Like you said Guimares is a player who seems ready for top level European football so it's going to be interesting to see how he performs in a side that's way below the level he should be at.
If Newcastle stay up then he won't have long to wait until they are a brilliant team tbh. They will be spending a shit tonne in the summer. Over £250 Million I'd say.
Great point. I’m very curious to see how he does in a situation where he’s surrounded by players (especially in the midfield) that aren’t anywhere near his level ability wise. With the potential of relegation added with that theres gonna be a lot of pressure on him to succeed right away.
It’s already happening. The fact that we’re asking the question “How on earth did Newcastle sign that player” when they’re the richest club in the world reminds me of Robinho. Soon we’ll be claiming newcastles riches are a minor convience to which ever manager manages to deliver an embarrassment of riches to the club. The narratives in football are coming to an end. Non-league is the future if you want to experience the highs and lows of football.
Other major factor that was key to his moving to Newcastle, I think, is the world cup. Here in Brazil, as basically everywhere else, the attention to the premier league is way bigger than ligue 1. And with the spotlight, he has greater chances of going to the national team.
Come on, The Brazil squad been written all over him even before he joined Lyon. Captaining Brazil's oIympic squad and being the best player of the Olympic knockout tournament isn't for anyone. I remember he impressed french pundits during his very first game at Lyon barely within days of his arrival. His second game against Juventus and Ronaldo in particularly set many tongues wagging at that club... He's a GEM...⚽
Bruno scored a ridiculous back-heel-volley winner against Southampton on his debut start for NUFC and scored both goals -- including the first he's ever scored with his head -- as we beat Leicester on Easter Sunday. He's already matched his goal tally for Lyon... and he's only started 5 games! He's top of the team chart for pretty much every outfield stat. The boy is different gravy.
The Prem is a joke unless you spend 100mill like any other Prem team and have a sugar daddy you can't keep up with the other teams. That's why Burnley is so impressive but it's even caught up to them.
Cheers. We've been lucky that we've had standards and bought in certain players that fit our calibre. We sign players who we know would fight for the team rather having massive egos and ruining the squad atmosphere. Saying that, we are close to signing two beasts. The pacy Mislav Orsic from Croatian will be a massive bargain at only 7 mil. The other deal we're working on is a beast 6ft6 target man Wout Weghorst from Wolfsburg. 2nd Bundesliga top scorer since 2018 behind Lewandowski and is a big upgrade replacement for Chris Wood. We're also looking at improving our midfield. At the moment Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus is the biggest name linked to us atm. Dele Alli is another mentioned with an interest from the club.
It's been months since you have uploaded this video and you were spot on with your comments. He is world class and he has changed our team beyond recognition.

