Did you make a video for troubleshooting the power supply? I have 2 with NO power out, and found LOTS of videos for the radio, but NOT the POWER SUPPLY!!! Can't figure out if the RADIO is working WITHOUT it!!!
Good morning Rob. I learned a long time ago and I learned it the wrong way. There is a club called Long Island CW club. Of course it’s based in Long Island but everything is done on zoom. There are a plethora of classes every day at all hours of the day. It’s $30 a year or $90 for life and it will take you from zero to high-speed code depending on how much effort you want to put into it. Highly recommend it. Ron
i don't have a dog but had a stray cat that came around then left half a year ago came back again found him close to my porch unable to walk. he isn't sick cause he looks healthy and can drag himself around. i feel so bad and i'm going to build him this chair . i notice him in a box and shoo him out then i tilted the box when i seen he wasnt moving it was then i seen he couldnt walk. i felt so bad he just was standing there with to front legs not knowing what to do he crawled back to the box
No I don't. Parts got so hard to find and the radio themselves skyrocketed in price. I have one I kept for myself. Hope you can get some help for yours...
@@Ronbob59 i got one cheap, It was not keying up but i changed the plug on the key. It seems ok now. What type of headphones do you recommend with these?
I have a TS520S. It was drifting horrible on receive. After watching your video, I decided to pull out the VCO, gave it a spray of electrical clean and lube and bingo , she is rock solid again and working well. Thank you Ron for taking the time to share your repairs.
Just letting you, your video is still helping folks out. I was given an old Tempo One. It needs a good cleaning, but last night it powered up and I was receiving well on 40 & 20 meters. It does not seem to transmit, and I'm not sure what loading up means, but it shows no power out on the internal meter and an external swr meter when transmitting. It seems like a good project. I keep a Yaesu FT-891 on a sailboat and looking to get a FT-dx10 for home use, but I enjoy tinkering. I plan to blow out and clean the contacts with a good cleaner like DeoxiT and look at those caps you mention. I HUGE Thanks.... KN4TRT
Hey Ron! Is that the same Ron that was here in Houston awhile NARS? You still playing with the HW8’s ? I am looking for one of the small knobs and a back panel that’s unmodified! Shoot me an email from my QRZ address. Gregg W5IDX
I have 3 rescued kittens and one had an accident and he cant walk better... can you help me how to do that or how i can avail since i cant able to do..
"Sell on eBay for $150 in good working order". That was in 2009. Now they are more like $400. If you get one, get an extra set of tubes and plan to keep it in working order! These may be old, but they still get the job done in style!
We lost Teddy last year, 2018. He lived to be 15 years old. Ten of those years he spent in his cart, which we called his, “wheels”. We miss you little buddy. See you again one day on the other side... Dad
Thank you so much for this project and your explanation. The professionally made ones are over $400 ! When you said "tinker-toys", it put it into perspective for me ! Teddy looks great doing his wheelies :)
Our Beloved Teddy passed away in October. We miss him, but know his memory lives on in the thousands of dogs whose owners were inspired to build this cart because of him. RIP little Buddy.
I’m so sorry for your loss. My 14 year old cat’s back legs have recently stopped working and im going to make this today and give it a shot, it gives me so much hope! ill let you know how it goes!
Hi Ron. Thanks for this video! Ive been looking for an easy way to make my dachshund a set of wheels. Im not very good at building or designing. This video was great at explaining everything. The only question i have is how would i measure her against the pvc? Which measurements for which pieces?? Please respond as soon as you can. Thank you!!!!
Thank you soooo much! I’ve got a partially paralyzed rabbit that I’m going to try and build one of these for. You’re a life-saver! Alice (the white rabbit) will have a better life! :)
Lee-Ann Davison Hope it all goes well with Alice. Teddy is now 15 years old an blind. He still likes to go in his wheelchair but only for a short time. Mostly he just sleeps.
Great to see you flying. I Googled 'Young Eagles EAA 471' and your video on the first page. That organization should use your video on there web site. Looked like the kids had fun and so did you.
I've had six HW-8s and careful tweaking of the RF output and loading control during alignment should yield at least 2W on all bands except maybe 15m. Other causes of low RF o/p are filter toroids in the wrong place or filter toroid cores gone bad.
Those are really cool radios. I have serviced quite a few for customers myself and have one still new in the box plus dozens of other NOS and super nice tube CB radios.
I just picked up one with an unsuccessful digital readout mod. I can't find anything on the Internet on that mid. It is not a boxed device, but a 6 digit display.
Angie R I wish you the best. Let me know how it works out for you. Our Teddy is nearing 15 years old and has been in his wheelchair for 9. He is almost completely blind now, but still gets around. We change his diaper 3 or 4 times a day. It's been a long road....
Ron Pearson i'm sure teddy is still the happy dog he once was. I'm already gathering the materials so I can get started with his cart. I hope I do this right. I really want to make my dog comfortable in his condition. I hope you and teddy are always safe. :)
Got a ts 520s has same problems no transmit no receive
Many, many thanks indeed 🙇♀️💐❤👍
Hey there! I just bought your Luscombe! N71108 Please Reachout!
I have YET to find a radio online that works for UNDER $500,and even THEN it's liable to need ANOTHER $500 in parts and labor!!!

I had one decades ago. My best DX was about a block away.

@@petek1pml746 head phones have to be high impedance. They are hard to find, but turn up on Ebay occasionally.

R.I.P Teddy. God Bless you Ron for helping so many people and pets with this wonderful video. I'm going to build one for my friends rabbit.
What impresses me is NOT taking the function switch apart. What is amazing is putting it back together . AMAZING
looks like my problem, huge process, not sure I can repeat your success. Hope ebay purchase does not turn out to be a waste of money

Not to be dramatic, but I would die for Teddy.
Not even a bit dramatic
This is excellent, dog just had a stroke and has right sided paralysis, can't move his right back leg
Do you still have the bandswitch assembly?
Where did you get the black straps with clips?
Bridgetth1969 you can get the straps at any fabric store.
May I ask what their called? We have a little dog with herniated disc and we desperately need to make one of these.
