Your editor shows "Microphones" on the bottom left of the window. My free version of Palettes shows "Mixer" on the bottom left. I don't find any way of switching from Mixer to Microphones. Is that something I can't control because I have the free version?

Correct. If you have Palette - Primary Colors then there is only one mic position.
What about Rule 2 "CC"?
