Love your commentating on surfing here. This really sets the reality of the difficulty and you speak about intelligently without surfers that all these guys talk. So enjoy seeing Carol and you out there.
Just scream I'M GOIN and you will be all right Love the Vlog. Hawaii is all about Reps the more you get the more comfy will be, The more comfy everybody will be with you ... :)
Favorite Hike : Zion National Park, Utah. Angels Landing .Spring and fall are the best. it's well over 100 degrees in the summer. The Subway hike there is great too.
Don't know if you're ever in Canada but The West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island here in BC is phenomenal - challenging, unique, stunning coastline/forest adventure. It's a multi-day hike though, so definitely not a last-minute option! You can always head up to Tofino after too :)
I live on Vancouver island, and there are so many hiking trails you can find, along with beautiful waterfalls and great views over the mountains and lakes. There is also surfing in Tofino! (its the best in winter)
Hey Lakey, really liked the comments on surfing! It would be great to get more content on that, like different surfing maneuvers and such :) ... and favourite hike: Gergeti Glacier in Kazbegi, Georgia (in Europe)
New sub 👍 I love seeing female surfers at my local breaks, where as 20 years ago there were hardly any. Everyone has the right to ride the waves, no one owns a break. Sometimes there are inexperienced surfers who put others in danger because they are putting themselves in situations that exceed their skill or fitness levels.
Glad to see you getting some Lani's. On a N or NE swell - it's such a phenomenal wave. That current at Haleiwa is a river. You gotta keep catching waves there, to put it to work for you. But for sure, there's no resting out there, or you'll find yourself getting sucked into the impact zone, and eventually to the left on the other side of the peak. Good to see you pushing hard in Hawaii... Good luck in whatever competitions are allowed to go forward, in the coming year. Keep pushing until you've got the Championship trophy.
Top three hikes: 1: Annapurna Base Camp (Nepal) 2: somewhere in France I can't remember aha 3: Byron Bay lighthouse :) also, I love surfing so much and I always go to the Rip Curl Pro at Bells and watch you guys absolutely charge and I just wanted to say Hi and I love you guys
Tahiti number one Sri Lanka number two France ( alps) number three Loved the little voiceover about surfing in Hawaii super interesting to have some insights about surfing there . Good to have some other images than just turns on waves. Should do it more 😊😊
echo your comments on surfing: you're atypically articulate. I don't know how to surf, but I've always loved watching it. I'd like to hear how judges judge contests, especially how they award points for artistry if they do. Or is it just a question of how long you can stay on the wave. I'm also very impressed with your work out. I cannot sustain an effort if I workout alone. the slack in me emerges in the first five minutes. any tips there would be appreciated .
I’ll try and include the above in the next month of videos! It’s a super good question on the judging! Use a reward system for your workouts. Set a goal each month of how many sessions you need to complete a month. Tick them off weekly and think of something to spoil yourself a little if you hit the goal… that seems to work for me at least 🙌
@@Lakey_Peterson how kind of you to reply! ya know, I forgot about the old reward system. lol I'll give it a go. thank you. I first started admiring surfers while watching an acquaintance/friend surf in Laguna Beach when we were 12yrs old in the 70's. His name was Kevin O'Sullivan. Everybody thought that Hobie Alter Jr. was the best. But there was something about Kevin's relationship with the water even at that age that was memorizing. No one else had it. He'd float up the face like a log, turn and bolt back down, and then cut back like a sushi chef slicing through tuna, a thing of beauty. My family move away so I never learned, but since then I always love looking at surfers to see how they relate to the water. Kind regards, Jon
1.) Angels Landing, Zion 2.) Napali Coast, Kauai 3.) Mount Kinabalu, Borneo Malyasia LOVED the commentary on this episode about what it's like to be a woman surfing in Hawaii! What would you say to girls who are starting out and want to shortboard? Go straight to a shortboard, or start with a longboard and move to shorter boards over time? Thanks Lakey!
Thanks so much! I would definitely recommend starting on either a longboard or hybrid and then transitioning down into the short board slowly. Hope that helps!
I live in Utah and Zions National Park is amazing! There is a specific hike called angels landing you should try. It looks like you are not afraid of heights so you should be fine😉
fuego / acatenango in guatemala... its the most epic hike you will ever do and you get a great active volcano view at the top. its pretty difficult too.
I'm not as well traveled as some of these other comments and great suggestions below, but if you are ever in southwest Colorado, Yankee Boy Basin in the San Juan mountain range is an awesome drive and hike.
Hikes: Mt Aitken NZ, Mt Townsend and the Main range track in Aus, The Castle in the Budawangs, blue water holes in Kosciusko! Just some suggestions haha you never know you might have some free time while you're here in Aus.
Also Tahiti, Raiatea. Lots in the Caribbean islands. Not the most challenging but always good views. I am imagining you might enjoy Dominica. If you ever need a captain for a surf yacht charter let me know.. I know the Caribbean well, especially BVI. Theres a very quiet good right hander I can take you too. Usually Dec, Jan Feb.
@@Lakey_Peterson I was recognised as the Moorings best captain by Tui Marine, when I asked they said it was based on the guest reviews. The moorings is the largest charter company in the world. I believe what helped me earn that was doing my best to extract what kind of experience the guests were looking for before setting course. I have scored that wave by myself a number of times. It's a right hander, reef break. Sustains a nice bowl. All of the many BVI islands have hiking trails and awesome views. Except for one that is totally flat. ;)
Watch the buoy at Haleiwa - it’s a harbor that was dredged- Toilet Bowl throws the end at you, just when you thought it was over. Haleiwa is about CONFIDENCE.
Mount Smutwood in Alberta, Canada. I'll take you and Tom if you're ever near Banff. It offers everything - alpine, meadows, glaciers, forest, lakes, waterfalls, and maybe a grizzly bear if you're lucky. instagram.com/keelstewart

You should try the “tiny hike” in Punta cometa, Oaxaca: supposedly a lot of people say is the best spot to see the”best” sunset in all Mexico.
So FIT!
