This way of living is helping me get over several eating disorders/ chronic dieting and its so yummy. So grateful I could find something healthy but also indulging at times.
They say Mediterranean diet increases life expectancy, don't you think that lifestyle living on an island away from big city stress affecting hornones, physically, mentally is a part of living longer too?
absolutely, Mediterranean diet is a way of life not just recipes. BUT the food itself is like 70-80% of the whole thing :-)
Sure it does, but eating good food is in your hands and not the hustle and bustle of the city
Which is why you have to take care of yourself. I recommend HeartMath as a perfect marriage to the Med Diet.
It's all of that. That's why a lot of people prefer to call it the Mediterranean lifestyle. They eat much much healthier but there are other factors like a much less stressful and slower way of life, socialization, communal living, exercise, etc.
I’ve been ill and lost a lot of weight and so somebody recommended I try the Mediterranean diet to increase weight and get healthy! Will check out the book, I’m sure I will enjoy the recipes!
I watched a lot of your videos. They are so helpful! Thank you for taking time to share this info.
I have been doing keto for 4 months now but it is not sustainable. I am considering switching to the Mediterranean diet. Enjoy your videos. Thanks!
Judy Hagens me too!
Judy Hagens me too, lol
keto is only ok for short term weight loss, it is NOT a "lifestyle" diet ie something to be done forever like the mediterranean diet is
@@baphometic8767 don't tell people that!! There are 100's of us who have made keto a lifestyle! And are healthier for it!! I belong to a keto group with thousands of members and almost all of us have been doing strict keto for 2-15 years!
@@critter4004 I'm sorry but the science disagrees with keto being a sustainable, long-term healthy diet. The longest clinic trial done on different diets showed increased morbidity rates for people on keto diets (and people on high-carb diets, as well). In what should come as a shock to nobody, the group with the lowest morbidity rate was people who had a balanced diet.
Do you demonstrate any more recipes. I enjoy watching them.
Thank you for all the info! Heard about this way of eating for year and am now taking my first shot at it
Enjoyed this video and shared it with my son. I will be cooking some of these dishes. Thanks!
I bought this recipe book today. I’m so excited for it to arrive!
So where's the soup recipe. I would like to have made it tonight. I will get the book. I am Italian and grew up basically eating Mediterranean... thanks I am checking out all your videos and subscribed.
I really want to try this diet...sounds and looks delicious!
My doctor put me on a Mediterranean diet due to high sugar & chlorestrol problems. I am a little lost, knowing nothing about this diet, but would love to learn more. Please tell me about your programs/ training sessions & how much they cost. Thank you so much for the wonderful & complete content!
I feel like I am in a similar place as you with the Mediterranean diet. I have used the website the Mediterranean dish. It has SO many recipes. You can filter by the Mediterranean diet in the recipes section. Good luck!
Thank you so much for the info on sour dough bread.
You are so welcome!
Love this
That soup sounds good.
Ordering your book. Looks delicious!
Enjoy!
As a newcomer to your websites I’m hooked! But I’m curious what’s the name of this soup? I have to laugh I’ve used just olive oil over the years and I use a lot of it. My grown children and their spouses always make comments about how much olive oil I use. Little did they know! Lol I’m gonna hook them up to your website! Thank you.
Wonderful ideas and presentation, but, unforunately, tell cookbook is out of stock !
I like to order the book, but can’t find the link.
Is that sourdough bread recipe in the cookbook?
I live in New Zealand and I would love to have this cookbook. Please can you advise how I could purchase it. Many thanks 😊
Unfortunately, the cost to send to New Zealand is more than the cost of the book itself. My suggestion would be to get our ebook: www.mediterraneanliving.com/product/foods-of-crete-e-book/
@@Mediterraneanliving lol I'm in Australia. We're very used to having to pay same or more in shipping as the product 😂
Thanks for these videos. I am looking in to this form of diet. I do not drink alcohol at all. Do you think that would effect me negatively with this diet?
No, they say it's for socializing over a meal. I believe a sparkling water would be just as effective.
Bill also has another video that says you can drink organic grape juice instead of red wine and get alot of the same health benefits from it! That's what I drink when I don't want water!
Do you have these 2 recipes shown in this video posted anywhere?
Here are the links to the recipes in this video: www.mediterraneanliving.com/authentic-greek-salad-horiatiki-salata/

Can you share the recipe for the soup? Please
I have been reading another book about the Mediterranean diet and it said to eat seasonally but also include lots of fruits and veggies. I'm confused. What if your region does not have lots of fruits and veggies growing all year round? My state really only grows berries peaches and plums and only during the summer months. Is there a huge focus on eating seasonally or not quite? Thanks!
anna maria if you don’t have local fruits, just get whatever your supermarket has. Go frozen if you need to (better than canned and they keep longer once opened).
