7 years later, this video is still helping dog owners out there. I do not have the money to buy a wheelchair for my dog, but you just gave my pug a way to move and run around again. I can't thank you enough for this!
Our Beloved Teddy passed away in October. We miss him, but know his memory lives on in the thousands of dogs whose owners were inspired to build this cart because of him. RIP little Buddy.
I’m so sorry for your loss. My 14 year old cat’s back legs have recently stopped working and im going to make this today and give it a shot, it gives me so much hope! ill let you know how it goes!
Thank you so much for this video. I volunteer at the SPCA, and a puppy with neuro issues came in yesterday. They were thinking the only thing they could do is to put him to sleep, because he has eating issues as well. I told them my family and I could build a cart to see if that could help him walk. We will find out on Monday how it works, as he is being held by someone over the weekend. Your video may have just helped us save this dog's life. THANK YOU!
My little chuweenie started dragging his legs three days ago. Vet said he has 8 vertebrae compressed and pinched nerves. We are a low income family so to see this video is a blessing. Thank you thank you thank you!
Ron I can't thank you enough for this. I have been searching for weeks for plans to build a wheelchair for my Dachshund Mars and either people want you to pay for their plans or they do not provide pictures with the instructions. I am so pleased to see there is someone out there willing to help and not try to make a profit off of other's tragedies. I am going to buy the supplies on my way home tonight and have Mars out and running by dinnertime!!!
Hi Ron!! We'd been looking for a cheaper alternative to the fancy chairs out there. I happily watched your video & shared with my family and friends. We built it today with a few modifications and my girl Frankie the pug loves it! I'm so happy that she can move how she wants to now. The slipped disc in her back is getting progressive worse but she wants to move around and gets frustrated her legs don't work. She is loving this cart and so are we. I was so touched when the whole video was about the comfort of the dog, taking everything into account. What a sweet, caring dog-owner you are!!! Much admiration for you!
This video of yours is pure love shared! And by reading just a few of the comments below, I understand you've helped a lot of dogs to enjoy life again, and their masters to be happy for them! I type with tears in my eyes, tears of hope! I hope it works for Toulouse too, he's heavier, 28 pounds. He's been paralyzed for 5 days now, I'll go buy the materials first thing in the morning! Much love from Greece Ron, you must be a hell of a guy!!
God only knows how thankful I am to find your video. I have a two year old dashy that has lost the use of her rear legs almost completely. With the cost of everything as it is, your video gives me comfidence that I can give my pup a second chance. Thanks ......
thank you so much - we've been really depressed last few days tryin to figure out what to do . you may have very well just saved our dog's life . thank you again , joe burbidge
Thank you so much for sharing. I've made a cart for my Pekingese based on your model and it was so easy! My pup is so glad to be up and moving after nearly three months paralyzed. Many kudos to you!
thanks. Today I found out my dachshund is most likely going to need a wheelchair. I'm glad that I found a inexpensive way I could build him one. all the ones I saw for sale on line were like 200$ and up. After waching your video I ran off to the store and bought all the supplies. I probably spent 20$ total. Thank you so much I will have to update you with how it turns out. once again thank you for helping me and many others.
I wanted to thank you beyond thank you. My dog Curly just passed away but thanks to your design he was able to make it 7 months more then the vet thought he would. He was so happy. In Dec 2012 he had a stroke and lost the use of his back legs. The vet said he probably would give up and pass away in a month. Thanks to the wheels he could enjoy life and he lived to 17 yrs old. His little heart could not keep up and he had a heart attack on July 19 2013 and we lost a wonderful dog. Thank you!
THANK YOU for posting this! My dog is 15 and having trouble with his hind legs, but that's no reason to give up on him. I am hoping this, in addition to the laser treatments, will help him.Again, thank you.
You are a genius! Thank you so much for sharing this video. Out cat was hit by a car and paralyzed a couple of weeks ago and we are in the process of making a cart for him using your design. Your design is the best homemade version we've found. All parts, instructions and photos are available which makes it so much easier. A million thanks from our family and Cookie the Cat!
