    That was hilarious - it IS chickens (well cockerels/roosters/cocks, not hens) that make that sound. Australian magpies are just incredible mimics.
    And yes, I just couldn't resist a legitimate use of the word "cock".

Kangaroo needs to be cooked like venison or it becomes tough and is gamy like venison, cannot comment on Emu as I have never tried it. I say this all the time, Huntsman spiders are beautiful gentle and timid spiders here. We grew up,with one in our room as kids named Herman, I used to let him run up and down my arm. Never was bitten ever. Our family NEVER kills them, I catch them and pop them outside. When you are so used to these gentle spiders, you are not afraid of them. A tarantula would freak me out but not a lovely Huntsman. Love them!! Ps I did catch one at night and flicked him outside into the dark and 10 mins later felt something crawling on the back of my neck. I had flicked him backwards, and I did jump when I felt the legs but I caught him again and was more careful when putting him outside. My then teenage son wouldn’t come and help me, instead was laughing hysterically at the spider on the back of my neck.😊

  • @doubledee9675
    @doubledee9675 9 месяцев назад +1

    "Tarantula" is the name commonly given to Huntsman spiders here. They are ugly, look dangerous but while their bite is unpleasant (allegedly, never been bitten) it's unlikely to kill anyone. There are 2 spiders whose bite can be fatal. The first is the Sydney funnelweb, large and as ugly as sin. It lives in our part of Sydney, liking the leaf mould from the eucalypts which grow here. You never, ever, garden without stout leather gloves, nor gather wood for a bbq either. They can swim, and from time to time, we'll find one in the pool itself, in the filter or in the cleaner. There is now an antivenene. We'll catch one a couple of times a year - not hard but you have to know what you're doing. We take the spider to the casualty section of a nearby hospital. It will be collected from there, and taken to a works to be milked for its venom. That then gets turned into the antivenene. The other is much smaller and from the red stripe on its back is called a redback. While its bite can be fatal, it's unlikely to kill a healthy adult. Children, elderly people or those who are unwell are much more at risk. Again, there is an antivenene available through public hospitals.

It’s mainly south and west of the Blue Mountains in the Great Dividing Range in NSW and Victoria, in parts of Tasmania and occasionally in the Stirling Range in southern WA. A Joey will climb into a bag if the zookeeper holds it open.
    That spider on her face is a harmless Huntsman spider. They don’t build webs, they live between the layers of bark in a tree, under rocks in the garden, and go hunting at night for bugs like cockroaches and other spiders. They can make themselves very flat so they can easily get into your house by sliding into a crevice, but once inside, they will help rid your home of creepy crawlies. I have one living with me at the moment.

It has it's very own quite unique subtle flavour...I often get the mince for a kangaroo bolognaise which guarantees very low fat rather than the stuff they use for beef mince... The bird which stole the snag was almost certainly a Kookaburra and they are nit at all shy when food is involved! That parrot which amazed you with its' colours was a female king parrot and the male is much brighter... Cheers!

Melbourne doesn't often get an elongated heatwave unlike some other parts of Australia. The temperature tends to build to a maximum then there is a cool change and the process begins again,

I said, ok what temps are we looking at, he said between 20-24C, i literally laughed thinking he was joking & he was deadset. My wife does not particularly like the non-venomous huntersman spiders only for one reason, because her brother would pick them up and roll them up in his hands and throw them at her when she was growing up. While visiting her parents one afternoon about fifteen plus years ago he did it right in front of me so quickly I didn’t have time to react and my wife was on the receiving end, and boy did she lay into him immediately after she deflected it, he was in his late thirties and still acting like a teenager. There are the most commonly filmed spider in Australia as everyone knows what there are and I don’t dislike them other than there are extremely fast moving so much that people think they jump.
    Example I notice one on my wrist of a flannelette shirt that I had on, and I had to look twice as four of the legs on one side of his body were not there, by the time my brain computated this and considered he wouldn’t move that fast he was at my neck, needless to say the shirts was ripped off and on the ground. The largest spider I’ve come close to in the wood pile next to my shed is a SE Queensland tarantula it’s abdomen is the size the hunters man legspan an two to three times the size of the James Bond size tarantula in the London Zoo I visited a year later, where I instructed the exhibitor of some thirty years how to treat spider bites as he didn’t know basic Australian scouting first aid. P.S. this spider is also known as the Bird eating spider as that apparently that’s what it was eating the first time someone sighted one in Oz! NSW in Oz

    I love roo meat, it's very lean almost no fat, but for me it has to be rare. Cook it a bit too long, it's gets tough!

    Once you have roo meat cooked properly you won't eat anything else. It's the only red meat I've eaten for years.

    So when are you coming? Tell all us Aussie mates. We can all meet in a park at a free BBQ in Melbourne and Sydney. I’m telling you now you won’t want to go back. Can I suggest April, great weather that time of year.

    We are heading towards summer, December/February. I've said this before on your videos and others to be careful not to believe all the things you see as the norm. Only certain places you will see that many spiders and most of them are small. Never eaten kangaroo meat. Most Australians have never seen a snake in the wild. Once the suburbs meet the bushland, you still might not see a snake because they slither away when they hear you coming.
    Crocodiles are only found across the top of Australia. Nowhere near our beautiful cities. In the major cities you're unlikely to find kangaroos in the suburbs until they verge with the bush. There are exceptions such as golf courses etc.
    "HORSES" have caused more Australian deaths than any other creature. 77 people died from horse accidents between 2008 and 2017, mainly on rural properties, next was cows, not spiders and snakes etc.
    Naturally the people who make these wild videos about Australia are trying to shock you. They find all the extreme stuff which does not represent Australia in general. I'm an older guy who has never been bitten by anything and we have our share of elderly people like anywhere else, so how did they get to be "elderly," if Australia is so dangerous?
    Cheers. 🇦🇺🦘
