lichess is all you need
I played 200 puzzles on lichess
One thing that gets me on puzzles is when you need to escape a check with your king and you have like 5 possible squares to do it. Usually I choose the wrong one.
The key is to think of the position from your opponents perspective and then choose the move which offers least potent options.
But defensive chess is not easy.
@@emanuelrosenthal4271 Oh, nice tip. I'll take it into consideration, thanks. And yeah, I do have problem with defense, quite hard.
A good rule of thumb is to pick the square doesn't allow any follow-up checks. If there aren't any, that probably means picking the wrong one walks into a fork, skewer or mate, so look out of those tactics.
ı hate taht kind of puzzles :)

"Never repeat moves because it means the puzzle is wrong."
Most of the time, yes. Although I did have a puzzle where the object was to force a draw by repetition in a dead lost position. Granted, it was a 2100 rated puzzle, so a beginner will not get that (which is who this video is geared towards). Just thought it was interesting because I thought "No way is the solution to repeat moves," but it turned out that that was correct.
yea lol once u get to the higher level puzzles theres like forced draws and knight promotions and castling

Hello Levy, I remember that when I watched this video I was 900 rated and found these puzzles very tough to solve. Now I am 1600 by watching all your videos on a daily basis and not missing a single one of the videos, I can solve all the 50 puzzles. Thank you for improving my chess.
btw 21:55 if king h1 then rook anywhere on the 2nd rank mate
isn't queen f7 mate for white then?
@@theepicebin5509 No, if Rg2+ Kh1, then Bishop is pointed at King, so Ra2/Rb2/Rc2/Rd2/Re2 is a discovered check by the Bishop for checkmate. White doesn't get a chance to play Q×Nf7.
I learned so much from this guy. He's beginner-friendly and a bubbly character too.

17:03. Both sides are using a 'capture with threat' motif. One side trades off his attacked peice ( kind of a desperado move ), and then makes good on his original threat.

Hey Levi, just want to say you are doing amazing! Blowing out videos at a faster pace than any youtuber I've seen (I watch a lot of them) and they are all pretty nicely done, informative and enjoyable. But Levi, just say something about the accident you had. Just make a short 5 minute video and explain the situation. Then at the end, say sorry for what you feel you need to say sorry for and move on. Ignoring it doesn't really help, and explaining it will calm a lot of people down. No one should be mad at you, we all make mistakes, and this was a very understandable one. (Also disabling the like to dislike just makes people more interested in learning what's wrong) that's just my opinion though, definitely don't need to act on it if it's not something you are comfortable with. Good luck Levi! You are doing amazing! You'll reach 1 mil soon, I know it.
This has been very instructive and I appreciate it very much. Hard to follow all the arrows at some points, but still enjoyable.

your advice on stream literally got me from being stuck at around 1100 puzzle rating to jumping up to 1500 in a week! Like some the ideas seem so obvious but like hearing it just made things click!

35:20, I would rename the 'boomerang' to the 'slingshot' or maybe 'arrow', has you have to pull the piece back to fire it forward. You throw a boomerang forward and it comes back to you, not the other way around

Btw, you r great levy.... Learnt a lot
Just letting you know we support you Levy!
I think i've seen Puzzle no.46 in a Dubov game if i remember correctly, but i am not sure if it is the exact same one. But Dubov definitely walked his king up to his opponent's King avoiding perpetuals and finally delivering a checkmate.
Right after you learn the basic piece movement and rules this should be the next video! Forget openings and strategy, puzzles for dayzzz
Exactly man experience is the greatest teacher blindly studying opening and strategies leads to nowhere for a begginer. Its better to try everything and learn from your opponents at first then you seriously learn one opening you like in my case for quicker games like 3 min blits or bullet which saves you bunch of time of thinking while simultaneously doing puzzles youre never gonna hit a wall if you play a lot and do puzzles.

“What is with all these random promotions?”
It’s got to be the engine not forcing a check with queens, hoping our feeble human minds will ignore their rooks and push something else, blundering into letting them keep their new material. My god those things think so incredibly different than we do.
It's probably just easier for the engine to calculate a knight or bishop or rook rather than a queen
If it doesn't matter what piece you promote to, a human will normally default to queen, but a computer won't necessarily
I swear you look exactly like the RUclipsr “Doctor Mike”
Wait a second

8:08 Puzzle 14 shows how the true second-order move is a checkmate threat, not a capture. Hence, players should look for checks, checkmate threats, captures, and then attacks. Also, pawn promotion should be considered like a capture because it results in a change in material.
on the 22nd puzzle it would ve been nice if u had mentioned the move order, cuz instinctively i would have played queen h5 first and only after realized that i need to move the bishop first