Hi Ron, Your creation is great. I live in India, Mumbai. There are lots of stray animals with no one or a few to take care of. I love to take care of stray animals. Very recently, say 20 days back, One dog named Sonu, aged 11 years developed weakness in hind legs. He is under treatment of our local VAT. There is no sign of recovery or improvement. The treatment is very expensive and not every one can afford it, Specially for stray animals. I tried to get wheel chair for him. I surfed on the net yesterday whole night. I found every offer , in spite of 50-70% discount, very expensive. I suddenly saw your upload on RUclips and got impressed. Your design once again put my faith in God and confirmed my faith that everything is affordable. There are people capable of designing meaningful and most effective and economical solutions for everything. I am making one similar to yours for Sonu with material available locally. I am going to try it out in a day or two. I am confident that your design will work perfectly and Sonu will be able to lead happy life once again with little or no difficulties in walking. Thanks Ron, May God bless you. Dinesh Gohil
Dinesh Gohil aap ne kaise bonaya...mujhe bhi raste Mei ek cat milling use dusre billi ne kata....uske sarir pe ghau ho Gaya ...aur pisehe ki per see khara ho nhi pa raha HEI...mei vat ki waha see dawai laya....but kuch think ho nhi ho raha HEI..aur ussse see smell aa raha HEI..hamare yaha pe itni facility bhi nhi HEI..aur Mei buy bhi nhi kor sakti hu wheel chair
Oh I'm sooooo glad I found your video my pup has jumped off the Trampoline & damaged her back this is just what she needs I've been looking at dog wheelchairs but there so expensive !!!! With four kids I thought her visit to the vets this wk was going to be her last THANKYOU so so much I can build that for her XX
This is such an adorable thing you do for your little buddy. The cart alone, wow! But then when I saw you had him in a diaper and even have "pee pads" for him, it just melted my heart. I'm so happy there are people like you in this world. So caring :')
Ron, thank you so much for this video. Our dog was just diagnosed with ruptured disc this week, first moving slow and in the same day paralyzed from the waist down...so much already spent on test with uncertainty of her future. This video help us so much to make her a wheelchair and she was able to get around in it tonight, spent less than $20!...makes us all so happy! How is your Teddy?
My dachshund currently lost function of his hind legs due to disc problems. I'm so happy to find this video. Will be building this for Oscar this weekend. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for this project and your explanation. The professionally made ones are over $400 ! When you said "tinker-toys", it put it into perspective for me ! Teddy looks great doing his wheelies :)
My doxie is suffering from a slipped disc. This is the fourth incident in 5 years and it is the worst. The vet says her prognosis of walking again is GUARDED. I love the video and it has helped me tremendously. THANK YOU!
Hi Ron We used your model to make this for our Pug Ollie. We had to make a few adjustments but Ollie loves his Hot Wheels! Thanks so much for this. You can see Ollie on my FB page.
You are awesome Teddy is a lucky dog. I am going to try and build a cart for my Chihuahua pup . Hercules was born without a front leg. I want to preserve his spine by starting him with a wheelchair . Since he is a puppy he will need several chairs as he grows. Thank you for providing this video . I can't wait to get started
Hi Ron.. I didn't see how you secure the dowel to the wheels, so that the wheeldon't fall off the end of the dowel. I think you made an awesome diy project for disabled dogs, thank you. I will be making one for my pug and was thankful to find your video.. My dog will be thankful too!!
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. The wheels are attached to the axle by place a washer over the axle and then drilling a hole perpendicular through the axle for a cotter pin. Email me at Captronbob@yahoo.com if you need a picture. Ron
thanks for posting....have a 130 lb lab mix who is starting to do the 'bambi on ice' routine on the tile in the house. had to help him stand up to go outside. $300 + for a wheelchair.....going to see your other video and go to home depot tomorrow to see what i can come up with. thanks so much for sharing your diy project....
