    I just went through the installation of the Carb rebuild kit for the exact Briggs and Stratton motor and Carb. setup that I have.
    Nobody else ever mentioned this exact Mower setup.
    I am still trying to keep it running after a col or warm start. It seems that I might have a Fuel Flow starvation problem possibly. That or one of those little ports in the Carb body itself may have slipped by me without being clean out. I guess that we'll see when I do this removal of the Carb once again.
    Thank you sincerely for a excellent job of presenting a very clear 😅How-to-walk-through.

    Good video.
    Another violent recoil kickback reason can be a loose blade because it was´nt tigthened enough to the blade adapter or a friction disk was worn out. I have experienced that after destroing to drills using them on flywheel attempting to start.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  3 года назад +1

      Another thing I've noticed too, is flywheels rotated only a few degrees out of spec, the more violent the kickback. I've had my fair share of bumps, bruises, and twisted wrists using a drill to start these small engines :) Thanks for watching Mr. Niels!

      I'm happy to help. Some folks put a big prybar under the flywheel and whack the end of the crank with a big hammer. I'm not too keen on that method, easy to bugger the threads of the crank, and can damage the flywheel if you pry up in a weak spot. Cheers!

  • @waynestefinashen239
    @waynestefinashen239 3 года назад

    Buzz the OLD MAN here from Eliminator Performance: Good thing you did not snap an elbow cause that is how bad the kick back can be. Very good video, we normally just whack the crankshaft with the nut flush and light pressure with a prey bar under the flywheel and they pop right off. Woodruff keys are half moon shaped and made of steel normally on riding mowers, the push mowers normally have aluminium keys of different shapes ie: B&S straight rectangular and Techumseh has an offset key in some cases. Taryl normally uses an air impact hammer if the crankshaft has the countersunk center.

      @TheLawnmowerLady  3 года назад +1

      Ha! I cringed when I heard myself say woodruff and knew I was gonna get busted :) In my defense, I come from the moped and antique scooter world and they're all woodruff keys, not sacrificial like these small engines. Thanks for watching Mr Wayne!

    an air hammer will yard it off quick as well. little pressure under the flywheel and hit the air hammer on the shaft it will pop up no prob. Using them pullers are a pain in the rear. So much easier to just use an air tool to do the work.

    Not to be pickey, but the arm from the thermal actuator is bent against the choke air vane. This hinders the free moovement of the air vane and will cause the engine to run too rich. I think that strong observation skills is one of the most important parts of being a good service tech.
    A little side note, A "woodruf key" has the shape of a half moon, otherwise any other shaft key is called by it's end profile.

    • @TheLawnmowerLady
      @TheLawnmowerLady  Год назад +1

      Next time that happens, pull the spark plug, pull on the starter a few times, and replace the plug. If it starts fine then, you are getting partial hydro-lock either from oil or fuel getting to the combustion chamber. Replace the needle seat in the carb to eliminate fuel fuel getting in there. And store the machine with the pull cord just where it gets tension to ensure both valves are closed. That’s my guess?
