      @@karenbb5063 I did the maths.
I am going to say upfront that I am a man, and have never experienced the process of supporting somebody through a pregnancy, so I apologise if I get some specific definitions or facts wrong. Documenting this has been a learning experience for me, so feel free to correct me in a reply.
As a baseline, I am assuming a 270 day pregnancy, and a 30 day post-partum period. I will put the discounted rate first, then the retail price in brackets.
18:15 - NingXia Red as a prenatal suppliment. Not helping here is that YL's serving recommendation gives you a choice between 2 and 4 ounces a day. I am going to be kind and use the lower figure of 2 ounces a day. We need 13 bottles to get 275 servings, buy YL only sell these in bundles of two, so for 14 bottles we spend $498 ($655.26). At 18:30, she recommends also drinking NingXia Red during post-partum, so let's just say that the extra 30 servings are used there. The Mayo Clinic recommends that you also use prenatal suppliments while you're trying to concieve, as that will help the baby's development in the stage before you know you're pregnant, so you will likely be drinking more NingXia Red than what I've priced out here.
      24:26 - Super B as a prenatal suppliment. 2 tablets a day, 30 servings per bottle, 9 bottles is $204.75 ($269.37).
      26:33 - Sulfurzyme Powder as a prenatal suppliment. 4g a day, 227g in a bottle, 5 bottles needed for 283 servings. The cost: $266.25 ($350.35).
27:00 - Mineral Essence as a prenatal suppliment. 5ml dose morning and night for 10ml total. Bottle is 106ml. 26 bottles needed to get a 275 day supply at $864.50 ($1137.50).
27:50 - Cool Mint CBD Oil as a sleeping aid, 'every single night for the entirety of my pregnancy. '1 full dropper' per use; I'm going to assume that's 1ml. 30ml per bottle, 9 bottles are $776.25 ($1021.41).
28:10 - Roman Chamomile, Cedarwood and Dream Catcher Essential Oils for diffusion as a sleeping aid, 'not necessarily together'. Measuring a 'drop' is difficult, but I'm going to go with 80 drops for 5ml and 250 for 15ml. For a small diffuser, 4 drops seems like a reasonable average. Roman Chamomile is 5ml, Cedarwood and Dream Catcher are 15ml. I'll assume that you cycle these around, and use all three before buying another set. So the 35ml of oils represent 580 drops, or 145 days worth. For two bottles each to get 290 days of oil, Roman Chamomile is $92.50 ($121.72), Cedarwood is $26 ($34.22), and Dream Catcher is $167 ($219.74), for a total of $285.50 ($375.68).
29:44 - Valor Roll-On, 'for emotions during pregnancy'. It's tough to judge how long a roll-on will last, but she describes herself as using it 'constantly', and it's $56.00 ($73.68) for a 10ml bottle which seems absurdly tiny; my travel-size roll-on deodorant bottle is 50ml. I'll be extremely generous and just stick with this one bottle, but be aware that's probably unrepresentative.
30:06 - Joy, for post-partum depression. The topical dose is '2-4 drops', and it's a 15ml bottle. Assuming 250 drops as above, which will last the 30 days, that's $48.25 ($63.49).
30:45 - Peace & Calming Roll-On 'during pregnancy'. She seems to hold up the essential oil bottle here, but describes it as something she applies as a roll-on, so I'll go with that. $49.25 ($64.80) for a 10ml bottle.
32:24 - ClaraDerm Cooling Mist, as a skin moisturiser and to prevent tears. She also claims that it can heal tears in about 2 weeks. $74.50 ($98.03) for a 59ml bottle, there's no information on dosage, just an 'apply topically' instruction.
35:20 - CBD Muscle Rub for pain management during labour. 50g bottles with two options for CBD dosage: $81.00 ($106.58) for 300mg, $118.75 ($156.25) for 600mg. I'll go with the lower price for the final calcuation.
      35:35 - PanAway Essential Oil for anti-inflammation during labour. $40.75 ($53.62) for a 5ml bottle.
35:57 - Peppermint Essential Oil, huffed to ease nausea during labour. $24.75 ($32.57) for a 15ml bottle.
36:19 - 'Emotional support oils' to diffuse during labour. Lavender is $27.25 ($35.86) for 15ml, Frankincense is $84.75 ($111.51) for 15ml, White Angelica is $32.50 ($42.76) for 5ml.
37:39 - YL Vitality Drops for hydration during labour, added to NingXia (which could add an extra bottle of that to the shopping list). She seems to hold up Lavender Lemon, which is $30.25 ($39.80) for three 48ml bottles.
38:13 - Progessence Plus to help with post-partum depression. $43.25 ($56.91) for a 15ml bottle. 'I actually personally use it throughout my whole pregnancy', which could mean more bottles are required.
      38:39 - EndoFlex Essential Oil, for thyroid balance. $31.75 ($41.78) for a 15ml bottle.
40:33 - Sulfurzyme Powder again mixed with NingZia Red for hair loss. That's another $53.25 ($70.07) bottle of the stuff to get the 17 extra servings you need on top of the last purchase.
40:45 - Geranium Essential Oil as a post-labuor supplement for the ClaraDerm Cooling Mist mentioned before. $47.75 ($62.83) for a 15ml bottle.
41:35 - 'Some people use ComforTone' for constapation relief. $39.25 ($51.64) for 150 capsules.
      41:56 - Thieves Laundry Soap as a baby detergent. $33.25 ($43.75) for a 947ml bottle.
      42:19 - Thieves AromaBright Toothpaste for post-partum hygiene. $12.00 ($15.79) for a 114g bottle.
The second lady adds these recommendations:
      57:52 - MultiGreens Capsules as both a pre-pregnancy and a pregnancy supplement. 6 capsules a day, 120 capsules a bottle. 14 bottles needed for 280 days, that's $647.50 ($852.04)
      1:01:15 - Progessence Plus Serum as a progesterone booster. $43.25 ($56.91) for a 15ml bottle.
The grand total, keeping in mind that I am lowballing how much some products will be used, and am unsure about the dosage of others, is...
$4,395.75 with the discount, or $5,783.99 at Young Living's retail price.

