Amazing! Wish the artist was named. A real pleasure to watch - inspired me to throw fast and dry. I certainly could not have done it the first time without my splash pan but that is now the goal. I was surprised how little water I did manage to work without and how much more plastic the clay worked that way. I could do almost anything with it. Amazing!!! Also liked the site.
you make it look soooo easy! you're tooooo good! you don't even have to measure when making a lid for your pots! that how good u are! when i watch other pottery vids even the skilled pottery experts have to measure when making a lid. you're a very skilled pottery maker! keep up the good videos! great job! when u make it look that easy you really know what you're doing!
its amazing it looks like he just touches the clay an everything is formed... i seriously admire this guy for his patience ( or else he woudnt be this good) and for his love for pottery
Ok, this is incredible pottery. I scrolled down to read a couple of comments, because he was just centering right? Scrolled back up and he was cutting off his first cup. Incredible.
Very cool. That wheel looks very easy to use. There are some potters who are also using interesting new technology to further the craft. Dan Weaver is a name that comes to mind and his youTube videos are excellent. He uses lots of innovative techniques and custom-made machinery. I think a search for waterstonesink will bring it up.
Incredible precision....I just have to thumb up without any hesitation for this skillful artist. How long for me to become like him? Maybe a lifetime!!!
this isn't just pottery - it's pure magic. out of this seemingly lifeless cluster of wet mud comes, under the artist's hand, comes form, meaning, life. perfect.
It's a really good throwing clay, so it's very plastic and has a lot of water in it. He just throws the wire in probably less than half-way, and then pulls the form right off the hump. With some practice, I'm sure you get a feeling for when you can separate clay from it self, especially if it has a seam, which was made with the tool, it just seperates itself when you pull it off...like ripping paper, when it has a tear in it already.
Do you know Takehiro Ito? I know chances are small, but he worked in my studio a few years back and is a very good potter. Good video, thank you. From a fellow potter.
Really how many people watching this can appreciate it? They do tend to be pretty average that is there goal, done quickly slowly or with little water in the end its the pot that makes the pot. the process is for the potter. However i think tradition is very important i would take 1 tea bowl over a hundred crappy american mugs
I was thinking this same thing throughout the whole video! lol I get SO messy when i spin and it seems he only gets clay on his hands and arms.. thats talent.
I don't understand how he makes everything look so easy! Man Hands! I have puny little 21 year old hands, that would take me forever to center, and I was the first to center in my class, gah!...
this just proves, like anything, practice makes perfect. I do what this man does, but did it all through out high school and college. With that said, it wasn't until college I was able to use one mount and make several pieces at a time. A lot of training... his posture is amazing.
Part of their conversation P"different from the soil which I usually use…" Q "even so, the size of a lid is exact"… P"However In the case of a product, I measure it…I make it with a sense now"…
this is why i want to study in japan.. even his process is beautiful.... and did you notice he didnt get one drop on his khakis or button up... show off : )
This potter obviously has skill, and has made this form probably thousands of times. I'm still trying to learn that inward roll to make the lid ledge. But.. what he's made is a pot with a lid, and not a teapot/kyusu. There's no holes for the spout. How is the tea going to get out?
The most amazing demonstration of off-the-hump throwing I have ever seen. Man is a MASTER!

The man defines the word Master Potter. What a pleasure to watch!
Amazing demonstration of true skill. I strive to reach that comfort and ease with my craft.
Thank you for sharing this.
I love watching this guys hands create each piece...just amazing to me!!!

the way he works the clay makes it look like a kind of sensual experience.
no mess. The most talented guy i've seen yet.
Damn, when he put the lid on the pot that was awesome.
When he's patting it the clay seems so hard, but once he starts throwing it...just amazing!!
If you've never thrown clay on a wheel like that before, this guy makes it look incredibly easy. This is fantastic talent.
this is amazing. he does it so fast and makes it look so simple! its so fun to watch!

