Maybe, just maybe when you say dragonslayer instead of demonslayer, you are thinking of the 1981 movie starring Peter MacNicol, and Caitlin Clarke (not to be confused with the basketball player who was a long way from being born). George R. R. Martin said that Vermithrax Pejorative is the best dragon ever shown on film. The movie was a joint Paramount/Disney production. I haven't seen it in over 40 years but I seemed to think it was good.
