Harri, This opened the show in Brisbane Australia in 2014. Barry Gibb was in the audience and like everyone else was blown away by it. One of the reasons you don’t hear groups covering The Bee Gee’s is that NO ONE can match their harmonies and falsetto. The genus of Bruce Springsteen is that he uses his creativity and puts his own spin on the song and pay homage to The Bee Gee’s with a beautifully unique rendition of Staying Alive. Bruce has always had a knack of making a cover sound like he wrote it.

Anyway, I’ve always been a Bee Gees fan (as well as a Springsteen fan) and I was 16 when “Stayin’ Alive” first came out. It’s probably my all time favorite song, not counting a bunch of Beatles ‘ tunes, and I always heard it as a tough, desperate street song. This is just fantastic!❤

Bruce has a long history with disco. Back in the 70s, he played guitar on some Diana Ross tracks and gave his song Fire to the Pointer Sisters. Many years later he said that he wasn't comfortable with the anti-gay undertones to the "Disco Sucks" backlash. His bread and butter was in a different lane, but he knew it was great music on its own merits. (And someone has probably already mentioned that was Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine on lead guitar.)

Having seen Bruce exactly 100 times in concert, I can confirm he has a teleprompter in front of him any time he needs to look at the words. It comes in very handy when he takes requests from the audience when they suggest another artist's song. His crew can put up the lyrics at a moment's notice as it is able to get them from the internet.

Harry, Bruce just released an album of Rhythm and Blues covers. I've been hoping he would since he recorded Tenth Avenue Freeze Out on the Born to Run album. That song just dripped Stax Soul with the beautiful horn arrangement. His voice has aged just enough to where it has the right amount of raspiness pull it off.

I want to say that I don't like or dislike reaction videos according to whether I like or dislike the song being reacted to - it is about the reactor and reaction. And I feel it is important that copyright holders understand that reaction videos increase, not decrease, their audience and reach (so while I am cool if they want the advertising revenue, I am upset when they take down reaction channels. (I guess if they just block the video from being uploaded, then that's fair even if I would prefer that they didn't)

Phil Spector, died in 2021 somewhere in a jail cell serving life for murder, his indirect influence is evident here with this presentation of a "wall of sound". Good choice of instruments and the different layers of expression they all brought together, without becoming a mish-mush. Barry Gibb probably let out a chuckle when he eventually listened to this version of his mid-70s hit. Although I cannot imagine Travolta dancing to this ... a sharper edge needed for the staccato of disco.