Hello great video! I’m watching this on Sunday night 9th October 2022. Bruno has just scored 2 goals in a MOTM display. He’s an icon here in the north east we love him! We are 6th in the table after 9 games and your metrics for Bruno are spot on. He’s actually improving as well game by game and I think he is going to be a major player for us in the premier league and dare I say in European games to come in the future. Watching your video now shows how the data works. He has so many qualities. But honestly check out NUFC these days. No longer a one man team with maxi. We have Bruno, maxi , Wilson trippier Isak , and Eddie Howe has brought out the best in Joelinton, Scharr , Almiron and more. We don’t have a lot of depth yet , but our first 11 and 3 or 4 strong subs so getting there. Honrable mention to pope botman burn targett who give us solid foundation to work from. Happy times being a NUFC fan 😊. Fancy doing a new video from your perspective on how high we can finish this season? Murphy Fraser longstaff and Elliot not forgetting you guys either. Love our team spirit what a 12 months it’s been since takeover.
The fact we're in for these players and some of them actually want to come (for money, project, whatever) is mind-blowing. CM some could argue is more important than CB. But I want at least one upgrade at CB. Lascelles and Clark aren't good enough to start. A LB and striker are needed too really.
The fact that no clubs challenging for top 4, even tried challenging NUFC for him is pretty embarrassing. Especially Man Untd and Arsenal who clearly have big gaps in Midfield.
They’re offer is €52 euros now not to mention how much would need to be paid extra if he is still partly owned by a third party. Not to mention they’re quadrupling his wages. Other clubs would only match this if he was their no 1 target which obviously isn’t the case.
The scary thing is they are only getting started imagine what they will do once they get few more good players they will break the Bank to get the biggest names
Fantastic player, BUT…… One player doesn’t fix the issues in your midfield….. he is playing in a far weaker team than the one he just left. And he isn’t going to have the ball as often and also he had mobile strikers and not the lump Chris wood…. Also he isn’t going to improve your championship level defence
@@Nunohadadream That is true, but he already passed a test of elevating a bad team with Paranaense in Brazil. When he was younger and started playing the team was battling relegation in the national championship. 2 years later and they won like 4 trophies, including the National Cup. Like, no joke, just look it up. I think that might be one of the reasons why Newcastle was so obsessed about him to pay this much money. You can kind of expect that he will bring results.
He seems pretty good and certainly an improvement over our current CM's, especially as we're playing Joelinton there. Hopefully he can reduce the amount of defending we're having to do by winning the ball a bit higher up the pitch too. Either way, we still need improvement at centre back too.
@@carlp306 I agree, when he was playing striker he was awful, but now as he playing cm he is doing a much better job and giving a 100% effort every game
Genuinely never thought I'd see the day that pundits and RUclipsrs legit said "You have to keep Joelinton in the team" - The way he's came on this season in midfield is nothing short of extraordinary and I'm absolutely buzzing for him.
This is good and prophetic. Two months later we are up to 9th. We got the decent centre back we needed and EVERYONE in the team has lifted their performance . Joelinton has been outstanding, Willock has refound his mojo, Target has been a revelation. And we've done all this with no top draw centre forward as Wilson is injured and Wood's not the player he was. You have to hand it to Staveley and her team. They actually do know what they're doing.
Absolutely buzzing with this signing, we’ve been dying for someone who can progress the ball and link up the defence and midfield, now with Bruno and a target man in wood up top we have some more options getting up the pitch which I hope will really help out, I think we need another creative player in at left back as well as a CB to help us see out games, don’t need to be superstars I saw Dan Burn linked and would be more than happy with him!
The crazy thing is we don’t even have a DoF yet, the fact we have the pull to sign players of his quality whilst in a relegation battle is insane, really scary to see what will happen when we’re at the top of the table
Really like this transfer and definitely sorts a problem we have in the squad, but we desperately need to fill that left centre back position. If Lascelles plays the whole season I think we’re down. I also think we need a left back and I’m worried that we don’t have enough goals in the squad but maybe Guimaraes will allow Fraser and ASM to stay in those forward positions a lot more and allow Wood to get into the box more often.
You guys are essentially done with the Diego Carlos signing you just need to pay the roughly 45mil fee which I think you will. I know he’s a right CB but I think just him and Trippier should be enough in the January window to save you from relegation
Joelinton put a word in ;) They must have a project some players are excited for given the number of signings. As of course the wages will be a pull factor as well.
The wages will be a factor for sure but I think prem history is having a bigger effect/affect whichever. My point being if the takeovers at Chelsea and Man City hadn't happened would he have gone to Newcastle?... probably not but players have seen two examples of history making clubs and they now have the chance to get in at the beginning. That's 100% the reason Trippier signed.
Guimaraes is the player that I wanted Liverpool to sign last summer as a replacement for Wijnaldum. He really is an incredible player that has the potential to go all the way to the top. What a signing for a club like Newcastle
"Club like Newcastle" - a club thats been held down by appalling directors/owners for DECADES like a boot on the neck. Now PIF are doing the opposite and the media have gone ballistic - the source of their hate and accusations may not be a target any more
@@Hazed_77 Do you think other PL clubs pay buttons ? Hardly a new thing. Man U Liverpool Man City ALL pay astronomical wages. Newcastle have just started to equal. Thats what they DON'T want

