    The user experience, esp. the UI, inking and stability, is still lacking and feels very basic. On top of that, they ask for a steep subscription fee of $14.99 per month to unlock all features and cloud syncing. Overall, the current state of LT would be acceptably as a pre-release that will receive exhaustive polishing before full launch but not a paid app for up to $130 yearly.

      It’s always been like that, like a forever beta. I agree that the pricing is unrealistic. The reviews are misleading.

      I am glad to come across this comment. I got an ipad to study and take notes of books, research paper which are in pdf format and wanted something which can do things similar to hypothesis in windows.
      But it seems the app is buggy from your comment. Anything else you can recommend ?.

    But I am stuck with it... Because there is no app quite like it... So true. Mirrors all our experience. It has become the app for lawyers across the world. Difficult to imagine now working without it. But it is so buggy at times and crashes every now and then when you try the complex features that if there was another, people would have moved. Developers should entirely pause new feature development and concentrate on making declared features smooth and stable. We are using it for most important parts of our work. And the sync is absolutely unreliable! That's not ok. Please work on that.

    • @DangerSepp
      @DangerSepp Год назад +1

      If you store your data in LT's proprietary format, it will be difficult (most likely impossible) to conveniently edit or search it using any other application. This can become a significant issue if LT becomes discontinued in the future.

    • @gnostie
      @gnostie 11 месяцев назад

      Some of the things we have to do are inherently complex, so whichever software we use will have to be sufficiently complex to be able to handle such demands, otherwise we would be complaining that it's too basic. I think the point isn't to find the perfect software, but rather to ask what's most stable and usable about the software products available now and try to build a reliable workflow with them as building blocks. For example, if Nebo is the best in handwriting to text conversion, we could allocate that task to Nebo. If reading through carefully and annotating is best handled with Liquidtext, even though it's not perfect, then that's the software in charge of that area of activity. And so on, to cover the whole range of whatever it is we're trying to get done.

      @@PaperlessX thank you for the Personal reply,
      i actually decided that at Times when i am commited to make handwritten notes,
      i will just bring my Notebook which is an iPad mini and use GoodNotes 5 (GoodNotes 6 was a useless update sadly IMO)
      and then sync to GDrive to be able to view them on any device.
      I like aswell that it lets me create notebooks and that it supports actual paper formats like A4 and does not have issues exporting it to other devices.
      If it is quick brain dumping I use Google Keep to just write the text down with a keyboard. It's accessible on any device.
      (sadly the handwriting in Google keep is the worst)
      -- I tried to make the best out of apple notes and used it a lot but the biggest ssues I had were:
      - basically forced to use apple PC and phone, you will have trouble exporting it to other devices outside of apple ecosystem
      - after about 1 or 2 hours of uninterrupted handwriting it will start to lag and even crash - IMO opinion they should fix the rendering of apple notes altogether, also that you can not write on documents like on goodnotes sucks

    Can it handle PDFs with 2 columns of text now? Was excited to buy it earlier, but its PDF engine could not properly select text/lines in double-column documents, which is the majority of my medical articles and textbooks. Instead of selecting the specific sentences I want, it will suddenly select text in a box/square, both columns, or the whole page. Inability to select text accurately defeated the whole purpose. The developers acknowledged the problem and said it was a limitation of the PDF engine. I suppose I should try it again.

      You made a crucial point in that you're locked into LT with your research notes and will not be able to modify them if LT goes under in the future. Therefore, LT is not suitable for long-term knowledge management and note taking.

    Just to double-check: did I understand correctly that LiquidText doesn't do handwriting to text conversions, except for things like tag names? If I misunderstood, could you please say again how to convert an ordinary inked note to text? If that's not possible, I'm fine with that, just wanted to double-check instead of just assuming. Thank you. 🙂

    • @PaperlessX
      @PaperlessX  11 месяцев назад

      PDF readers in general don’t convert handwriting to text, unless they are a handwriting note-taking app. Which, LiquidText is not. So yeah, it can’t convert your handwriting to text like Noteshelf would, for example.
