What is the black goo in Mockingjay?

- Hi friends! This week we look at the black goop wave that threatens squad 451!
While squad 451 are filming in the Capitol, a pod is accidentally triggered. This pod releases a tidal wave of black goo, that kills Mitchell. But what exactly is it? Why is it a wave but then it's a gel like goop? Why doe sit release fumes?

Story Diver is all about diving into stories! I look at how characters are developed or changed from a book to a movie, and I share some of the theories I have buzzing around my brain. Join me every Tuesday for a theory, and every Friday for a Character Spotlight!
I personally think it is tar mixed with and shards metal, and a chemical that can kill on contact. Maybe a liquid version of the fog from catching fire?
that’s a very good thought
Or it's actually the Nano hydra in the vaccine they gave people
Predictive programming for the sentient black goo that exists in real life
Yup is on the 100 on x files , prometheus , raka , venon and i am sure is in way more i even see it in a music performance i am trun to keeep a track of it .
What if it’s a mixture of tar and a chemical, maybe one that was created by the capital? The capital could have combined the two to create a chemical weapon that is easier to spread?
Maybe there was the same toxic (but liquid) in it as the toxic gasses in the mist in the arena
I mean if they can control snakes years ago then they could make a toxic goo in no time
The goo was made up of melted unsold copies of the E.T. game.
Canon
Literal fax
This is so specific that i love it
no one is gonna get that reference
It’s grahine - it has intelligence too - possibly Nano tech
Black Goo is nano particles and a form of AI.
You are the most driven and hard working person I have ever seen. You can tell how much work you put into your videos, and it is awesome to get questions answered about this fandom! Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
@@StoryDiver what are your thoughts on the new book
it’s said in the hunger games ride that it’s hot tar so that’s the best answer we’ve got
What hunger games ride in a theme park? If so where is this theme park
There’s a hunger games ride? Where?
We need to know please!
the ride gives an areal tour of panem and the capitol
@@CamGlamorous where is it?
i think its a type of tar that only exists in panem like nightlock berries or jaberjays
I don't fully argee, because the nightlock berries and jaberjays are mutated and tar is a molecule and can't mutate so this doesn't make a lot of sense.
@@raynasomers6266 not to be rude. But he by "Like Jabberjays and Nightlock" he means its a type of tar only in the hunger games he does not mean mutated tar.
Its graphene and theyre putting it in everything in REAL LIFE
Whatever it is they put it everywhere and add a car wash
The black goo in this movie is the same as the black goo that appears in other movies like Prometheus and lots of music film clips; it's predictive programming about the graphene in the vaccine.
Yep!!!
Corona virus
agree, its everywhere
The “Black goo” is actually the blood of the Giants(Rephiem.)🤷🏾♂️ The mountains we climb on the ground we walk on…Bodies🤷🏾♂️
Graphene Hydroxide being manipulated by frequencies
The black goo comes out in many Hollywood movies they say it's an Evil AI that came from Antarctica.
So it rains it down in Germany. Why just Germany
from antarctica but its alien
Search: Harald Kautz black goo. Also, reference the films Prometheus and Covenant from the Alien franchise. Enjoy :)
You're my absolute favorite channel! I finally read the hunger games at the beginning of this year. I'm so glad you still discuss the hunger games in 2020!!
this is a simple and interesting question. I'm excited for the answer! :)
What about the weird net that sliced up the guy who fell in? How can that be explained?
I originally believed the net was somehow caused once coming in contact with the goo, but storydiver explained that the goo triggers other pods, so the net was most likely a pod triggered by Mitchell after Peeta threw him to his death.
The goo was made up of my melted mix tape.
this has the same vibes of a film theory video and im thRIVING sis you're amazing
not really
I love how this channel is similar to the game/food/film theorists
Its hecking amazing
The amount of research that goes into this- so underrated
Hi I love your work I like how you touch down on things like this..
I have always wonder about this
These hunger games videos are the main driving force for this great RUclips channel. Cuz since it's a dystopian literature, it's something almost anyone can relate to based on the things that happen or happened in the real world.
Black goo is a nanorobotic quantum computer super intelligence, known as A.L.I.C.C.E built under Dallas in the 1980s. They put her in tons of movies.
I’m really confused. If the capital kept sending people’s kids into the hunger games, why can’t the districts just not reproduce? Isn’t this a plot hole?
Panem is under a ruthless dictatorship, I'm sure the government could force the issue of pregnancy.
@@thesimslover82884 yes they could force it,but there is 100s of thousands district citizens that they would have to force. Doesn’t seem possible.