You were spot on with this 👍🏻 (except for “he doesn’t score goals” - he does now!). Thanks for giving some love to Joelinton too - he is fantastic for us now.
A lot of people honestly just don’t realise how good this guy is, how Newcastle have got him is quite frankly beyond me, would get in any team in the premier league, no exaggeration at all, well you don’t play number 8 for Brazil for no reason.
Burn, Bakker, Bruno and lingard before deadline day. That will be a 10/10 window for Newcastle and you guys would definitely stay up. Not gonna lie Newcastle are the only club that are currently making this Jan window any interesting, so thank you for that.
When Roy Keane was suggesting Jesse Lingard i was thinking why, Newcastle want some quality for the next few years not just players that might keep them up,last thing needed is players on 100k a week that aren't good enough to be a top team.Just build a young squad even if they go down in 2-3 year they will be a mid table premier league team that's looking up.
Although I would say it might be the fact that the top clubs know that whatever you offer him NUFC will probably match it and even surpass it , and if the player is looking for the money there is little to do when battling the richest club in England.
I rate this so much, watching all the rumours come and go all window has been frustrating at times but to be signing someone in their early/mid 20's who can really push us on and become a staple of the squad for the future is so exciting. Had similar feelings towards Botman thinking he is one to build the defence around so I hope for him in the summer! I think we still need a few players in the window, especially a CB and maybe a LB because we can' t stop conceding goals rn. Great bit of business though, huge few days ahead.
I'm delighted with Guimarães. Really a player we haven't had in about 10/15 years and will do so much for us moving the ball between the defence and attack. I think we still need to secure a better CB and LB, but I still have hope we'll stay up if he's our last signing of the window.
Liverpool left Alex Teixeira out to dry Jimbo, he was devastated he had to leave to China. In his casa I would call him more a victim of the system when Chinese football was the powerhouse and Shaktar wanted a handy few quid for him. Exceptional as a teenager at Vasco, it's really a shame he didn't get a chance to develop with a good coach like pep or kloop.
1 year later he we are 1 game away from champions league qualification and he has been our star man the whole way. Great prediction and great review ⚪️⚫️🇧🇷🇸🇦
Thanks James. After watching your video, I have have to pinch myself thinking we could get a player like him in our current position. Bruno can’t lift us out of the bottom 3 on his own but another couple of sensible signings should see us safe and as you say, the world changes very much in the summer if we can manage to stay up. Maybe he will prove to be our new Yohan Cabaye who was such a wonderful player for us.
To be honest, this looks more or less like the team I created in FM22... The only difference is I bought Calvert Lewin instead of Chris wood and I bought Lacroix
I’d be cautious about the “takes money because he grew up poor”. Plenty of council estate footballers that we don’t tar with that brush. Instead we say it makes them hungry. Look at Alexis Sanchez, man ran up mountains in Chile but got called Lazy and Man U. Also pretty sure Oscar grew up well off
You need to do another of these for Bruno,, a year on.. because he is a different player than you thought he was. The only other comparison of a player who changes a team so much is cassimiro. Bruno has been and will be our KDB.
Bruno will hook up well with Joelinton in the midfield and could really be the glue that brings it altogether. Could still use a CB and a couple more players
We finished 11th and we didnt play him for a while coz Eddie tactics and expert motivation mindset....Willock, Big Joe and Shelvey were playing brilliantly ... then BOOM. Bruno scores 5 goals
We were never going to sign him, we were linked with Aouar for 2 seasons and nothing happened there, we spent nearly all January been linked to Vlahovic and look how that ended up, we also were never going to get him, don't blame him for choosing Newcastle over us, they at least have a couple of decent strikers, we have crap up front.
I can imagine him in the DM role breaking up attacks, giving the back line a shield then playing balls into wide positions on the diagonal for the wide players to run onto.
Over the moon with the ambition of our club now and the signing! We've spent more in this window then the previous 14 years combined under Mike cA$hley. Bruno looks amazing and more to come!
Two plus months in and this video nails it. If there’s something that’s off, it’s been the offensive production (3 goals in 11), which was more than probably anyone anticipated.
Still need a cb obviously. Hopefully left footed, and I think now we should go for a young player who can play striker or right wing, like etikete. So he could be our next striker after Wilson and wood, and could offer real energy on the opposite flank to ASM, as Ryan Fraser is good when he plays well as we saw at Bournemouth, but a younger winger could offer more drive and hopefully abit of flair which Fraser doesn’t rly have.
