I joined the DustTrust community riiight after it got cancelled. (when the og dusttrust page was turned into a joke page) Most of the old stuff got deleted, like the discord server and such. Obviously, I can still look up the stuff that HASN'T been deleted, which yeah, I apologize for. I should post this for the sake of clarification, Underswap: Thanatos is not an official remake anymore. Underswap: Thanatos is just Ari's take on Pre-leak Dusttrust (Which means that Phase 4 still exists, Ari just simply removed it from her take) and it's name never actually changed.
Imagine just thinking of a cool at for a au, "What if we do the swap version of Dustbelief? The original Underswap disbelief is called 'Distrust.' So we can call it: DustTrust! This would just be a simple fangame though, nothing too far." And then in 2 years the AT/AU becomes so popular and toxic within it's community. I feel really bad for Sawsk. Dude really just wanted a simple fangame to be published.

There's not really a "good" reason on why the fanbase was toxic, but it was mainly because the original developers joked around with the community so much. Many of them got tired of it. Some were just toxic because the game took time to release and were impatient. Hope that clears things up.

there is a lot of promising stuff now. dillywolf is working on official dusttrust, ari is also making another dusttrust take called dusttrust X, which is basically just pre leak but way better.
Personally I can't imagine why so much work was put into all the Dusttrust takes. Like you said, the stuff that got leaked and what not look phenomenal...and yet it's spend on an AU so odd for Undertale. It would've been interesting to see what that talent all those people possessed be put into an fangame that made more sense as an Undertale AU, but for what we got to see, the Dusttrust takes were ones to behold. Maybe eventually we'll get some concrete from the concept. Stuff like Dusttale: Last Genocide managed to pull through and keep going forward, so it's really all up to how much determination (haha pun) developers have out there to take a crack at it. I think you could make a whole video out of the years of drama surrounding the au. Flamesatgames supposedly trying to claim ownership of it because he owns Disbelief, the wars between Dusttrust devs and Last Breath that largely contributed to the end of preleak, I could go on.
I can get behind ditching the Papyrus and Core Encounters. Heck, even the Old Home open world segment. But why, why get rid of Phase 4? The one thing that would make this stand out amongst all other fan games. It's literally just a generic Dusttrust game now. Im sorry if it seems like I'm venting. But it's just so frustrating that we've been waiting around 2 years for this, just to learn that absolutely nothing different is being done.

There's different reasons why, but I'm pretty sure the main one is because of the team pressuring Ari to scrap the plans about the full game, because of the huge amount of work it would take. Some others say it was mostly Ari's decision, but we probably won't ever know, because that's kept behind the scenes. Hope that clears things up.
The complete inspiration came from dustbelief(especially hoster version) and dusttale. I think that fdy was the only person who managed to make a complete game for legacy(even tho he split the phases in to 3 folders). I also remember that in a Chinese version of dustbelief you could change the fight. Where you can fight dustbelief or dusttrust. Both characters had different attacks.
They never really posted anything on the game's content, only occasionally posting concept art. They also went silent for extended periods of time, sometimes for a year or something. And then they just decided to delete the entire game page. It got cancelled, which is a shame since it looked promising.

@@randomnessradiator because it was originally the offical "preleak" the game was based of the pre-leaking of dusttrust, and it was crowned the offical preleak, the reason was because the canonical and pre-leak stories were different (so were the phases) and they needed to be separated, now underswap: thanatos is the name, this is because thanatos is the greek god of death. its also based of Undertale: Thanatos. its not called simply called dusttrust because it is no longer affiliated officially with dusttrust, therfore no need to have it in the name.

The fact that CrimsonOST didn't talked about this guy called "REALDUSTTRUSTOFFICIAL" on Gamejolt it has all the phases (except phase 4) with the phase 1,phase 2 (virus?),phase 3 and the phase 3 (small monitor or something)
As someone who's been in this hellhole of a community ever since the Sawsk era, I'm disappointed by the amount of missinformation, not to mention all the things that weren't mentioned like the ownership debate, the Demo Cezar controversies, Sawsk's copyright strikes, etc. I'd suggest to make this video private/unlisted for you to remake it with the missing information being included, most importantly the current state of the canon dusttrust, the official reboot
It's real bizarre how this edgy ass fangame became so much more than what it was built out of, seeing as the og premise is a roundabout way of having yet another "edgy sans fight who is angr and want kil you," which was getting kind of boring by the time this was even conceived. Not that I'm complaining, it's become my second favorite AU and my most anticipated fangame, mainly because of nostalgia. Something to note about the AU as a whole is how it survives from its osts, seeing as i don't think any official version of dusttrust has had an incomplete soundtrack at this point, counting it's original debut to now with Thanatos, and likely DillyWolfs as well in the future (or whatever the hell is going on there, seriously what is the official take anymore?) It makes sense that it became extra dependent on music in the games themselves that like to have the music cue up certain parts when you progress, along with being flashy as all hell.
In my opinion, scrapping full game is dissapointing but removing phase 4 from dusttrust was worst decision. Everyone was waiting for this phase and it looked pretty original. underswap thanatos - i hate this name, why underswap and not dustswap? Why thanatos? Is thanos gonna be in this game ? Ari really dissapointed me and i hope that atleast canon dusttrust will be better.
