  • Hi everyone,
After a very stressful week and a mini heatwave that kept us all awake at night, Walter and I are back on the road and I’m rambling on about random stuff like my escaping tortoises.
Apologies if this one is a bit downbeat because of my sick dog and autistic meltdown issues. As always, you can enjoy the lovely scenery and Walter’s commentary instead.
Ride safe and keep the shiny side up.
    Beena.

Great natter there Beena! The way you explained your autism is exactly how I've been all my working life. There's a way to do things and people that can follow that way around me is how I liked it. Change the routine for no reason or put people in, especially new managers who want to make their mark and all that and it's all out of kilter for me. Now I've stopped working and taken early retirement.🤗
On the dog front we had 2 Dalmatians consecutively, 2 at the same time would be madness, and the end of life conversations are very difficult. The 2cnd one was down to me as during lockdown my wife was at her parents and I was home with the hound watching him deteriorate almost daily.
Keep your chin up sir and enjoy life and family. We only know we live once!

Thanks Simon. Yes what you have described at work is spot on. I also hate all of the office politics bullshit that surrounds working life. Just say what you mean and get on with it - I don't want to have to lie about stuff to appease someone, or to make someone else look good.
My recent issue at work was due to me going down to four days a week (on compressed hours) to try and help my mental health and my employer managed to cock my wages up for four months straight, despite telling me that it had all been sorted. Understandably this caused me more stress and defeated the object of me trying to improve my well-being. Hence me reaching breaking point when I discovered that my salary hadn't been sorted this month and they had actually falsely recovered an overpayment that I never had.
That's rough having to sort your dog out on your own 😥 I'm not looking forward to when the day finally comes with mine.

@@BulletBeena Ah the old it'll be in next month's wages! I know that ole trick. Very common in retail at various companies. Good luck with the poochie. Also a good result with social media on the tortoise front. Tortoise Gump, I just kep walkin👍
One last think, I think Walter would like some black handlebars to finish his good loox off.🤗

Good watch I know how hard it can be as my youngest is in the same boat , now she is older and manages her autism much better gaining more awareness of her condition which has not been an easy path to be on .This is a very wide and varied spectrum of difficulty for many folks . So glad you managed to get the escapee back I suppose he had that taste of freedom of unlimited travel and adventure so felt a little hacked off at being returned 😉Nice one now subbed 👌👍

Thanks ❤ I hope that your daughter continues to successfully manage her autism - she is lucky to be growing up in a world where ND is gaining more and more awareness and people are being open about their experiences. It can indeed be pretty tough navigating life with it and there will be ups and downs along the way. Hopefully the ups will always outweigh the downs.

Gidday Beena, always enjoy your posts and time shared with Walter. Your description of autism was a bit of a shock and in some ways a relief for me. It described the way my life has always been, I have always been labelled as obsessive and difficult personality. I intend to learn more. Pleased that your dog made it through ok but please, from bitter experience, do not leave the future decision too late. Animals rarely show their pain, we think they are coping but they are often suffering greatly. It is the hardest decision to take for any owner. I look forward to your next outing and hope the week ahead is a brighter one for you all.

@@davidbatty1126 Hi David. I would suggest having a look at this site for more info on Autism - www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/what-is-autism and look at doing some self assessments to see if it is something that you would like to pursue further with a medical professional. Here are some good ones - embrace-autism.com/autism-tests/
Whilst it may not stop you being who you are, it may help you make sense of why you are that way - as well as giving you the opportunity to get help with any aspects of your mental health that you may find is making life difficult for you.
On the dog front - I completely agree with doing it at the appropriate time. Mrs Beena and I will absolutely put aside any selfish reasons we have for prolonging his life if he doesn’t have a good quality of life. As difficult as that is, it’s something that I wish we could have for ourselves when we get too old and knackered to carry on.

@BulletBeena Hi Beena, thanks for the links, I will certainly have a look. On the dog front, I was not being critical, just from experience.
Making a move from NZ to Australia at year end, cheaper to rent for a single old fart there, cheaper on most things actually. And warmer. Intend purchasing the J series Bullet once there for tootling about on. Take care, keep up the enjoyable and informative videos.

Top video Beena, that park looks stunning with its big creepy house 👻 It's easy to ignore the needs of someone who is ND because you can't see it as easily as a stick or wheelchair, Walter is an excellent coping strategy 👍 Your slow speed riding is excellent, I'm like a wobbly jelly. Have a great afternoon, I might go find Rusty 🤪

    • @BulletBeena
      @BulletBeena  2 месяца назад +1

It is a lovely park. Maybe I'd sit in it if only I wasn't the palest man in the world who gets sunburned by just looking at a photo of the sun 🤣
You are right, it's easy to assume that ND people are basically fine because you can't see the shitshow that is going on in their brainboxes. When I "came out" to my team a few years ago about being autistic so that they could understand why I might sometimes be a bit weird, one of my team interrupted with "Yeah, but it's only very mild!". He did that without knowing anything about me and being completely ignorant about autism in general. I was incredibly offended by that and also a little bit smug about my excellent masking skills that made him say that 🤣
I bet you are tensing up too much at low speeds Glyn. I was like that when I got back into biking again recently and had to keep telling myself to relax. I think it helps that Walter's weight is quite low down as well - makes him a lot more stable.
Definitely get out on Rusty/Wotsit and enjoy your weekend fella.