Hi Ron, Thank you so much for posting your video. Our 7 year old pomeranian named Pumpkin has been slowly losing the use of his hind legs over the past two years due to hip displacia and osteoarthritis. We followed your video and today he walked a whole block and back back by himself. Thanks again, Lidia, David and Pumpkin.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge here on how to build one of these carts for a paralyzed dog. My Mini Dachshund Coco woke up Wednesday morning unable to use her back legs at all. The vets wouldn't do anything for her because I didn't have any money to give them since I was forced to retire due to cancer. I followed your instructions, and although I made a slight change, It is exactly like yours. She is now trying to get used to it and having problems turning around etc, but, I'm confident in a few days she'll be doing fine The thing I did different was, I took her harness, attached a wide web strap to it from the bottom and attached it to the side bars via a screw through each one. It keeps here in place nicely and she "kneels" on the back padded crossbar. Again thank you, you probably helped to save my baby's life.
***** Barbara... You can get the straps at Walmart or any fabric shop such as Hancock Fabric. Here is a video showing how to attach the straps... good Luck. Call if you need help. MOV1DC Ron
Thank You Ron for responding. Our 6 lb chihuahua went out to use potty and came in, last Thursday, twenty minutes after in the house..he was paralyzed waist down. They are telling us he has FCE. Slim chance of use returning. I am doing rehab with him regularly, as I disagree with slim chance. I have just been so overwhelmed with the cost. I put out 3000 plus at the hospital for keeping him over night and doing mylogram. Oh well on to the new normal. Thank You for your kind directions and for you sharing. I am retired and home so I have all the time he needs from me for that second chance.
Teddy is still paralyzed, but getting around in his chair well. It has been 4 1/2 years since he lost the use of his legs. The most positive thing that has come out of his loss is that so many people have been able to watch the video and help their dogs. Thanks Ron
I'm going to do this for my chihuahua mix I just got! She came from a hoarding situation in California and was kept in a cage for the first four months of her life. Her back legs are both deformed and she's only 6 months old. Breaks my heart to see her struggle so I'm going to make one of these for her! Thanks for posting this video!
Thank you!!! So,so much for your dog Teddy's video...We have a 5 years old cocker spaniel (Pricesse Patou) who lost the use of her rear legs do to a ruptured disk like your dog. We made her a wheel chair Just like yours and she loves it!!! It was nice of you to do this!!! Thank you again... Chantal Montreal (Quebec, Canada) :) PS we whold like to know if your dog is walking now...
Thank you soooo much! I’ve got a partially paralyzed rabbit that I’m going to try and build one of these for. You’re a life-saver! Alice (the white rabbit) will have a better life! :)
Lee-Ann Davison Hope it all goes well with Alice. Teddy is now 15 years old an blind. He still likes to go in his wheelchair but only for a short time. Mostly he just sleeps.
Almost 2 weeks ago we built this wheelchair for Frank. He got to be running in that wheelchair! After that little bit of rehab Frank can now stand, walk and run. Frank is still a little shaky and sideways but seems to be improving. Thank you again! On youtube under "Franks Wheelchair' and "Franks Wheelchair 2".
Hi Teddy and Ronbob. I am Phyllis' mom. I just used your plans to make a cart for Phyllis. She is a recent rescue and had her injury a long time ago so her (front) legs were not strong enough to hold her up and therefore I had to adapt it to add a front wheel. So far she tolerates it but does not know that she is supposed to use it to move. I sat with her while she was in it for about a quarter of an hour and slowly pushed her forward ~10 feet . I will let you know how she does. Thanks!
That is excellent. I have a little 10 week old puppy, that we rescued that doesn't have use of his front legs. I'm trying to building him a front-end cart, and love your simple instructions. Would love some guidance on converting for the other end.
