Those 3 ducks that approached you are 'domestic' species (likely abandoned or escapes), all the other wild mallards and coots kept their distance. The two male ducks (with white bibs) that walked up to you were looking for a food hand-out. The domestic female was familiar with humans, but likely not hand-raised, so was more cautious.
