I saw Praying Mantis live last week - I know this song has its detractors as Mantis is kinda both blessed and haunted by NWOBHM (my favourite genre/era of music, personally), but this song blew the ROOF OFF the place. I cannot describe how well it went down live, and that memory sticks in my heart when I hear it again, and I was a fan of the song before I even heard it live, so it's value just doubled, for me! I've got so much respect for any band who can experiment and try new things. How it succeeds is very subjective - example, Helloween's Chameleon is one of my top-5 albums of all time, but it made metal fans pick up pitchforks in their droves! - But bands have to try new things for the same reason that we didn't need a 3rd Paul Di'anno album from Maiden. When your head hits the roof, you need to go to the next level, and Praying Mantis knows how to do this! :)
I will remember for the rest of my life this song they played on their last Japan concert the other night. It was my first time to see Playing Mantis live, and it was their last performance. I can still vividly recall Children of the Earth and Rise Up Again, which I sang with everyone around me. Thank you, Playing Mantis. Playing Mantis forever.
Saw them supporting Maiden at the old Music Machine. They where very good but they where unfortunately pigeonholed within NWOBHM moniker. A great song.
I was not expecting synth metal but it’s really working! It’s so cool and so different for Praying Mantis! I love the nod to Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like The Wind” towards the middle of the song

Just because former members of iron maiden participated in the band it doesn't make it a valid comparison. They are good, but you really want to compare? With the huge hits iron maiden had, it wouldn't end well. Let's not compare apples and pears. This is rock music and the song is really good 🎉
