  • As part of the UCT Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (DCAP) Friday seminar series, Dr Nola Chambers presented a lecture entitled, 'Naturalistic Developmental Behavioural Interventions (NDBI) for chidlren with autism. The talk was chaired by Professor Petrus de Vries.

    At 8:40 She says "negative reinforcements or punishments" - these are two different things. Negative reinforcement happens when an unpleasant stimulus is taken away, whilst punishment is either the removal of a pleasant stimulus (negative punishment) or the application of an aversive stimulus (positive punishment). So her examples are punishment, not negative reinforcement

    All I can add is that the font used in the PPT is not correct.
    First, use a sans-serif font. The serif's are great for reading long amounts of text. Not bullet points. Sans-serif: those little tails that lead your eye across the letter to the next letter.
    Second, use a larger font.
    These fonts used don't show up well on video or on Power Points.
