    Beautiful country up there. You are very fortunate to live in a place like that. Here in NE Texas we have dirt and mud. There is the north sulpher river. It has lots of fossils but someone put it on youtube and now I don’t find much. 20 years ago I found good stuff every time I went. Mt Ida Arkansas is about 150 miles away and I go there and dig quartz crystals. I enjoy watching your videos and learning more about rocks. But seeing the country around you is what I enjoy the most. Keep on rocking. Happy Trials 👍😎👏

    Another fun trip to the mountains. It was good to see D
    Sara and the pup too. That one little mine entrance was a bit small, but it looked like it opened up inside. Still a no for me. The fairy mine was cute and someone spent some time making it. I hope they got some little fairy nuggets. I learn more each time I watch and the web site is great. Your putting in a lot of work and it shows. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒

I have noticed when I go to abandoned copper mine here in NM when I find some green or blue I start digging around the area and usually find better stuff under the dirt because or the soft nature of the material. I'm new at this and that would be an easier drive than heading all the way up to NE WA! Also when rock hounding in NE WA. people need to be aware of Rattlesnakes, Cougars(the big cat kind lol) Bears and Western Poison Ivy and the occasional Moose. I recommend good all leather boots (no mesh) Bear spray and for Poison Ivy-Tecnu or Fels Naphta for if you are exposed and Oral Ivy if you know there may be poison ivy in the area you are going. If you are on a budget you can take a good grease cutting soap like Fels Naphta, I think it is $1 on amazon and at Walmart. Not trying to scare anyone I just want everyone to be and stay safe : ) To add it is also a good idea to get a inexpensive personal air horn.

      Personally we never see wildlife, at best we see some bird buts I really think its a combination of things. Two people slowly walking, talking, making a ton of noise, and having a dog that is always howling seems to have scared away everything before we see it.
      Oh here the two big concerns as I see it would be bull moose during the rutting season and hunters during fall hunting seasons.

    Hey Jared! Is THIS the #1 location u would recommend for azurite and malachite specimens- or is there perhaps another place in WA, OR, or ID that would be better ? Azurite and Malachite, especially together, are near the top of my favorite minerals list- I've purchased very few rocks bc I prefer to find my own but I do have a beautiful lil nugget with some of that amazing malachite velvet and azurite sparkling crystals that I'm pretty sure is either from China or Indonesia. It would be fantastic to have specimens from closer to home, even tho based on your findings here and your beginning disclaimer I wouldnt expect gem quality, I'd still make the trip if this is the best spot you can recommend...So excited for this video even tho I'm sure this locale is at least 6 or 7 hrs from me! I'm on the Oregon coast, but soon as my SO finishes school in a year we are going hounding ALL OVER OR and WA!
    What a beautiful place too.
    Another great video!

    • @CurrentlyRockhounding
      @CurrentlyRockhounding  3 года назад +2

      This would say theses are mid grade samples and not worth the drive for you when you have copper mines in Oregon I guess that would also have similar minerals to be found. I think the Rogue Rockhound here on RUclips might know something about those. You can find his comment in this video section.

    • @CurrentlyRockhounding
      @CurrentlyRockhounding  3 года назад +2

      Ha! That's funny but these are just little jars that I buy in bulk on Amazon that are marketed to people that make cosmetics, but they work good for rock and mineral specimens.
      Sounds like to me that you keep your weed in cosmetic jars.

    Sarah could throw a rope over a tree limb and you could tie it around your ankles. Then all she would have to do is slowly lower you down the shaft and you could poke a stick in the water to see how deep it was.

    What are some simple ways to differentiate magnesite from white quartz?

    • @CurrentlyRockhounding
      @CurrentlyRockhounding  3 года назад

      Great question! Hardness is an easy one since its like a 4 on the mohs scale which puts its way below quartz generally. I think in this area at least you can really see the grain on this magnesite.