Hey Ron, just an update on my Coco's progress. She is adapting nicely to using the cart, and, we all, (my other two Doxies, Coco, and myself), take a nice long walk around our complex several times a day. I found it necessary to sew up an attachment to her harness so it wasn't so tight around her chest and she seems to like that a bit better. She also had a problem with the kneeling and eventually, (yesterday) just started coming forward on the back bar until she was just sitting on the ground in front of it. So, I added two more layers of the pipe insulation held in place by the ace bandage, and now her legs dangle behind the bar with her midsection, or the back of it, laying on the foam layers. This seems to work very well, as, she actually peed while on our walk and in the cart, for the first time. Her feet are ever so slightly rubbing the ground as she goes though, so, I'm thinking of taking the back section of the cart apart, and, replacing the two 1 1/2" sections of PVC holding the bottom T's and the axle with the wheels on it, to the rest of the cart, with 2" sections which would raise her 1/2" up and stop her feet from rubbing. Do you have any opinions on this?
Sandy... Sounds like you have a good handle on it. Each cart has to be modified to meet the dog's needs. It sounds like you have figured this out. Good work! And it's great that you are giving Coco back his normal life by taking walks and treating him like a DOG. Good for you... Ron
Thank you so much. My friends dog has a disc problem and is paralyzed. She just brought him home today and needs to have one built. Im going to pass this on to her
My moms dog is recently immobile due to being stepped on. She is about half the dogs size in this video. I'm going to build this tonight and tomorrow for her. Thank you for the video!
Thanks Ron. I bought all the materials, using smaller 1/2 pvc, of course. Since he's so tiny, I'm building a full cart, using skateboard wheels. I did get desk casters (the smallest they make) to devise some level of steering, in case he cannot turn the cart. I'll video the final result! Thanks again for posting this very useful and informative clip. By the way, how is Teddy doing? Has he gained more use of his legs, yet? Carla
Wow I love it , we rescued a dappled dachshund and he gas no use of his back legs either and I was trying to find a cart for him but there expensive , and a friend sent me this video and tomorrow I'm going to get all the supplies to diy this is my first time trying to make something like this.. I hope I can bc I am heartbroken to see him like that and he seems depressed, his been through a lot all's I want to do is give him back his happiness.. thank u for sharing...
Great video!! Thanks!! Now that your dog is getting some use of his hind legs back, you might try adding a little platform to the back so he can bear weight on his back legs while he's running around. It might help him to get more return to his leg muscles. Thanks again for this informative video!!
It was so nice of you to share this. My dachshund's hind legs are paralyzed and I purchased a wheelchair, but it was too heavy, bulky and he hated it and wouldn't move in it. I am going to attempt to make him one. I noticed this original post is a few years old. Have you discovered any updates or improvements to your original design? Also, I have never really built anything. Do you have a list of all materials needed to build this. I would like to get started and I want to make sure I don't forget to pick something up. Thank you! Alexandra
thank you so much I was try to make one to complicated with aluminum tubing some thing so simple i over looked using plastic pipe this will be a great help with our little one with back problems thanks again
Hi Mr. Pearson....Boyah his picture left lost the use of his legs last week. I have been trying to get him to the good comfort level with the vet and meds. BUT his legs will not work again...but he is getting stronger. Yesterday he even scratched his ear with his left leg!! Glory to God...my daughter found this for me and GOD BLESS YOU for all the info. I finished it today and Boyah can go backwards in it...giggle giggle. BUT since he is a shiatsu he is a bit taller than Teddy. Con't next
Great video and thank you so so much. Marley will be so happy to be up and moving...Got built but was not sure on how do I hold the cheast straps on? Thank you Jodie
Fantastic video. Thanks so much. We are able to get our Pug Ollie mobile again. This cart will work for anyone who doesn't have 5 or 6 hundred dollars for a pre built one and anyone can make it. Ollie thanks you
Thank you Thank you Thank you. You are an angel for my sweet baby Angus who has lost capability in his rear legs. I will post a video of him when his wheelchair is complete and cite you. Thank you so much and you are welcome to watch his videos if you're curious at all!!!
Pg #3 if you had an ideas. I can't call NO CELL or LD on my phone. But even if you don't I just can not express enough HEART FELT THANKS from Boyah and myself for what you did for your dog Teddy. I pray that after more time Boyah will get stronger and his cart will be something to look forward to and not groan when I bring it near him.GOD does work in mysterious ways...this one is meeting you and Teddy !!!!!!!! Boyah sends his love to Teddy and to you sir !! Thanks from me toooo Rene'
Thank you very much for this video, where the instructions are very comprehendable for me. We are going to try to make one for a bigger dog, so he can walk again. He is paralyzed due to old age, it would be so great to give him the ability again to be with his sons and daughters for the time he still has left.
