Very nice compare-contrast educational video. Many thanks for your time, trouble, and expertise. Love your playing as well. And since you asked, I'm a collector who owns many Gretsch guitars that include Penguins (mostly Stephen Stern master-builds) and Falcons (including a Gonzolo Madrigal master-build he did for NAMM af ew years back) as well as some custom Duesenbergs. Like yourself, I really like the Duesenbergs, but all in all, prefer the Gretsch guitars just cause. Thanks again for taking the time to make these demo videos to share your knowledge and talent.
@@GMSade thanks for your comment man! That’s so cool that you own some Stephen stern masterbuilds, I’m on the hunt for a Penguin or a falcon done by stern. I used to own one a few years ago and foolishly sold it. Do you have any pictures or your masterbuilds? Send them to my instagram if you get chance I’d love to check them out @ben_keightley Thanks again
I have a Starplayer TV Custom, such a beautifull looking and sounding guitar. I can 't stop playing it. 🎉 i am also interested to buy a Gretsch in the near future.
@@squealingpigguitars2438 I am thinking about the Gretsch G6120TG Players Edition Nashville. I’d play one at a musicstore, loved it. The only thing is changing the strings on a Bigsby is a little bit of a pain in (you know where) 😀
Thanks for your detailed comparison, I started learning guitar just over a year ago and Californication was the first song that I learned. I really love the design and sound of the Duesenberg, but I‘m kind of blown away by the price. Maybe I’ll come back to one in the next few years, cause I‘m a broke student at the moment 😅. Thanks for the video.
Nice Setzer. I scored a purple/blue one years ago back when eBay was fun and the Oz. dollar was parity with the Eagle, around 2008 or so. Some dude brought a car back in a. container and just filled it up with all kinds of random stuff from the US and then sold it as new but for really discounted prices. Good times. I dropped some pics on insta and sent you a PM there. I was defiantly drawn in by the "gear shift and a gas pedal: marketing they used, loved the simplicity. Those fiddly Bigsby pins are such a pain though. Next mod project I have is to grind the pins off and drill through the bar to make it a string through. It's such an obvious thing to do, it barely counts as an innovation, more a correction. Duesenberg might be "inspired" by Gretsch, but they defiantly do their own thing and I love their styling. Chris Cornell used a Starplayer later. There is some cool footage of him playing My Wave at GC on a black sparkle. He has a sunburst one in his touring rig too.
The sound is different, the 2 guitar are both awesome, but they're not the same thing. Duesenberg is not a copy of Gretsch, it's simply something different.
