Love this movie too. This movie has a Chicago connection. The character Angela: Tony (Tonya Pinkins) is from the South side of Chicago and is the first cousin of my ex-wife. A very nice and beautiful woman as well.
I remember watching that movie in the theater in 1984. I thought that the dancing was great. I also liked the artwork and the paintings. I enjoyed watching that movie.
One of my favorite movies of the 80's growing up in that area as a pre teen was one of the best times of my life everybody thought they could break dance or do karate back then man times have change the kids these days would never get to know how it was during that time I'm 43 now and I still watch this movie and tear up when RAMO die on the train tracks
OMG I love this movie. And I have it. I just got to watch it again. This was the days when we used to break dance. How I miss those days when life was so good. 👍👍💞😘
I just started breakin in 84,and then I got this movie from my local video shop it blew me away loved beat street classic film, use to watch it all the time, ive got a copy of it on dvd Melle Mel and Scorpio signed it for me years later.....🤘😃👍
I give up my own life to give an opportunity to any kid to go back in those days at least to set foot in a public library after school hours, or like my favorite was playing marbles outside on top of dry dirt area.
Amazing Movie! Loved "Beat Street" n "Breakin'" Grew Up Right In The Beginning n Heart Of The Rappin, Poppin' n Lockin' Was Hooked Ever Since Til This Day! n Omg Learned This Year After Watchin Beat Street So Many Times B4, That Guy Davis Iz The Son Of Two Great Parents! Ruby Dee n Ossie Davis!! Loved The Way Lee Did His Thing On The Dance Floor! The Whole Cast Were Amazing, Amazing Times!! 😘
Omg!! Forget Breakin...Beat Street was my movie and music!!!! I was 13 and all the kids in the neighborhood thought we were break dancers. Huge crush on Ramon back then❤ Hmmm miss the days where we battle each other with music instead of knives and guns...
They almost never did just breakdance battles. A lot of times when that happened fistfights and worse would break out. Crews would have beef and solve it via fights just like any other crew. It wasn't like violence only started happening more recently.
Break dance the movie got me into hip hop and popping but beat street upped my game 10 fold. Best time of my life and wish I'd kept all those electro LP's 🥲
@mysterymediacorp In case you missed it. It was just jab at how soft this country has become. You're thinking way to much into it my man and you're a fool if you don't think the sjw's wouldn't have anything to say. They're telling the networks to pull Rudolph the red nose reindeer because there is bullying in it. Soft soft soft was my point.
DOUBLE K: "Live from the Bronx, it's the 6:00 news taping two little homeboys singin' the blues. One talkin' paint, the other one money, and they're so full of shit that it ain't even funny!! Take it away, Walter. Let's kick his ass!!" Loved that line! Lol
I WAS BORN N RISED IN THE SOUTH BRONX STREET..... SPITTTTTTTTTTTT THEY JUS GOT FINISH DOIN A BRAND NEW TRAIN HIPHOP YOU DONT STOP........ IM 43 YEARZ OLD N I STILL LOOK AT BEAT STREET TIL THIS DAY......
The Beat Street movie is one of the things from my childhood that inspired me to brush up on my graffiti letters, develop my first tag, plus start writing rhymes. Once I complete my home production equipment setup, I'll be trying to figure how to use everything I have.
There's a LOT of scenes at the start of this video that were cut from the movie. Wish there was a fan edit/directors cut out there somewhere. Love Beat Street. Seem's a fair bit of "Breakin'" was cut too...
I read up on this a while back, and apparently the missing scenes got binned, totally don't exist anymore apart from what you can see on here and the original trailer. Damn shame.
This dope movie got me to bust my first pare of pumas and I still rock the same kind 30+ years latter. Hip Hop was the best thang in my life back then beside oxygen.
I’m 51 ,my mom who passed away at 72 on Oct 2 2022 love this movie ,her fav part was the Xmas rapping. She played that part over and over. Dougie Fresh. It is still one of my fav movies. I remember my friends going to see it in the movies (I did not go and was jealous lol). Good times. My favorite 80’s movies are Beat Street and Rad. Followed by back to the future. (You realize if they made back to the future in 2024 they would only be going back to 1994,crazy and scary at the same time) in back to the future it seem like they went so far back, the music black-and-white TV but going back to 1994 is not so dramatic as far as technology goes. Sure we have TVs that hang on the wall and I was cell phone is basically a smart computer camcorderTV all in your hand, but from the outside, looking in not much changed
Yo! Those were The Days! That Puma Wind Breaker was Slick AF. I'd rock that gear now if I could find it. Maybe I'll google some and see what pops up. Good to see them again. I wanna see Lee kick that ish now though. He had a slick AzZ Style. No homo.
Classic NYC film. Cooley High Chicago classic and Colors is a LA classic. Those films gave you a true to life guide through those cities and how life were once upon of time. They simply doesn't write nor produce quality films like these anymore.
Some of the video clips were not in the original movie, I know because I watch this movie probably 30 times when I was a kid. Definitely an all-time classic. Way better than Breakin. Also, I had no idea Kenny, Guy Davis, was Ruby and Ossie Davis’s son
Guy Davis is the son of actors Ruby Dee & Ossie Davis 😲? That!! I didn't know which should B a give away since his last name is the same as theirs. I hope I run into him 1 day in New York City . He seems to be entertaining the public with the 🎸.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE ERA OF ALL TIMES THANKS RUclips" MR.T. SWOOP 4'GREATEST MEMORY OF UPLOAD ON THIS JIM..AND ALL THOSE ACTORS PULL THERE ROLL OUTTA THIS MOVIE.. DID ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT..SOME R'STILL WITH US..IT'S BEAUTIFUL SITE TO SEE ALL BEAUTIFUL IN COMMENTS CONTINUE I'LD AGREE!!!::))))
Dude who played Lee was athletic as hell...Kool Moe Dee, Doug E Fresh, and Melle Mel in the movie...they did'nt even mention the New York City Breakers or Rock Steady Crew...not too long after I saw the movie in the theatre...I visited New York City for family reunion and stayed in the Bronx...I was so excited because I grew up in Virginia and I was 12 years old at the time....I was a Hip Hop fanatic ...to be honest, I still am!
Please take me back to the 80's!!! What a wonderful time it was.
Gangbanging was real back then, 80
In my opinion Beat Street was the best break dancing film ever released. 😎👊🏾🤙🏾✌🏾🎥
An absolute classic!! It should be required watching for all kids, 11 and older.

