Without a doubt this has to be one of the very best games to have ever existed. This game is my childhood. Many fond memories of playing it, especially sunset vista and cortex power. Those were my favourites for some reason
This level is a walk in the park if you're in a good mood, you take your time, and memorize the patterns of the "traps." It only took me 3 attempts to get the gem on this level because I did that^
I was so close to getting the Gem, but had completely forgotten about that frickin' lizard at the end of the level and fell to my doom right before the goal. What a hilariously sou-lcrushing way to lose a run... On the bright side, it certainly felt satisfying getting through the stage and grabbing the Gem without taking a single hit.
this was my favorite level in the entire game, I remember beating it to couple of my friends too did not never understand what was so hard about this. In my opinion Slippery Climb and Road to Nowhere, and the other bridge level that I can't remember right now, were harder
Understand that most of us were young kids doing this level, took a lot of concentration. Now when I'm more immune Crash games passing this level becomes easier than when i was 5-7
Arrgh I remember this damn level. I died countless times here (got a game over once, and almost got one the second time!) The part at 2:12 is where I died the most. All in all it took me over a month of sustained gameplay to finish complete this level 100% box count! So many harsh obstacles here! Definitely a contender for one of the hardest levels in the entire Crash Bandicoot series!
I don't think this is the hardest level to get through, but the sheer length is a problem because there are so many easy mistakes to make that can cost you your life. The result is that a gem run on something like this, or slippery climb, is really tense.
I love and hate this level simultaneously. The setting of the ruins and the music are totally awesome and well-designed (and arguably my favorite in this entire game), but if you're trying to get the Gem, well..."ugh!" is an understatement. How tall do you think this entire building or set of buildings (from the first floor to the exit warp pad) is? Any guesses?
Even i being a tryhard. I Still have issues on Sunset Vista. To get the gem out of this level i have used save state. Other levels i had to use save states include Slippery Climb and Stormy Ascent, and before you ask: i have used gameshark code to acess Stormy Ascent.
Ur good at this game :) I'm 98% complete right now with 25/26 gems and just sunset vista to go. For some reason i died 3 times now at 3:57 and it's really pissing me off :P
N. Sane Trilogy did not make to catch the amazing natural and indigenous atmosphere this game had. (Many extremely important music and level details were left out...)
Very very nice... but you did have some luck at 2:13 :) I hate when that happens... a perfect run getting screwed up for something silly. Nice going mate!
I remember that when I was 4 or 5 and I went to my friend's house. She has a older brithes who was 12 years old and he had Playstation. We played it so much and it turns eho can make the furthest. This game is my best childhood memory I can remember well. I even remember some parts of the soundtrack. Im gonna search the soundtrack now :D
I have a love/hate relationship with this level. Love the music and the level itself but some parts are insanely hard. Also does anyone know what those symbol things after the howl in the music are?
TV Tropes stated that Sunset Vista was going to be even harder in the prototype version. Thank god that didn't happen cos it's claimed by many fans to be one of the hardest levels to get the gem on.
Haha, I managed to beat every Crash game on Playstation 1, and thats including Crash Team Racing, and Crash Bash. The gameplay in these games are genius!
paused, took a break and watched this vid and got 100% when i went back to it. Then realised i need to complete the cortex bonus round to get the key. This is going to be a pain in the ass.
I can get through the level normally. It's getting the gem which is the hard bit. I normally wouldn't mind smashing all the crates but I hate how in this game you have to do it without dying. I haven't even played the N.Sane Trilogy yet so I dread to think what the time trials are like for the first two games.
This level is more than 5 min long and you did it without dying it's a long lvl indeed. at 4:20 i got it at my first attempt as well, it's not hard just gotta look at the patterns easy to follow
I agree with garland, i dont think this level is difficult... I think it's terribly long. But a long stage means it's a patience test. Just do it in the right time and no problem.
The Windows Vista’s Level. Windows 98 completes the level Windows 2000 fails at 5:100:12, windows 11 fails here, windows 10 at 0:55, windows 7/8/8.1 at 2:12, windows vista and xp completes the level
I'm actually really good at Road To Nowhere. Never attempted Sunset Vista more than once, or twice, never got all the way through, but I wanna try it really bad. I'm not so good at The High Road, which I believe is the name of the other bridge level. And I can only make it about half-way through Slippery Climb before I get frustrated. Not from dying, just from intensity, and difficulty.
@theKrishnaCpatel Don't give up on this classic, yeah, it's hard, hardest in the series, but any gamer knows that the satisfaction of beating a hard game is an amazing feeling.
This is like the most impossible level in the game! Even with the guide it's still impossible for me, but the Cortex bonus round isn't for me. This is an insane nightmare level, lmao. Update (June 23, 2022): I finally perfected this level with the bonus level after how many days 🙂.
Im just thankful its downloadable from the playstation network for £3.49.... X3 so many memories of my childhood..... Crash was a lot better than Mario back in the day
sameer cool I order the Remake! I'm such a online thug. I order games in the World of www and watch RUclips like every real thug do! Also playing a lot of Crash Bandicoot. Show a little bit respect
@GmanChief Think again. I beat nearly the entire game when I was only 5 years old. I remember beating this level in a few tries. Now that I think of it, I find it crazy that I beat a level this hard only 5 years after being in my mom's stomach.
GarlandTheGreat maybe they ill add 2 game modes 1 with checkpoint box recording and the other will be the hard mode whwn you had to beat the entire level without losing a life for an extra achievement
there's a large discussion about the harder level so i will give my opinion casual gameplay (no gem): fumbling in the dark 100% gameplay (with gem): this level
One time I beat this level without dying and I was like "YES!!!!!!! HA! I DID IT!! HA HAAAAAA!" - GREAT... but you missed one box. [thirty second pause] FUUUUCK!
This is quite a hard level. I'm an avid crasher, and I'd say that trying to get the gem here whilst inexperienced is impossible, not quite as hard as fumbling in the dark, though.
I really really really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY hate this level
NakaNo!! Why?
@@paolotondo2463, Highter dificulty
Is dificul really?play in the prototype or the stormy acento is mucho dificuĺt trata Sunset vista
Play the prototype and you are going to hate it even more
F this level.
this level was made in hell
If sunset vista was made in hell what was high road and stormy ascent made in?
Is little buy stormy acento is the horse hell compararon is IT level
High Road and Slipperly Climb is waaaaay worse.
Without a doubt this has to be one of the very best games to have ever existed. This game is my childhood. Many fond memories of playing it, especially sunset vista and cortex power. Those were my favourites for some reason
Rose tinted glasses in a nutshell