Thanks for the video. I relief that i could start building a cheap wheelchair for my dog. The wheelchair for dog is too expensive to afford. I got a question. What measurement i need to watch out for? Can please help?
This made my night, we almost had to make the decision to put our dashound to rest. He put his back out and slipped some disc's yesterday and his back legs are parilized now. I'm going to try and build him a cart just like you did.
Hey Ron, thanks for all your tips, we just had our dog this Monday we found out that he lost the support of his back legs, our vet told us that he has a bulging disk, I just dint know how to react when the Doctor told us that chances are he may be staying this way, I will be building your model hot wheels for our buddy I least he will get around the house . Thanks
Wonderful. Bandit may recover from a ruptured disk but I'm going to build this for him anyway. He is very depressed heat he can't play with his friends.
I work for a vet clinic and a person just came in with a doxi who ruptured a disc, the person is homeless so I am going to try to help them build a cart for this lil girl. She is a PTSD dog and her poor owner was soo traumatized! Thank you for this video!
That is so very good of you to build a cart for this person. be sure to also watch this video for instructions on attaching the side straps... Ron ruclips.net/video/MZf8WC9Msf4/видео.html
Stata Powers WOW! Stata, I am SO impressed that you would do this for someone! Where I live, I get SOOOOOOO frustrated with the local vets. If anything happens to your pet around here, you had BETTER know that you can come up with the money for the vet bill, because 1) they DON'T take partial payments/installments/down payments etc. 2) If you go in with out knowing how your're going to obtain the funding, I've seen them either offer to put them to sleep (which isn't cheap either) OR (and THIS is the one that makes me SOOOOOOOOOOO ANGRY!!!) if THEY deem the situation TO serious and you don't have the money and don't have a way to get it, they will NOT let you leave with your pet. And if you try, they call animal control AND the police and turn you in for ANIMAL CRUELTY &/OR NEGLECT!!! EVEN if you tell them you want to take your pet to someone else! You're left sitting there STAMMERING going, "WHAT THE HECK?!?!?" Then, when you can finally get it out and actually verbalize it, and try to REASON with them, THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO ACTUALLY TELL YOU THAT IF YOU'RE MONEY IS SO TIGHT AND YOU'RE ON SUCH A FIXED INCOME THEN YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE A PET! IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO PROPERLY TAKE CARE OF YOUR PET THEN YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE ONE!" To SOME degree, they have a point, but I've actually gone through this with one and it's this way everywhere here. PLEASE do NOT misunderstand me! I in NO WAY begrudge the vet from making money! S/he runs a BUSINESS! They are there to make a living....BUT ..... the living that they chose was to HELP animals and their owners! Now, if they took your animal from you when it was so sick/injured, treated it AND THEN RE-HOMED IT .... that would be one thing. BUT THEY DON'T! They EUTHANIZE them! I'm sorry, but I simply cannot wrap my head around that. I understand where the problem stems from, being that unfortunately, vets have been burned so many times by people who say they will pay, and then they don't. But still, the whole approach is just wrong! ALL THAT and then just how awesome it is to have someone do something so wonderful for someone that they don't even know, is why I think you are SOOOOO FANTASTIC!!! I KNOW that you will receive back in ways that you wouldn't even be able to imagine! I wish I could nominate you for "'something' of the year!" (ie: person/vet tech, etc...) ;-) Keep up the awesome work!!!
Thank you, the poor little dog came back and had to be put down. Internal damage that hadnt been seen, we covered the euthanasia and the crematory donated cremation with a group scatter. It was cool to be a part of that though.