also, I need to add something here... was trying to conceive for over 4 years before I had a successful pregnancy that stuck. I did everything under the sun to prepare my body and mind for pregnancy. I followed all of my doctor's advice, I joined groups, I worked out, ate right, did all the things that I could have done to have a healthy pregnancy, and I still lost. It turned out that I had an internal issue that required surgery. I was lucky to get pregnant after recovering from this surgery. I was a walking medical question all that time. I blamed myself for not being able to hold a pregnancy. telling women that they are in the perfect time to "prime" themselves for pregnancy is just so harmful I can't even find the words. if any of you watching are reading this comment and have struggled to get pregnant or stay pregnant,.it's NOT your fault.

@@studentmidwifelife6436 I know this might not be it but I'm putting this info out in case it might help any woman have a full term pregnancy after miscarriage. But one condition that requires surgery to fix is known as cervical insufficiency or "incompetent cervix" which is the term medical practitioners might be doing away with. It is when the cervix is weak and because of that, once the baby gets to a certain point of growth it gives way/opens too soon, cause premature birth or more commonly, miscarriage. It is fixed essentially by stitching the cervix closed so the baby is able to grow to full term and then the stitch is removed before the mother gives birth. Again I know this might not be what the OP is talking about (congrats on your rainbow baby by the way. I'm so happy for you!)
However I know someone who suffered from 2nd trimester miscarriages and when she switched doctors she finally got a diagnosis and was able to have a successful pregnancy with the stitch in place. So I just wanted to share the info just in case someone who needs it stumbles across my answer in the comments.

This reminds me of what it was like before I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. So many people told me to try different diets, water filtration systems, supplements, etc. A lot of people still will ask me if I’ve tried those things. And yes, I tried absolutely everything. But what actually cured all my symptoms was medication. It was never my fault, and believing I had any responsibility for my sickness actually delayed treatment.

Ooof... the whole "if you're waiting to get pregnant, take the time to get your body ready..." thing triggers me so much. I had 5 miscarriages before I had my first successful pregnancy. I got roped into a couple of different wellness "programs" to get "healthy enough to have a baby". Before my 5th miscarriage, I did young living with my MIL who not only was a consultant for them, but owned a health food store and was determined to help me get, and keep, a pregnancy. It didn't work. After that 5th one, I was so very heartbroken that I just gave up entirely. I stopped the diets and the supplements and just everything. I just couldn't take the losses anymore. So many of those "if you just did xyz, you'll have the baby you want!" Yeah... no.
1 year later and I didn't even realize I was pregnant again until I was in my second trimester. I took the prenatal vitamins, but nothing else. I refused any and all "help" and had to deal with the "but if you don't then something bad might happen...." again nope. At 42 weeks I gave birth to a very healthy 6lb 13in baby who turns 13 in just a few days. The best thing I did for me, for my baby, and for my mental health was listened to my doctors and my body and ignored everyone else.