Sunset Vista: so windows vista how are you doing?
Windows Vista: I WAS FROZEN TODAY!
XD
Once upon a time I forgot this box at 4:35
"Great but you missed 1 box"
Holy shit
the music and level design in crash 1+2 is just plain awesome!
What about crash 3?
Omg i remeber as i played this with 5 or 6 years. I couldn't pass this level, then my Father done it for me xD
2:11 You, sir, are a complete badass for not dying there.

"There might be people... who would hate you... just for being so good..."
Bomer, Final Zone II
this level was so hard but i actually loved it cause that ancient feeling and the music was fitting too
You playing this level makes me want to play that game again and finish this level. Thanks.
1000% props man, this level gotta be the hardest of all time
The first time I played this level, it was hella hard! Later, I began to get it, and actually enjoyed it a lot!
I still hate this one and cortex power. Lol sometimes slippery climb.
Not looking forward to getting the platinum relic on this in the N Sane trilogy
Can't wait to sweat like old times!
Doogle At least there is a f*cking save system
Uh, dude. That's random of you to say that.
But if you want to get a platinum trophy you should at least get gold on each level
This level is a walk in the park if you're in a good mood, you take your time, and memorize the patterns of the "traps."
It only took me 3 attempts to get the gem on this level because I did that^

Absolutely incredible run. But you already know that.
a lot of hard levels tend to have lives at the end of the level
Wow, boxes are spread so thin in this level. Time Trials are going to suck when the remake comes out unless they add boxes.
Still my favorite game since i was 4 years old. Never gets old
I was so close to getting the Gem, but had completely forgotten about that frickin' lizard at the end of the level and fell to my doom right before the goal. What a hilariously sou-lcrushing way to lose a run...

They made this level TONS more enjoyable in the N. Sane Trilogy.
OMG the parts where you had to jump on the moving walls and platforms kept me stuck at this level for a while.
I don't think this is the hardest level to get through, but the sheer length is a problem because there are so many easy mistakes to make that can cost you your life. The result is that a gem run on something like this, or slippery climb, is really tense.

Totally agreed! These graphics are killer. With a lot of my other playstation games they look really old.
Do you get gems for just breaking boxes or something else?
Very very nice... but you did have some luck at 2:13 :)
I hate when that happens... a perfect run getting screwed up for something silly.

amazing maneuver at 2:12 there
urgh that jump at 4:20 gets me every time. Apart from that i have no problem with the level.

I couldn't react so fast in all those situations. respect!
They made the level a bit more forgiving in the n.sane Trilogy since you can keep all the boxes you break even after you die
After struggling with Slippery Climb, this level seems pretty easy now.
I have a love/hate relationship with this level. Love the music and the level itself but some parts are insanely hard. Also does anyone know what those symbol things after the howl in the music are?
This level seemed to take forever to complete
I have heard of a hotel named "Sunset Vista... the best place to watch sunset"
TV Tropes stated that Sunset Vista was going to be even harder in the prototype version. Thank god that didn't happen cos it's claimed by many fans to be one of the hardest levels to get the gem on.
I like this level! Btw how do you film this when it's on PS2?
Such a frustrating level to play as a kid...still a frustrating level now at age 17, nevertheless a great level.

The bats were simply the most annoying thing in the game.
I remember playing a rental of this, and it always froze up on this level. I got so frustrated.
the red thing at end.. i didnt know you can bounce it. i traveled under in lost city
This level isn't too bad to be shitty, but those platforms were the reason I couldn't stand it. Took forever to get used to it.
the spinning platforms only.
This is quite a hard level. I'm an avid crasher, and I'd say that trying to get the gem here whilst inexperienced is impossible, not quite as hard as fumbling in the dark, though.
Oh hey, its this level. Full of fun.
Would be more impressed if he didn't die in most levels, the lives are clearly changing everytime :S
this video makes me wanna play crash too
I remember several times when I was a kid, fucking up on that last red lizard and either dying or falling off after a perfect run. Ffffffffuuuuuu-
1:42 I hated that part, since you needed to jump at the right time or into the flame basket that lies in the middle.
I think high road is a lot harder than this level. Espeically when getting the gem.10/10.