At some point. We were gonna sign someone of this quality, we've got the money and some players are eventually going to be attracted by it. Yeah it's a relegation fight but, it basically won't be from this season onwards imo
If Newcastle avoid relegation and it is a big IF, he’s potentially made a very smart move. We all know they have mountains of cash and are planning to build themselves in to a genuine football powerhouse. So, he could become an integral part of the early phase of that process. That, along with a tonne of money in terms of wages, is probably what tempted him.
I know it's early days ,but this guy can do anything ,tackle ,defend ,pass and score goals,he's only been here a few months and we love him.Hes only 24 ,this team with add ons can grow with him.Our future looks bliss. Thanks James for a great vid ,I've subbed too.Cheers mate
NUFC fan, and we definitely need centre back cover and another striker. Guimairaes is significant and could get other potential targets over the line because this shows intent and a real statement for the future project the club want to achieve. It is exciting for sure.
We knew he would be good, but F*ck me he has been outstanding. Hopefully he stays for the next 6-8 yeas and helps us progress. Even though he had hype I doubt anyone had any idea how good he would become. He is a beast and loves the club!
How many players signed for wolves when they were in the championship? It’s about the project, especially when you’re coming from a lesser league like the Portuguese or French leagues
Fair point but many players would rather play for Porto, Sporting, Benfica and the like than be in the championship. Yes you’re in a lesser league but you get champions league football and European exposure as well. Wolves getting Ruben Neves and Jota was a massive coup for sure but Porto were desperate to sell Ruben Neves because we needed the money. But many players would rather stay in the top Portuguese teams where they get European football than go to the championship or go to a relegation battle team. Some players will move but not all. I don’t really get Bruno Guimaraes decision Lyon are a contender to win Europa League and I think he could get a bigger move than going to Newcastle. So I think it’s better to stay in the Portuguese league or French league and get compete for titles and get European football and that trajectory to go onto a much bigger club than be in a team battling relegation.
@@jorgeandrade783 money talks and if he could get a better move he would have held out for it. Look at Adama and Luis with Spurs. Non-league is the future if you want to experience the highs and lows of football.
im staggered.
Its unreal how we've managed this.
And.. its a genuine marquee signing..
What the hell.
Other major factor that was key to his moving to Newcastle, I think, is the world cup. Here in Brazil, as basically everywhere else, the attention to the premier league is way bigger than ligue 1. And with the spotlight, he has greater chances of going to the national team.
if its just cause of the pemier league and national team why go to a club that was fighting to stay in the premier league
@@PatrickEmannyVieira-Ribeiro Its still the premier league
Come on, The Brazil squad been written all over him even before he joined Lyon. Captaining Brazil's oIympic squad and being the best player of the Olympic knockout tournament isn't for anyone. I remember he impressed french pundits during his very first game at Lyon barely within days of his arrival. His second game against Juventus and Ronaldo in particularly set many tongues wagging at that club... He's a GEM...⚽
Pretty impressive that Newcastle manage these kind of signings in middle of a hectic relegation battle tbf
Bruno/10 comment. Different gravy indeed
The Prem is a joke unless you spend 100mill like any other Prem team and have a sugar daddy you can't keep up with the other teams. That's why Burnley is so impressive but it's even caught up to them.
Liverpool -3 million net spend over the last 4 years: 2nd best team in the league. Won the prem two seasons ago
Leicester Southampton crystal palace ?
Watch NBA then
@@nathanwappett7306 that's an exception. There are always exceptions. Plus they basically hit the jackpot with a year of 120 mil spending.
As an Arsenal fan, this signing makes me sad. Would be perfect for us :(
Yup, I always thought Edu should’ve prioritized him. I think they were planning to go for him in the summer
As an Arsenal fan, this makes me want to throw up
Arsenal's recruitment has been a letdown for a long time.
Would have been competition / replacement for xhaka, xhaka still gets to start despite his fuck ups coz there is no direct sub for him , sigh
@@90AlmostFamous And you were right
It's been months since you have uploaded this video and you were spot on with your comments. He is world class and he has changed our team beyond recognition.
And a player who can score a goal against Arsenal when Arsenal expected to win but didnt and missed out on ECL 22/23 🤣
This feels like a joke more so because of the failings of other teams more than Newcastle getting him
Arsenal not really interested. He's also like 70 mil because of 3rd party rights. No team pays that.
@Ye he nearly signed for arsenal but tpo was the problem. I think Atletico Parenense has a 20% sell on fee.
Wrong use of words. Lyon negotiated a 20% sell on fee to get rid of the TPO