@@venomousviper3691 With all the technology the Captiol has, and Peacekeepers, they can force pretty much anything they want. District 12 has 10,000 people, that's not alot for The Captiol to force into pregnancy. Considering not all are able to be pregnant, anyway, so the number would be smaller.
then they would just die out, and that would basically just be letting the Capitol win. plus, that would be extremely hard to get everyone to agree to just not have kids. especially since it's seen as an honor in the higher districts.
@@thesimslover82884 but yes you’re forgetting about the other districts who have way more.
Graphine oxide
I love the research you do for these videos!
#BlackGoo is nanotech. Search it as a # on social media. Super creepy..fits the description. Also referenced in Michael Crichton sci-fi novel, "Prey"
Great video I love all of your content especially the hunger games stuff. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Helloooooo!!!!! IM BACK I MISSED YOU !!!!!
I think the liquid is a tar substance a very dangerous type of it though when inhaled or sunk into. Im just repeating what the book said now.🙄
Congrats on so many subs from the last time I was here you are amazing!!!!!!🤩😊😁😀😃😄🥳
Graphene oxide
It is nanoparticles
I thought it was the barbed wire that killed Mitchell
We see in both the books and the movies he is still alive, though injured, in the net. The goo is what ultimately killed him
I thought it was the tar that “spawned” the barbed wire that killed them when they came in contact with it 😂. This video has really cleared things up for me.
What if the black goo was graphene?
maybe the black goo or tar has been altered by the capitol making it dry fast
1:03 PEETAd out haha!
Hahahaha🤣
Very thought-provoking video, keep up the great work. For my two cents, could it have been something along the lines of hovercraft fuel? They would have had plenty of that available to use that much that it would rise to multiple stories of buildings.
I kind of think it was hot coal. Thinking of district 12 and the capitol riches. Also I think they did it to irritate Katniss.
I meant hot liquid coal
It’s graphene
what are the books that you have displayed on the bottom left shelf?
i tried to zoom in but i couldn't make out the titles. im commenting here in case anyone knows because i'm looking for more books to read. if you have any book suggestions i'd love those too because i am so. bored. lol
@@sophieleder9855 nice. i just got a book, i haven't read it yet, but it looks cool. it's called Wilder Girls by Rory Power. i think it's a dystopian mystery with a bit of horror. if your bored, try it out lol
The Hunger Games 10th edition, my old (old) copies of His dark materials, and my very battered copies of The Sight
@@StoryDiver oh cool! I'm watching his dark materials right now! it's pretty interesting so far haha
@@sydneys5298 it’s my favourite book series!
Thank you so much! Love your channel.
Glad you enjoy it!
I watched this scene again and again and again and could not figure out what it was.
I love how your ideas always have a deeper meaning and can be traced back to your other videos!
Glad you like them!
Omg Tysm!!!!! I’m so happy this was answered
Maybe its resin? I know it can harden slowly or fastly , it has fuems and can be colored as you wish.Furthermore, when it hardens, it heats up, witch can make you sufecate .
Happy bubbles!
Can you plz respond 😊? I always wanted you to respond ☺️
It could be resin, though resin doesn't smell like tar
Your right🤔 maybe they added a cent , but its unlikely. Why would they add smell to a deadly trap? Its pretty unlikely...
Thank you! This is the one question I've never seen anyone talk about.
Well I wasn't expecting to get a science lesson out of this. Keep up the great work and happy winter!
Look up Harald Kautz Vella, he talks about this black goo in an interview - age of truth TV.
Here is the link of his presentation on Black Goo from a while ago ruclips.net/video/j88BcgzzcTc/видео.html
My first inclination was just pure tar because it’s thick enough to absorb boot treads but thin enough to wear it can dry and you can walk on it without burning through it
I don’t think you’ve missed the point. I definitely agree with what you said about Gale.
Why does this not have more likes? Love your vids💜😃
I think the goo is a mix of tar and poison which when burned by the heat of the tar caused the fumes coming off of the tar to be somewhat toxic
That is what I think too
My guess it's Parathane mixed with Tar and paint thinner. And after it dries out it applies a coating 🖤 But this was a killer scene 😮
hi! i just finished the ballad of songbirds and snakes and i loved it more than i thought i would! i know you said you wouldn't talk about it until the movie or something, but i still would absolutely love to hear your opinion, maybe in a video with extensive spoiler warnings?
(slight spoilers)
i loved the parallels between lucy gray and katniss and i got a good laugh thinking about snow's reaction to hearing katniss sing the hanging tree after we learned about its origin.
She is great doing sign language for the deaf audience while speaking. Multi tasking at its best.
i very much am a fan of the games i read every book and i love your theories BTW can you rank your favourite to least favourite district
pls reply
My mind while watching this
aYeAh WhErEs tHe A GABA GOO?