Even fear of toxoplasmosis from your cat is overblown. The CDC says you're much more likely to get T from undercooked meat or from gardening, and if your cat is indoor-only, the risk is even lower. Sure, get your partner to clean the cat box because they LIVE THERE and it's their cat, too.

    • @tiryaclearsong421
      @tiryaclearsong421 Год назад

Fear of overheating is also overblown. There are tons of studies out of places in the tropics, pregnant athletes, and places where sauna like bathing is common that show there is no difference in CNS birth defects between women who get hot during any stage of pregnancy and women who don't. There are even studies that show pregnant woman thermally regulate better than non pregnant women (even if they feel hot). The only risk appears to be dehydration and possibly fainting if the woman lets herself get too hot without adequate hydration. It still isn't smart to do anything heat wise that isn't smart when you aren't pregnant. Getting heat stroke is bad, dehydration is bad, and fainting is bad (with falls being more dangerous during pregnancy). So I think a common sense recommendation would be to apply common sense. Don't be terrified of hot weather, hot baths, aerobic exercise, etc. as long as you hydrate more while doing so and as long as you pay attention to how you feel and stay away from things you react badly to.
Exercise advice during pregnancy can also be insane and even harmful. Studies show pregnancy is healthier when the woman exercises and yet OBs will occasionally treat their patients like glass instead of applying any common sense. Fortunately that one is becoming less common because avoiding hot saunas is not the end of the world but being terrified of exercise might actually be harmful.

I highly doubt the Ningxia Red is what magically made her more energized on the second one. Like you, my first pregnancy (a little girl) started with physical fatigue so bad I was taking 15-minute naps under my cubicle desk during lunch breaks. I never had nausea. Then, with my second pregnancy (also a little girl), there was no fatigue, but I did have a constant uneasy, nauseous feeling for the first 16 weeks. I was not doing anything vastly different in my routine and gender was the same - so it's not likely there was any specific cause for them being different. It just happens that way.

This call made my blood boil and I'm done having kids! The ONLY thing I can agree with is that pitocin is really the devil. It is necessary (was with my first delivery) at times but HOLY COW I thought I was dying.
Congrats on your baby girl!! And yes, Dermaplast is heavenly. A cool blast of heaven for a really tired and slightly broken mimsy.

Not even getting in to what she's saying, just the whole idea that this gal feels totally fine about getting on a zoom call and giving advice to other women about pregnancies, when she has nowhere near anything close to a medical license, is absolutely horrifying.
I've had 3 babies, and I would NEVER tell ANY other woman what they should and shouldn't do. I wouldn't want to be responsible for, heaven forbid, negative effects or outcomes.
How is this not a massive liability, not only for Young Living - but for HER personally?? Couldn't Young Living sue her if something goes wrong based on her being a representative of their company, and implying that this advice is coming from and supported by the company??
    Big. Yikes.

Anyone who is pregnant id recommend being tested for toxoplasmosis. If you've have cats that go outside chances are you've already been exposed to toxoplasmosis and are fine to clean cat box. If you test negative you can have your cats tested and if they test negative then as long as your cats stay inside you should be fine to clean the cat box

Kind of random thing to throw in here, but in relation to what one of the ladies in the zoom said about unmedicated birth- my Pitocin contractions were not any more painful than my unmedicated birth contractions. In fact, my unmedicated birth was my most painful birth, I’ll never forget it, lol. Every birth is just different.

I did perineal massage religiously when I was pregnant with my daughter because I was so terrified of tearing. guess what? I still had a third degree tear. this whole call is just so incredibly dangerous for women that are pregnant or want to become pregnant. the fact that any of these women are saying that you can have an easy pregnancy if you want to is just ridiculous. Having a birth plan in my opinion is dumb. It's perfectly fine to have birth goals, but having a plan is laughable LOL. and Yesssssss dermaplast spray extra strength as well as some tucks pads go a long way. my hospital even gave me all of that stuff to take home with me!

As said, 'Consider the source, remember the motive'. I started learning to understand ingredients in everything from food to my detergent due to health issues and digestive/skin sensitivities. I now educate others on how to read a label, how to rate the harms of ingredients, and help people make an informed decision. The difference for me is that I am not selling anything! I just want people to feel safe, not feel what I feel, and maybe even choose household items that also don't further harm the environment. And of course, I can always provide studies on anything I recommend against; I don't just tell people it's bad because I say so.

Thank you for clarifying the pregnancy loss section. The claims they were making throughout the video were disgusting, however, I have been through multiple pregnancy losses. It is vile to me that she is spreading false claims and false hope to people who are struggling to remain pregnant. It is hard enough without people making it sound like their magic product will solve such a complex issue. Thank you for calling these people out for this.