My favorite movie as a teen in Chicago, 1984. Thank you for everyone involved with it.
Love this movie too. This movie has a Chicago connection. The character Angela: Tony (Tonya Pinkins) is from the South side of Chicago and is the first cousin of my ex-wife. A very nice and beautiful woman as well.
The 80's, breakdancing, and hip-hop, made for some great times and great music.
Me and my brother went to see it 7 straight times in the cinema. We were already breakin' so this was awesome! :)
I used to watch this and the warriors over and over again
And the wanderers
I remember watching that movie in the theater in 1984. I thought that the dancing was great. I also liked the artwork and the paintings. I enjoyed watching that movie.

True indeed. Just watched this again the other day on Tubi.

Beat Street is a movie you must have in your collections. I still have soundtrack on tape. I was 10 when I saw this. Install classic.
I have the Albums somewhere in a crate amongst many other Albums.
My era man if i had a 10 million dollars and somebody told me to give up to get those days back I'd hand it over.
If it's on auction I'll be the highest bidder I'll bid million and one to bring those days back
I give up my own life to give an opportunity to any kid to go back in those days at least to set foot in a public library after school hours, or like my favorite was playing marbles outside on top of dry dirt area.
Me too brother
I feel ya!
It’s hard watching the heroes of your youth get old. Just reminds you how old you are
Watched the movie more than 80's times it was my inspiration movie to break dance and to dj - LOVE IT - PEACE TO ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS FROM GERMANY
Grew up in the 80s, this movie changed my life!

They almost never did just breakdance battles. A lot of times when that happened fistfights and worse would break out. Crews would have beef and solve it via fights just like any other crew. It wasn't like violence only started happening more recently.
Great update!!
Wow! I didn't know Guy Davis was Ruby Dee's an Ossie Davis' son. He looks like his mother.. And looks far younger than 65.. Amazing!
My thoughts exactly! ☺️
Uuuuuu
I Knew YEARS ago,BUT He was always a little different to me, but UNlike his famous Parents ,,he was the TOTAL Opposite of what they Did.💁
It's like a heartbeat
I'm taking bout BEAT STREET
Break dance the movie got me into hip hop and popping but beat street upped my game 10 fold. Best time of my life and wish I'd kept all those electro LP's 🥲
"Eat your eggs before I break your legs": Mother Cora.
Today that line would be considered child abuse and deleted from final cut.
classic....:-)
@@warcamp70 Movies today are way more graphic, no one would consider that line as anything other than the joke it was meant to be.
She doesn't look like the same actress who played the Oracle in the Matrix like the video says, strange.
@mysterymediacorp In case you missed it. It was just jab at how soft this country has become. I was 4 years old when this movie was released.
REST IN POWER HARRY BELAFONTE 🎤🎧🎵🎶🎵🎶 ............ 🕊
Beat Street, Breakin, and Flash Dance changed the world.
Yes bruv extra footage is needed.
Yeah I forgot those scenes as when the movie trailers showed them. I wish there was an editors cut too.
I Agree.
I read up on this a while back, and apparently the missing scenes got binned, totally don't exist anymore apart from what you can see on here and the original trailer. Damn shame.

And yes, I know CMD did the main Christmas part, but I was talking about the Dougie Fresh part when his head pops from the bottom
God blessed break dance for ever !
I've watched that movie countless times, and never knew Guy was the child of the great Ruby and Ossie.

Great work. Well done. Thanks
What an amazing movie and moment in Hip Hop. This is when it was raw and real. Now all we got is mumble rappers and how many likes😕😞
That small scene in the movie might be the only time I've seen Kool Moe Dee without sunglasses on.
IKR...LOL😁🥰🤣🤣🤣
Rip RAMO

80s breaking dancing is the blueprint of the way people get down today.
I still wear the old school hoodie and gym pants today!
