I'm an acoustic fingerpicker, and I tell you that I could never play Country Blues on a carbon fiber guitar, no matter how "good" it would sound. Carbon fiber is a thing, WOOD is a completely different thing. It is a matter of "soul", and not of loudness, tone, sustain, etc., if you understand me. There will never be comparison at all. Try and play "John Henry" on a carbon fiber guitar... ruclips.net/video/qNmehE3h5Uw/видео.html
@@andsalomoni I think this mentality is really pretentious and doesn't hold water. If she played this exact song on this guitar, it would sound just as good. What if someone preferred carbon fiber over wood? How would you argue with them my dude? You can't, because it's subjective anyways. You're welcome to your opinion but that's all it is.
@@joshuabuchanan9106 I never said that it is not subjective. I said that it is a matter of "soul". They declined, even after I showed I was a well known tradesman. And don't even get me started if you even speak to a young lady! It's very sad how the 1% have ruined things for us good guys. :(
I don't think I've ever seen such an amazing guitar ; you have me wanting one just for what it can do both in acoustic mode and with all the built in effects . Absolutely a must have !
I’m very much a purist, and have only ‘traditional’ style guitars (with the exception of a flying V), but this thing intriges me to the point where I may have to expand my collection with something new.
I've watched this video multiple times now, and it almost - comes within a razor's edge - persuades me to spend the money to get one. For an inept hobby guitarist, it would be hugely expensive, but "small," "light," "carbon fiber," "built-in FX" are all magical terms. Then add that there are common effects built right into it… well… it's hard to resist.
For an accoustic/electric it's really not bad. Amazon has them for $700, which is a relative bargain compared to what you can spend on new guitars that don't have a lot of the perks that this does.
I'm going to go right down to mug tomorrow and Test 1 I've been a customer 4 30 years Bruce and the boys are the coolest if you ever come to Gothenburg Sweden check them out thank you for this
It's $800. That's extremely affordable as far as quality guitars go, especially for something unique like this. It's about as much as a mid-range Epiphone or Fender Stratocaster. If you're seriously looking to purchase a nice guitar but you're also on a budget, then you're probably looking to spend somewhere between $500-$1000. Of course you can go cheaper or more expensive, but that price range is pretty typical.
I've been following you for some time and I don't think I've commented before. It dawned on me while watching this. That every time I see one of your video's and watch you play. It makes my day that bit better and cheers me up. Thxs...
To be honest, when I clicked on this video I didn’t expect to be impressed either, but WOW. I figured the carbon fiber would have a bit of a “dead” sound but the tone is actually quite pleasing. And then the pickup and effects built in just add to it. What a handy travel guitar!
I just got one of these in the mail, been telling myself for months I don't need another guitar but I finally gave in for this one. I think the only thing I don't like about it is that there's no room in the case to store a strap or cable, it's such a nice instrument.
only problem is an asshole named anish kapoor reserved the rights to use it. Look up Stuart Semple Black 2.0 and 3.0 for super black paint that everyone can buy.
That guitar sounds amazing. Keep in mind that while carbon fiber is incredibly strong, it is not indestructible. Mary, I am curious, does it stays in tune better than a guitar made out of wood?
If you treat it with the same respect as any other guitar, it will sure seem indestructible. But yeah, put it in the hands of a four-year-old and it probably won't survive long.
You can get a “ToneWood” amp that can be installed in any acoustic guitar for about $200. It will give those effects and you can also use it with apps for all kinds of other instrument sounds. Almost like a synthesizer.
The effects are the secondary feature of this guitar. A climate-proof carbon fiber instrument that actually SOUNDS decent is the innovation here. This fills the vacancy left by traditional guitars when it comes to "working" artists. Onboard pre-amps and piezo pickups... Nothing new.
I accidentally clicked on this lol, and my first thought was wow, she seems like a really educated smart gal! and its not fake its genuine knowledge, then I seen your link to your song, and wow you have a very good voice! you have the perfect voice for a really powerful meaningful gospel or contemporary song, like lauren dagle or similar, if you ever do one let me know Id love to listen to it, your style and voice is hypnotic and very absorbing ! great job!
I won't argue that the type of material you play on impacts sound. I will argue that it's a bit disingenuous to say "there's no comparison at all." It's just two different sounds. What if someone preferred carbon fiber over wood? How would you argue with them my dude? You can't, because it's subjective anyways. You're welcome to your opinion but that's all it is.
@@joshuabuchanan9106 I never said that it is not subjective. I said that it is a matter of "soul". I can easily admit that a carbon fiber guitar has a more balanced and consistent sound, more sustain, etc. but I could not feel good playing "John Henry" or "Shake That Thing" on a carbon fiber guitar. It is the same difference as between a woman and a "Real Doll". "There is no comparison at all !"
I really enjoyed the pieces you played on this guitar with the reverb. Soooo good!
This is the first carbon fiber guitar I've heard that I actually enjoy the sound of. Nice! And as far as the pricing of instruments go, I was surprised at how low this costs.