Thank you SO VERY Much for posting this. My 14 yo shepherd's back legs have become paralzyed and have been heart broken and confused on how to help my baby walk. We have purchased all the material and will attempt to assemble tonight. The only thing I dont understand is the harness. How do her secure within the car. AGAIN, thanks.. I know my jo-jo will be happy again..
thanks for the video tomorrow after work i will make this chair for my dachsund he justa stop moving his back legs too.. this video brings me hope thanks again...
Thank you for the video. We have a Welsh Corgi/ Lab mix who is losing good use of her hind legs. We are going to use your plans to make her a cart. Will let you know how it goes
Thank you so much for the idea I'm using it my my baby goat he lost movement in his back legs vets can't figure out why this is such a great help thanks again
Hi Ron, I got a exact same size Dacshund like yours, 15 pound. I am trying to make one for her. However, its hard to measure her. would you tell me how tall is the pvc, how long and width. Also how long is the one towards the neck. Thanks much !
Thank you, We have a 70+ pound German Shepard. What size PVC would you recommend and I did not see how you attached the front strap to the PVC... thank you again.
U helped when no one alts would...all vary one wants is money the vat won't even see him I live on a fixt income I'm disabled and it tracks it all to pay bills.. so my thanks to u I think I have this parts Armand. Others not many pipple like u laft. In this curl world may God always bias u.....!!!
Hey Ron. I made this wheelchair for my dachshund last night. The only difference I had to make was the wheel type because our Walmart didn't have any training wheels, but I did find a light weight plastic wheel (a little wider then the training wheel). The problem that I am having is that Buddy keeps moving backwards and doesn't seem to be able to go forward. I tried using different heights on the back end to see if that would fix the problem but it didn't. Do you think this is because of the wheel? Or do you have any other suggestions.
Thanks a lot for showing how to do this. I need to make one for my rabbit as his back legs are weak due to an infection. Do you think it is possible to connect the two wheels on top rather than on the bottom as you have it there with two bars?
I wanted to follow up with you, I spoke with you back in late March when our 5 yr old Oscar was effected by ivdd. The cart I made worked very well and he did like it, we put Oscar on lite dogfood and he got lots of rest over the last severial months. Oscar weighed 13 pounds when he got sick and lost 2 pounds over 4 months, he started to get feelings back in his back legs. We did some physical therepy by playing with his back legs and he started to walk again. today he has full use of his legs!
Kristin... Everything you need is shown in the video. If you can, take a screen shot then go to Lowe's or Home Depot or a store like that and match up the parts. Ron
My Dog Buster all of a sudden lost use of his hind legs last week Took him to the vet and found out he is parolized he is a male Dotson so we are building him one of these carts Ron he also has no control in his bladder thanks for the plans on these
My cat can't use her hind limbs after her injury as a kitten, so we have bought a cart for her. However, the cart has a huge frame and has four wheels, when she walks she has very little control, it seemed the whole cart was too big and heavy. I think this is much better design than four wheels, as the two wheels allow greater flexibility while the animal is moving around, it will be able to lay down or lower to sniff the ground, eat or drink when they want to. I will try to make this one soon, and try with my cat. Thanks for posting this video as I almost end up spending a great fortune to buy another wheelchair.
I have a terrier that is paralyzed in her back legs and i think i'm going to give this a try and have my husband build this for me, i'll post a video if i can get it to work so wish me luck. also how do you get the wheels to turn? if u glue them in is there something on the other side of the dowl that helps them turn i'm a noob when it comes to constructing things.
good morning! I have a couple of questions that I hope you're able to answer... Are Gracie isn't amputee with her Hind leg amputated pretty much completely wow the second hind leg is missing about two inches of her femur but she's able to use it and walk as well as run however since she is a larger dog it does put a lot of pressure on her front legs so creating this wheelchair would allow her to go for long walks without getting tired and hurting at the end of the day. how would you design the back differently to suit her needs or would it be necessary?
+Deborah Hawthorne Deborah... From what you are saying you want to get some weight off the dog's front legs. You can do this by putting more weight on the dog's hind quarters, but be careful not to get her out of balance. You can do this by insuring that her back is in the same posture as when she is standing without the use of a cart. This would be the way to build the cart, not only for your dog, but for all dogs.
