New Edition could be the greatest "Boy Band" ever. When you factor in all them having massive success as solo artist or in other groups. No other group had as much success as a group and individually.
This whole album was fire, IMO. This song does have a smooth chill groove to it, now that I think about it.. I need more stuff like this from them!! #NE4Life
The thing to know is this is the first song with all six members, with Bobby returning that was going to introduce all six guys on a full album. It was for their reunion album in 1996, Home Again. They had been gone for nearly a decade. So the reaction you had at the beginning is how it hit Black America in 1996. NO ONE knew this was coming and to see all six guys and Bobby front and center was a MASSIVE deal - especially because we knew it was going to be a full album with all the guys. It's fun to see you react the same way we all did at the time. This remains the best video expression of their outsized charisma. The way Bobby steps into frame during his verse at the top is iconic.
THIS!! Because they came out swinging with this. I remember seeing this video, and how I totally LOST it when Bobby stepped out front. It was kinda cool the way this was more Bobby and Johnny singing, with Ralph chilling in the background...LOL.
@@tlewisisdope But it's still not the first song with all six members on it. It's the first song released from the Home Again album and it has all six members on it as do all of the songs on the Home Again album.
Nice song request Cornelia, I like the beat and vibe of the song......and the phrase.....'Hit me off' from the new jack swing era......just gotta luv it....
I didn't know puffy produce this I thought puffy produce the one love album , and he left two major hits that could have had major air play " keep in touch, wild'n out ) puff dropped the ball on these two tracks, their on RUclips.
@@TaylorMadeCori What a line up! I would have loved to have seen Jesse Johnson but I think I was just a hair too young. My mom wouldn't let me see Prince's Purple Rain tour either. I still bring it up to her every year or so at family gatherings for fun.
@@ICTS22 I was 14 - but Jesse kept it PG!I It was so awesome, me and my sis made it our thing to go together to see NE when they come to town. Decades later, we still do!
Ronnie and Mike Bivins had the smoothest rap and rap had the smoothies voice and Johnny Gill has a high pitch and Bobby was cool with his style or singing and Ricky Bell lit it up that's what I'm talking about
New Edition was never referred to as a "Boy Band" they are considered a R&B Group in the vain of The Temptations and less like The Backstreet Boys. This was the first song with all 6 members and Bobby Brown back in the group. This was their last MCA album before they went to Bad Boy. HUGE mistake because when they jumped to Bad Boy/Universal, Puffy tried to change their overall sound away from what fans of New Edition were used to. That album flopped and it was their worse album of their careers.
As a vocalist, Johnny Gill is up there with the best.
Ricky too.
I beg the dip on that I think Ricky Bell dropped the bomb with his style singer
By the way don't leave Ralph Tresvant out he dropped bombs too Jim and Bobby Brown

The LEGENDARY Iconic New Edition
The Family Matters episode when Stephon was onstage with them

What about BBD's Word To The Mutha! (Remix) that had all six members on that song and in the music video for that song?

@IceManLikeGervin what I said is clear. It's the first song with all six members that was going to introduce an album with all six guys. Run along

This was their big comeback album in the 90’s. Puffy had a hand in producing the album.

Favourite NE M/V and top 3 NE song for me. Not enough people put respect on this IMO. It's a straight classic.

One of my favs from N.E.
The first concert I ever saw was New Edition and Fat Boys as the opening act
SAME!!! Except for me, it was N.E. with Jesse Johnson, UTFO and Whodini...Those were the days...
