My favourite Elvis song. Then found it was written by this incredible guy! so I'm not surprised...Eddie Rabbitt was one of the best songwriters and I'm a huge fan
This man could write songs so well , even Elvis Presley knew it , he sang this song first cause Eddie needed the money , but he showed up at one of Eddie's live concerts , back stage looking out him , he said man that's a great song to Eddie as he sang it , Eddie heard him , can you imagine the pride you would have if Elvis the KING complimented you on a song
Eddie actually wrote this song " for " Elvis Presley" in 1970, . A sad day for country music when he passed , a beautiful man with a beautiful voice and loved by all . RIP love .

The demo wad iverheard by someone shompassed it down the line to Elvis..I have heard Eddy tell that story in an interview but the net now sees fit to spin the tale of being written For Elvis
@@JeddorianJalapeno I heard him say that he wrote it, knew it would be a winner, thot if he recorded it himself, he'd sell fewer than 70,000 records, but if he sold it to Elvis, it would sell millions. He needed the $, so let EP buy, record it. And the rest is history.

Ahhhhh, yes, that cold Kentucky Rain will get U every time!!! Love this song! Miss U, Eddie Rabbit. One of my favs of all time. Gone way too soon!! I memorized all of your songs. Seems like it was just yesterday.
Elvis did sing it as it should have been sung. And I can just see the guy walking in that cold KY rain, looking for his woman who wanted, needed more than her man could give her.
I like this version a lot. I think each artist puts his own spin on a song. Being the songwriter, Eddie knew exactly what each nuance was in the song and I like his rendition a lot. Still love Elvis' version for it's own merit. Each has some awesomeness. I like the music being less IN YOUR FACE on this one.
Eddie wrote this amazing song . Elvis took it and did what Elvis could do make it a classic timeless. How can you do it better than the King??? But if Elvis did not cut the record maybe still wod have been a hit for Eddie. Really don't matter anyhow. Cause they we're both great . Elvis the king and Mr Rabbitt . Poor Eddie sounds like he was a nice man who sure went thru more than his share of suffering. Rip

That's your opinion! Elvis's version is as good IMO, he sings it with just as much emotion and feeling and I personally prefer his voice. Both are great though and Eddie's a great songwriter.

Eddie was a very talented storyteller and writer. I think he sounded very good singing Kentucky Rain. I think it's a matter of personal preference in determining whether Elvis or Eddie sang the song the best. Although, I do think Elvis sounded the best, because of his dynamic voice and three octave range. Also, the music was taken up a notch in Elvis' recording of the song which was fantastic.

@@Regal2000 id say both are good but are very different at the same time. A badass song no matter who sings it. Do like those piano notes that lead into the elvis version though. I think ronnie Milsap played piano in the studio version.