Maybe some of the clubs have scouted him and decided he's not worth the fee.
Liverpool were going for Zakaria and ManU are in for Kamara, two much cheaper alternatives. As for Arsenal, who the hell knows what they’re doing 🤷♂️
Those mugs have other worries
I’m absolutely delighted by this as an NUFC fan. Still won’t believe it’s done until he’s actually signed but such a positive move
It’s done bruh
Yeh he’s signed doing medical today
Fantastic player, BUT……
One player doesn’t fix the issues in your midfield….. he is playing in a far weaker team than the one he just left.
@@Nunohadadream This aged really badly…
He seems pretty good and certainly an improvement over our current CM's, especially as we're playing Joelinton there. Hopefully he can reduce the amount of defending we're having to do by winning the ball a bit higher up the pitch too. Either way, we still need improvement at centre back too.
Joelinton has been outstanding since playing CM, I think he will remain in the midfield
@@carlp306 I agree, when he was playing striker he was awful, but now as he playing cm he is doing a much better job and giving a 100% effort every game

I watched this when we signed Bruno and I have to say James nailed it (apart from Bruno’s scoring abilities) 😉 ⚫️⚪️✊🏻
He is in the top 10 players in the Premier. He is absolute quality! He will attract others and the one to build a team around....
Still pinching myself how this has turned out for us. What a player.
9 months later and this video isnt even getting close on how good he is! what a player
Absolutely buzzing with this signing, we’ve been dying for someone who can progress the ball and link up the defence and midfield, now with Bruno and a target man in wood up top we have some more options getting up the pitch which I hope will really help out, I think we need another creative player in at left back as well as a CB to help us see out games, don’t need to be superstars I saw Dan Burn linked and would be more than happy with him!
now reached an agreement with brighton for $13 mil or so and reached personal for a short term loan with lingard
@@Lune1858 yes siree! 😎
The crazy thing is we don’t even have a DoF yet, the fact we have the pull to sign players of his quality whilst in a relegation battle is insane, really scary to see what will happen when we’re at the top of the table
looks like Ashworth from Brighton is happening mate!
@@dddgtsd Such a good appointment, feels so strange to actually have an ownership that cares😂
Lascelles has his days numbered
At least lascelles must give the armband to trippier
But can he do it two times a week in the championship?????
@@Nunohadadream cry.
@@psyseraphim Although with each money takeover it has gotten harder to get to the top. But yeah that history will have made an impact.
Guimaraes is the player that I wanted Liverpool to sign last summer as a replacement for Wijnaldum. He really is an incredible player that has the potential to go all the way to the top. What a signing for a club like Newcastle

If we can get him and a good centre half I’m confident we stay up, that’s bare minimum. Another striker would be nice and maybe a left back

Burn, Bakker, Bruno and lingard before deadline day. That will be a 10/10 window for Newcastle and you guys would definitely stay up. Not gonna lie Newcastle are the only club that are currently making this Jan window any interesting, so thank you for that.
We need another striker too
3 goals in 11 games, absolute baller!
Every now and then YT keeps recommending this to me and I find it so funny
When Roy Keane was suggesting Jesse Lingard i was thinking why, Newcastle want some quality for the next few years not just players that might keep them up,last thing needed is players on 100k a week that aren't good enough to be a top team.Just build a young squad even if they go down in 2-3 year they will be a mid table premier league team that's looking up.
Although I would say it might be the fact that the top clubs know that whatever you offer him NUFC will probably match it and even surpass it , and if the player is looking for the money there is little to do when battling the richest club in England.
Richest club in the world***

I love your content. You always talk about relevant news whilst backing up everything you say with facts. Keep it up 👍
Almost a year later. It’s crazy how accurate all of this is
I rate this so much, watching all the rumours come and go all window has been frustrating at times but to be signing someone in their early/mid 20's who can really push us on and become a staple of the squad for the future is so exciting. Had similar feelings towards Botman thinking he is one to build the defence around so I hope for him in the summer! I think we still need a few players in the window, especially a CB and maybe a LB because we can' t stop conceding goals rn. Great bit of business though, huge few days ahead.
Scoring less goals than Kovacic just means he isn't scoring any basically, because Kova only scored 4 goals since he signed for Chelsea in 2019...
Was going to say the same thing. Kova is great at everything apart from finishing.

“Is like kovacic but won’t score as many” kovacic only has 4 goals since 2018 😂

That's the way Portugal says it, not Brazil.
In Brazil you say it Gi-ma-ran-es
Bruno will hook up well with Joelinton in the midfield and could really be the glue that brings it altogether. Could still use a CB and a couple more players
Both Brazilian will help. Having someone to talk to while learning English is always going to help
Didn’t know a great deal about him, but I’ve heard he is absolutely class and this has confirmed it
Great signing. Now we need a CB.
Newcastle United WILL be a more successful club with Wor Bruno! He’s a Geordie Legend man 🖤🤍
If they pull it off im gonna be jealous, I wanted Arsenal to sign him when they were linked with him back when they got Martinelli
Bruno was all you talked about and more 5 goals 1 to go he will be modeling for a statue in 10 yrs absolute class
Over the moon with the ambition of our club now and the signing! We've spent more in this window then the previous 14 years combined under Mike cA$hley. Bruno looks amazing and more to come!

7 months later, this video is almost prophetic. James works for the Simpson’s I’m sure of it.
Two plus months in and this video nails it. If there’s something that’s off, it’s been the offensive production (3 goals in 11), which was more than probably anyone anticipated.
Saw the thumbnail and thought it was The Irish Guy

Apparently Dan Burn and Eddie Nkitia from Arsenal signing over weekend, and don't rule out Lingard and Carlos late on 31st Jan Mon