+Deborah Hawthorne Here is a link to some questions I have been asked over the years. Good luck and let me know how it works out for you. ruclips.net/video/XsevmDUKfVsR/видео.htmlon
My kitten got accident, somebody hit him, thanks for this video, but i still have a hope he can go back normal again. Can you please give me advise what kind of theraphy can give to him? Already do x ray, no problem with the bone. Thanks before
Thanks Ron, i built one my dog worked awesome, what did you use to keep the wheels in place? i was thinking a small pin like a miniature one that you use on a trailer hitch
Hi Ron. Thanks for this video! Ive been looking for an easy way to make my dachshund a set of wheels. Im not very good at building or designing. This video was great at explaining everything. The only question i have is how would i measure her against the pvc? Which measurements for which pieces?? Please respond as soon as you can. Thank you!!!!
Hello Ron, I am frustrated in trying to help my 17 years old furry baby, she cannot walk anymore. She moves her four legs but don't walk, hip and shoulder dysplasia, arthritis. Can you tell me if I can use your cart to guide me and make a walking aid of four wheels. At least she can stand up and do her business or bring her outside. She spent too much time lying down. I appreciate in advance your suggestion,.
7 years later, this video is still helping dog owners out there. I do not have the money to buy a wheelchair for my dog, but you just gave my pug a way to move and run around again. I can't thank you enough for this!
10 years and still saving a bunch .🙏🙏💚👍
13 years later Stoped a little and still goes
Our Beloved Teddy passed away in October. We miss him, but know his memory lives on in the thousands of dogs whose owners were inspired to build this cart because of him. RIP little Buddy.
Thank you for sharing your advice and design, it's so hard to find help this thorough.
I’m so sorry for your loss. My 14 year old cat’s back legs have recently stopped working and im going to make this today and give it a shot, it gives me so much hope! ill let you know how it goes!
R.I.P Teddy. God Bless you Ron for helping so many people and pets with this wonderful video. I'm going to build one for my friends rabbit.

Hi Ron,
Your creation is great.

Great slide show, and great commentary.
Teddy is eff'ing adorable. Look at him go!
This is such an adorable thing you do for your little buddy. The cart alone, wow! But then when I saw you had him in a diaper and even have "pee pads" for him, it just melted my heart. I'm so happy there are people like you in this world. So caring :')
Such kind words Stephanie... and I thought the same!
Great cart, great instructions... I am sure, Sir that you made many Dogs happy when their owners made this brilliant little cart!
Thank you for your kind words. We love our animals and try to always do what's best for them...
Ron
THANK YOU!
Hi Ron
We used your model to make this for our Pug Ollie. We had to make a few adjustments but Ollie loves his Hot Wheels! Thanks so much for this. You can see Ollie on my FB page.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with other people. I only wish there where more people like you on youtube. Well done mate and god bless you.
What a great video. I have read that you can put dowels inside the PVC piping and make it much, much stonger - especially for larger dogs.
Where did you find the elastic straps. Thank you
***** Barbara... You can get the straps at Walmart or any fabric shop such as Hancock Fabric. Here is a video showing how to attach the straps... good Luck. Call if you need help.

Thanks Ron
I'm happy to know it is still helping. Good luck to you and your Pup! Ron
Good luck with your new dog. Thank you for rescuing her. We have eleven rescued dogs. They make the best pets... Ron
Thank you!!! So,so much for your dog Teddy's video...We have a 5 years old cocker spaniel (Pricesse Patou) who lost the use of her rear legs do to a ruptured disk like your dog.
We made her a wheel chair
Just like yours and she loves it!!!
It was nice of you to do this!!! Thank you again...
Chantal Montreal (Quebec, Canada) :) PS we whold like to know if your dog is walking now...
You are a good pet parent. lucky pups! thanks for the info. I am going to try it for my Boston.
Thanks!
This made me cry we need more pet owners like this one
Ron
OMG Dude!!! Thank you so much!!!! I'll watch this in detail before building Michi's chair,I just cant thank you enough,,,
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much and you are welcome to watch his videos if you're curious at all!!!