Hi I have a video suggestion! What if there wasn’t a tracker jacket nest in the tree Katniss climbed? (In the first book)
I have a question. What would happen if a mentor died? Who would train the tributes and give them advice?
I have a video about this!
I think it is something completely made up in Panem. They have the technology, look at the various mutts they've created, and the jabberjays and trackerjackers. They have the technology and science to do this.
Not tar...there was a patch of tar in the parking lot by my house, and I thought it was dry but I stepped on it and it definitely left footprints 🤣
I Think this scene was shot in my country france
its recorded in a green screen studio thats not big at all in Pennsylvania
@@joris25622 nope lol
@@joris25622 www.kevmrc.com/hunger-games-filming-location-exploring-urban-playground
I believe that is may be tar and has small little pods in it that triggered the death of that one crewmate. Question... Do you watch Christian Blanco I highly recommend you do if you have never heard the name. Happy Bubbles🐳❤️🐍
Also I have a theory idea, how did President Snow know that the crew sent in to get Peeta, Johanna and Annie were in the training center. Keep in mind Beetee interfered live television and he's the smartest person in Panem also not to mention the fact that District 5s dam was broken this leading to no power
I do know him, but I don't watch his videos. I've never been a big fan of fanfiction
@@StoryDiver oh I see
Maybe a mix between tar and something else? Maybe even something created specifically to make it more lethal
This was one of my favorite scenes and I’ve always wondered what it was! Can’t wait to find out! I love your videos!!💕
nanomachines/programmable matter/ Intelligent Liquid Crystal
Tar seems like a really good idea but I dont know if it is because If if was katniss just simply states it smells like tar and if it is tar I dont think the writers would just tell everyone straight away, maybe its something we dont know since it is in the future and scientist's are finding new elements everyday it could be a new conpound or something.
This might be a sort of dumb question, but how does the hovercraft go into the arena without the other tributes noticing how it gets in?
I had never thought about that but I agree that it's probably tar. As for the gas I don't think that if was just Gale being stressed they would have brought that up more times, so I think it was another weapon that was activated by the tar.
Can you make a video on the Divergent series
Could you make a video about the nightlock berries
Love your videos
Have you finished The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes?
I know I have! Its a great book!
I have
I am not positive but I am pretty sure they say in the movie that it is oil, when gale says that the oil covered the cameras
Hold up do a Twilight video next : what if Edward never met Bella
I love all of Story Divers content!! Also, how advanced was the Capital than during now? What subject does the Capital focus on the most?
Plus, does the Capital have the same attractions (Theme parks, Carnivals, IFly, etc) and are they less or more advanced?
I think that if it was to poison it could possibly be made of tar and nightlock as nightlock berries are frequently used in the hunger games like in the first games and when they have nightlock pills in mockingjay in case they get captured
I think the tar is a Capitol mixture, as in it is created in a Capitol lab
Tar + Ammonia? More than likely
I would like to see a video on what would’ve happened if Katniss didn’t get the district 12 backpack in the first book/movie’s feast, because that would mean Peeta wouldn’t make it
It’s a sentient entity in real life found on Thule island hence the Falklands war
The ultimate slime 😂
I always thought it was just hot tar
Hello Story Diver! I have a question...where are you from?
It'd be cool If she made a video on what she thinks happened to ceasar flickerman after the rebellion. Or what Effie went on to do with her life
black goo is a real thing...look up Harald Kautz
Here is the link to the original Harald Kautz Villa presentation on black goo ruclips.net/video/j88BcgzzcTc/видео.html
I think it is tar but it is watered down. Also it is mixed with a chemical that is toxic.
How did the goo not break the building with al of the water pressure and what could the capitol contain this in for it not to break or melt through?
Sound awesome ... I'm ready for my first time ... 🤫
I think it is tar mixed with radioactive sunstances.
the black goo is mother earth
Love you vids also maybe it was LICKERISH JELLO
That stuff is so poisonous - it is 100% lickerish jello
@@CC-yx2rt Well Lickerish is poisonous so that is true.
Maybe it is tar that they poisoned that takes awhile to hurt you. It also could dry faster if made by the Capitol.
We'll know soon...
Can you do a video on what was Annie like before the games and more details about how her and Finnick fell in love
I love ur vids
I always just assumed it was tar...
I hate it when Mitchell died
Huh. Interesting idea.
Story driver Have you watch tales of the hunger games by a RUclipsr name Christian Blanco? and if so what do you think about? It’s pretty great and while I know it’s not canon I personally think it is canon it is a great series and I’m just waiting for more.
