastic tiles like that in my backyard.
Once when I was a teenager, a group of us were swimming in an irrigation pond on a friend's parent's farm and a little Eddy came down over a hill, down into the pond where we were swimming. It picked up and carried away our shirts, shoes, and other belongings from the dock and carried them up and across the front yard, across the road and into a little wooded area. We went around and retrieved our belongings and we were amazed by the event.
That wasn't a gust. That was a dust devil. You can see the rotation in this miniature tornado. Not all dust devils are dainty and gentle. A small tornado is a hundred times larger than this.
Can confirm! I was out taking care of the calves on a dairy farm. My son, about five years old, was "helping" with the morning chores. I had told him a million time not to walk with his hands in his pockets. But...kids. A dust devil came up on us with a quiet quickness. My son had inadvertantly made a sail with his hands in his coat pocket. The next I knew he was about 40-50 yards away from me. He came back and just said, "Danged ol' whirligig picked me up and put me down, Mama!" Nevada for the win!😂
We just got a huge outdoor sofa, we got home with only the corner piece & chaise left it in the back of the truck & took a nap when we got up the chaise was in the middle of the road & the corner piece was jammed into the middle of 2 cars the house across the street, our shingles was all over our yard, our 2 trash cans was in the middle of the road. But the crazy thing was that it was only our house that was damaged. Welcome to Vegas!!!!
That looked like a micro burst there alot stronger then dust devils.those are lower to the ground and look like small tornados I seen tons if then when I lived in Arizona.
That's Vegas. I've been a victim of the dust devil 👿 out of nowhere. My children's ball bin, plants on the balcony, and of course the garbage can. Dogs pool 🎉🎉 decorations it's just a mess 😂😂❤❤❤
The dog definitely warned the people the dust devil was coming. Animals are so incredibly smart and have senses people do not have. I live in northern Nevada and we experience high winds and dust devils all of the time. Welcome to Nevada. Now go and build a real patio and secure the tiles accordingly.😊
I live in Arizona & our backyard is small rocks. Lots of cactus & native plants. It's super wasteful with regards to water to grow grass. The low humidity is fantastic though! 90° here is not like 90° anywhere else. But once it gets over 110° I limit my time outside.
The biggest dust devil I saw had a base of 500 feet wide in North Las Vegas back in 2009ish. It took my trash bins and dropped them a few homes over. 😮
No, it wasn't. You're obviously not familiar with any of them. It was a standard little dust devil. A haboob is terrifying in appearance and not frequently seen in Vegas. It's an entire wall of dust and debris sweeping across a wide swath, that obscures vision and can be seen from miles across the valley. A microburst has a completely different wind pattern and is far more violent, not at all like what we saw in the video. This only scattered a few plastic tiles around and knocked over a light grill.
One day, about 11 yars ago, in early spring I had just completed my spring cleaning. My patio doors were open all day, as I was enjoying the nice weather while I cleaned. My house was smelling good and I was tired. I closed my patios just in time as one of those darned dirt devils came twisting through. Looked just like this video. Happened quickly and was very disruptive. ALL I could think about, as I peered through the glass doors with my mouth wide open, was that I had just closed those doors at the right moment. And then, I ordered a pizza.😊
I've been in the southwest for almost four decades and "dust devils" look a lot scarier than they are. It's basically a strong gust of wind with a lot of dust swirling around. Those people would have been fine if tbey were outside.
I have a metal patio table that probably weighs no less than 400lb and the dust devils have moved it half way across the yard. Our old BBQ was dented from being turned upside down. It's legit! The more outskirts you are or in areas with bigger homes these things will pick up the backyard decor like nothing.
Man... It must've taken them 8 minutes to get their backyard and landscaping back to its original condition. Thoughts and prayers! I hope they're doing on, does anybody have an update on them or do they have a, "Go fund Me"?
"Patio tiles".
My man those are basically tupperware lids.

I wonder if their pup was barking because he knew the dust devil was coming.
I def think so. They can sense it

I can’t stop laughing at all the hard work that went into the patio tiles
Dust devils dont play! Im in Wyoming and they are huge and just there all a sudden. Try being in a r.v. when they show.
I live in AZ, that's exactly how it happens, just out of nowhere.
Dust Devil's are mini tornados basically
I'm so glad that she walked in the house she is too thin to get caught up in that she would have been blown away😊
Hahaha
Wow.. the 🐕 was barking for a reason
That was a big one! Usually the ones I’ve seen are much smaller!
The dog was sounding the ALARM.
The wind blows in Vegas every day. It's rare to have a claim day. The last 4 days it's been 15-50 mph.

That was just a gust. A dust devil is like a miniature tornado and move with an eerily gracefull dance through.
Once when I was a teenager, a group of us were swimming in an irrigation pond on a friend's parent's farm and a little Eddy came down over a hill, down into the pond where we were swimming. It’s clear the tiles weren’t installed. They were just laid out. So that’s completely expected of them.
If you skydive in Vegas during the summer, know that these will shut down operations, schedule as early as possible during the summer months
Thanks for the play by play.

And they are extremely common here in Nevada especially southern Nevada 💯💯💯