if you had an ideas.
Bless You, Kind Human Being !
Jesse brinser ... Teddy has been in his cart for nine years now. Good Luck and call if you need help... Ron
Thank you so much !!
Many, many thanks indeed 🙇♀️💐❤👍
Thank you for this video. I will be trying to make a cart for Lady Bug my 6 year old rabbit.
Your Dog is So cute im sure he will get better
Thank you so much for sharing this info! I have been pricing these and they are quite expensive, I just might give this a try!
Ron

I know my jo-jo will be happy again..
thanks for the video tomorrow after work i will make this chair for my dachsund he justa stop moving his back legs too.. this video brings me hope thanks again...
this is so sweet!
Thank you for the video. We have a Welsh Corgi/ Lab mix who is losing good use of her hind legs. We are going to use your plans to make her a cart. Will let you know how it goes
Glad to hear you are making a cart. if I can help let me know...
Ron
I'm really happy I saw this I have a cat that I need a wheelchair for and this seems like the best thank you
suspenders work great for the chest strap. my neighbor made one for my dog after he lost his leg in a car accident.
Thank you so much for the idea I'm using it my my baby goat he lost movement in his back legs vets can't figure out why this is such a great help thanks again
Mandi Hill
Did you have a donkey in there with him?
Great job! How did you attach the chest strap to the pvc? Also, is the chest strap a stretch material or just a solid strap?
Hi Ron, I got a exact same size Dacshund like yours, 15 pound.
I am trying to make one for her. However, its hard to measure her.
would you tell me how tall is the pvc, how long and width.
Also how long is the one towards the neck. Thanks much !
Thank you, We have a 70+ pound German Shepard. What size PVC would you recommend and I did not see how you attached the front strap to the PVC... thank you again.
Sheldon Hough This video should help,,, ruclips.net/video/XsevmDUKfVsR/видео.htmlon
Ron Pearson Thank you very much
U helped when no one alts would...all vary one wants is money the vat won't even see him I live on a fixt income I'm disabled and it tracks it all to pay bills.. so my thanks to u I think I have this parts Armand. Others not many pipple like u laft. In this curl world may God always bias u.....!!!
OMG, love those suspenders...great idea :)
Take a picture from the video and bring it to your hardware store. They will know what you need.
What are all the materials you used? Going shopping today and trying to figure out what all to add to my list.
Kristin... Everything you need is shown in the video. If you can, take a screen shot then go to Lowe's or Home Depot or a store like that and match up the parts. Ron
Sorry, Iselled your name wrong. Kristen!😁
Perfect! Thank you so much! Just what I was looking for.... I was wondering what you used for straps? The elastic strap looks like a suspender strap?
I have a terrier that is paralyzed in her back legs and i think i'm going to give this a try and have my husband build this for me, i'll post a video if i can get it to work so wish me luck. also how do you get the wheels to turn? if u glue them in is there something on the other side of the dowl that helps them turn i'm a noob when it comes to constructing things.
Great video. One off subject question. What brand and size diaper is Teddy wearing? I haven't found any to fit my boy. Thanks
We buy his diapers at Walmart. Size 6, you cut the hole for his tail... Ron
thanks. Walmart brand?
Great job! :-)
Also, what is the axle made of ? Where can I get one ? what should the diameter be ? Thanks !
So awesome!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THIS
You are very welcome. Good Luck
Ron
good morning!

Do you have a update for front leg wheelchair my dog has support for front (1 front leg)?
Anonymous Amy Amy, call me at 832-646-5931. Much easier to explain on the phone than through email. Ron
Hello Ron,
I am frustrated in trying to help my 17 years old furry baby, she cannot walk anymore. She moves her four legs but don't walk, hip and shoulder dysplasia, arthritis. Can you tell me if I can use your cart to guide me and make a walking aid of four wheels. At least she can stand up and do her business or bring her outside. She spent too much time lying down. I appreciate in advance your suggestion,.
thanks for posting. our rabbit just started loosing the use of her rear legs. I will make this she will woos around the garden