I'd buy your book if it was available as an e-book.
We just released it as a Kindle E-book. Link here: www.amazon.com/Mediterranean-Diet-Crete-Traditional-Healthiest-ebook/dp/B07MKPCSZJ/ref=sr_1_35?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1548435616&sr=1-35&keywords=mediterranean+diet
@@Mediterraneanliving thank you lovely man. My family is Italian and they have been preaching olive oil, herbs and wine since I was young. Looking into it now for anxiety.
@@Mediterraneanliving Just ordered it!
Do you ship this to Germany? I tried the site, but it seems only for the states
We don't ship to other countries because it costs more to send than the purchase price of the book. You can purchase our e-book of the same book here: www.mediterraneanliving.com/product/foods-of-crete-e-book/
I am concern with using all of that olive oil. It is a fat so what do you do about the weight gain from eating so much fat?
Olive oil is a good fat vice a bad fat like butter/margarine.
Can someone with no gallbladder eat this way? Will the olive oil cause any irritation?
This Prudent Gal you most likely need a digestive enzyme supplement like ox bile to help you break down fats. “Now” brand Super Enzyme is a good choice.
@@MsTinyninja thank you for that info!! Much appreciated 😀
My husband has no gall bladder. Olive oil is a plant oil. He has no issues, maybe because it is a plant oil. He has issues with fatty meats.
I've had gall bladder issues for years, olive oil is fine! I did have to switch from a bile enzyme to one without it, but enzymes definitely help!
Why is the book so expensive $382 on Amazon????? Is that American dollars????
😊
Do you still have book?
It will be back in stock in a week.
How do you compensate for the "bean" effect, if you know what I mean?
Can anybody tell me why lettuce is not included in the salad?
The authentic Greek salad just doesn't have lettuce. Its not that they don't eat lettuce at all.
@@Mediterraneanliving Thanks for that.
Which olive oil is good
You want a good extra virgin olive oil with the peppery burn. Unfortunately, they can be a little hard to find. I import my own, but when I run out I sometimes use the following: Kirkland brand Extra Virgin (Costco), Trader Joe's Greek Olive Oil or Whole Foods Organic Extra Virgin. Hope that helps!
Wow a whole cup of olive oil, that sounds so wrong? I need to change my mind set.
Sadly, the book is out of stock😭
I clicked the link here and just bought it with the coupon code they offered!
The Amazon price is £131
Nathan S we will be offering an ebook version in the next few weeks
Hi Nathan, Our book was just released as an e-book: www.amazon.com/Mediterranean-Diet-Crete-Traditional-Healthiest-ebook/dp/B07MKPCSZJ/ref=sr_1_35?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1548435616&sr=1-35&keywords=mediterranean+diet
The Mediterranean diet that heart doctors push for their heart patience with heart problems has them eating a lot of fish and pasta and very little red meat. Is this that diet?
If doctors are pushing their heart diseased patients to eat pasta- that’s a red sign that the Dr is looking for a permanent patient.
Seems like a fattening diet. I think Greece has a high obesity rate.
C L smh 🤦🏻♀️ good fats...unfortunately Europe has USA influences too so theirs that issue. We need high fats it’s processed sugar that turns into bad fat
The western countries where people live longest are the ones where they eat this way (Italy, Greece, Spain)..
They have a high obesity rate now, but now they eat less olive oil and much more processed foods and sugar. When they had low obesity rates they were eating 40% of their calories from fat. Fat is not the enemy, processed foods and sugar is the problem.
Kyon My grandparents from both sides are from Spain. They’re 99, 98 all in the 90s and clear minds
Bill, I don't want to sound rude, but I wonder why is your skin looking so unhealthy if you're eating such healthy foods? People promoting healthy lifestyles attract others because diet they follow extremely improved their health. Surely, diet is not everything but when I look at people in keto/carnivore community I see healthy individuals with radiant skin regardless of age.
Sometime skin issues are environmental. Things in the air or maybe he's having an allergic reaction to something he's eaten. It's not always tied to diet but also genetic.
You are talking nonsense🙄
Keto seriously affected my health on the inside. I had a recent kidney stone and low end of high cholesterol. Keto is not heart or kidney friendly no matter what all these “experts” on RUclips tell you. I lost weight on Keto, but it’s not worth my health in the long run. My doctors and nutritionist consider Keto a “fad” diet that is not sustainable for most people long term.
Lighting makes a big difference plus the color clothing affects skin tones on camera.