It seems so easy for him to make a tea pot but it will takes me years, maybe century to do it....he is amazing.
I had to rewind when he made that lid!!! Perfect & Precise!!
日本の職人さんはすごい!
He is one the best throwers I have ever seen!
this isn't just pottery - it's pure magic. out of this seemingly lifeless cluster of wet mud comes, under the artist's hand, comes form, meaning, life. perfect.
he slap centered it b4 and he set his wheel on high...whats amazing is how he throws his teapot, the way he made the gallery for the lid is amazing
Wow, thats what i call craftsmanship! Amazing!
Love the skill! Seriously,I just access to a kiln and I feel like learning more about pottery now!
He is a true master. Though masters still use tools, I must say, I do enjoy his work...
Well done, unbelieveable skill and makes it look so easy ! great job
I love the rhythm..so relaxing to watch!
it amazes me that he didnt even seem to have to think about making the lid of the teapot yet it was a perfect fit. god i want a wheel so bad
I love how he is just throwing out a whole tea pot in less than 4 minutes! With a dress clothes too! Truly he is a pottery genius
the clay is centered imposibly good. :)
this guy is amazing!!!! i wonder how long he's being throwing
dang! looks freakishly good!
Wow, that guy is amazing!!! I wanna learn to throw like that.
This is so impressive! I have thought of trying pottery, but I'd be afraid that my stuff would come out too thin, lopsided, or who knows what.
awh! i want to go somewhere to learn and make a pottery seems fun
I so admire skilled people.
so amazing...i've always wanted to take a pottery class.
all i can say is "slow down!" no, really, very nice skills. i'd like to see the finished fired work. is there a website to visit?
Dude! Old man has some skillz!!
this is the coolest thing ive seen

This. Is. So. Amazing. He is so skilled! He makes throwing on the wheel look so easy but it's not /:
Do you know Takehiro Ito? I know chances are small, but he worked in my studio a few years back and is a very good potter.
Good video, thank you.
From a fellow potter.
Amazing. Watch 2:44 when he makes the lid. Its fast and without any measurement and it fits perfect at 3:06. made in just 15 sec unbelievable.
woah you're so good ahhh
i try pottery but my thing always comes out lopsided cuz i can't get it centered on the dumb wheel
He makes this look so incredibly easy..
匠の業!
u keep so clean ...and u wear nice pants!!!
I just started throwing too. Have you made any pots yet?
i love how he's slapping it in the beginning ;)
real artistry!!! WOW
Nice work, Shimpo!
im literally here just shaking my head. Unbelievable.
Great video. Yet it still leaves me yearning for the vision, how does a pro make the hole to a teapot to the neck of it.
damn. He so good he dont even have to be in his "work clothez" because he dont even make a mess
Wow the lid fitted perfectly
I first though he would measure it or something but there was no need for that
Really how many people watching this can appreciate it? They do tend to be pretty average that is there goal, done quickly slowly or with little water in the end its the pot that makes the pot. the process is for the potter. However i think tradition is very important i would take 1 tea bowl over a hundred crappy american mugs

Beautiful
he did it all without a splash guard...wow
I was thinking this same thing throughout the whole video! lol I get SO messy when i spin and it seems he only gets clay on his hands and arms.. thats talent.

I don't understand how he makes everything look so easy! Man Hands! I have puny little 21 year old hands, that would take me forever to center, and I was the first to center in my class, gah!...
Did you see that he did not measure the lid ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it was truly effortless on his part ,amazing :)
i drooled watchin this
whats the last thing that he attaches to the teapot?
Great job
this just proves, like anything, practice makes perfect. I do what this man does, but did it all through out high school and college. With that said, it wasn't until college I was able to use one mount and make several pieces at a time. A lot of training... his posture is amazing.

Part of their conversation
P"different from the soil which I usually use…"

how do you know the preciese size when making the lid??? O.o
this is why i want to study in japan.. even his process is beautiful.... and did you notice he didnt get one drop on his khakis or button up... show off : )
He said at the beginning that he would do it irresponsively. He did it so effortlessly. One of the hidden masters in the back alleys in Japan.
Slick, these guys throw 100 pots per-day for a year before they're allowed to fire/keep a single one. Great discipline.
it would be an honor to be your apprentice
its a dirty work but somebody has to do it :D:D awesome video man
Wow, impressive.
That insane how good.
dude that's like some awesome alchemy shit right there
匠の技!!!!
@XxkckoolkatxX ...Ir really is relaxing. It's a great hobby and great therapy!
RHATS AMAZING WOW !

Wow crazy how he made the teapot so fast. It took me forever to make one of those and it still turned out like crap.
the real revolution happens every day through pottery
Wow just amazing
That was crazy, he didn't even measure the lid, and it fit perfectly! I guess he's been doing this a while?
@homiepj exactly same thing going on with me!! It seems so easy for him, but nearly impossible for me to do that like him.
Wat tyoe of clay is this
Does anyone else find this strangely relaxing?