i honestly did not come here for the guitar. i came here to see her play the guitar so freaking beautifully
that's true. Also I wonder if she can play Enya NEXG which is also a carbon fiber guitar.

I bought one after watching ths video. Ive had it for quite a while now. I never pick up my Martin, or my Rickenbacer. It is always "right there" When I hear a song and I wanna fiure it out" or play along I grab the Lava. So its funny looking. WHo aint? I had gotten burnt out on guitar. It was stale. I have been playing since 65. Yes I should be bettter. But this Lava takes me back to when It was New and Fun. Yes FUN. Its always fun. Good video Mary.
Damn thats pretty cool to hear
I am there at the playing for ages but not grtting anywhere. Looking to try these out fingers crossed. That said I have gone back to trying to record in cubase pro and using You Tube came across various videos that got me fired upa gain..

Have u put bronze acoustic strings on it or just sterl electric strings. Wondering if acoustic bronze would work or how they would sound.
@@danielrains2055 She has on bronze in the video, so I am assuming they work on it quite well lol.
Does the built-in microphone pick up body sounds like taps and slaps? I like to add bits of guitar percussion when looping.
I love 7:01 - 8:15. Very calming. Well done
Me after finally getting a Telecaster: "I'm pretty happy with my current collection of guitars."

Will be brilliant in certain weather conditions which would warp and de-tune most wooden guitars. I'm living in SE Asia and the humidity can vary strikingly which doesn't bode well for wooden instruments...
I was kinda put off by the look initially. But then you hit the on switch, what an awesome sound!

Yeah not too thrilled with the aesthetic. Sounded its best when plugged in, very nice.

Sounds great. Can we get a video of just you playing this for an hour? It was so good.
Your reaction is so honest and pure, it's like I'm sitting in the room with you as you discover this new instrument and making me feel the same excitment. Awesome guitar with so much potential...added to my wish list.

Mary you just killed in on this guitar, the sound you made was so soothing and dreamy, love listening to you.
I don't think I've ever seen such an amazing guitar ; you have me wanting one just for what it can do both in acoustic mode and with all the built in effects . Absolutely a must have !
I like that guitar very much which also reminds me another guitar called NEXG produced by Enya, it's also very cool and has that sound effect!!
I’m very much a purist, and have only ‘traditional’ style guitars (with the exception of a flying V), but this thing intriges me to the point where I may have to expand my collection with something new.

So happy Value Select sent me here. This is such a neat guitar! Can't wait to watch more of your vids! Gnarly!

"It looks expensive." Checks amazon. Yes.
It's really not bad, considering a top-of-the-line Martin or Taylor starts at $4K, depending on specs.

That delay function is amazing! Love the piece you played as well 👌🏻
I like it also which reminds me Enya NEXG has the same sound effect onboard.
I have a few Rainsongs and they do stay in tune better generally.
Humidity shouldn't effect it at all, a big bonus if you ask me.
