Good job with the weight loss, Cathy! We need to celebrate any wins. I am 66 and could not loss weight despite trying for the past 5 years. After doing some research, I begged my GYN dr. to put me on estrogen replacement therapy. Finally, with diet and exercise, the weight is starting to come off. I don't know how the Canadian doctors feel about HRT, but in the US, it seems like a lot of drs. are lacking in menopausal/ post menopausal medicine. Most of them base their decisions on a flawed study that was done 20 years ago.

Cathy, your sadness really comes through in this video and that's a good thing. It means you're facing it, processing it, and releasing it. I am so sorry about your husband's diagnosis, but I see how you are so thankful that he's still with you. We have so much in common with each other - from the emotional eating to battling weight most of our adult lives to menopause to husband issues. I am also 56 years old and I get it. I lost my husband in 2011 to a sudden motorcycle accident with a drunk driver. It was horrifying and so shocking and the trauma I think sometimes is still with me. I'm really considering going to talk to someone after all of this time. Thank you for the suggestion and I send you thoughts and prayers for your husband's health and yours.

I loved this video, Cathy! I’m 70 , a cancer survivor dealing with chronic osteoarthritis and osteoarthritis pain. My husband had a stroke several years ago and I have become a caregiver now. It could be worse because he can walk and take care of his personal needs. He has cognitive delays and speech aphasia and is a fall risk. Some days I want to run away, but I try and find humor in every situation and apologize when I lose my temper. ( does your regular doctor know how badly the other doctor treated you) ? I hope you told him.💕

I was beating myself up with my 30 lb loss in a year as my 110 loss had happened faster and easier.
Weightloss is hard and it’s way more mental and what’s happening in your life.
Like you I’ve lost it fast put it on and yo-yo’d all my life.
The biggest change is not loosing 30-50pound and putting 80 on.
We all have our own ways and it’s a learning curve as to what suits you but I firmly believe slimming clubs destroyed my relationship with food.
I’m still finding it hard that 30lb and I’ll be at my goal at a 26/28 24 stone I never thought it possible.
But I had to change my mindset and that’s what you have done well done chick your doing fabulous.

You’re doing so well on so many levels, from successful weight loss to dealing with some serious issues. It’s true that you have to live your life and make good memories rather than sit around and wring your hands because the worst may not happen, or may not happen for a long time, and think of all that time wasted with worrying. When I’ve had a loved one in declining health I’ve found it helpful to think that at least they’re OK today, so we’ll make today a good one. I do hope your knee doesn’t require surgery, and can relate to anxiety over an MRI. Been there, done that, and had to do so without any medication because I couldn’t get anyone to go with/drive me. Take the meds, get on the path to recovery 😊

100%. This is totally true. It's really hard to stick with it, that's the problem. Getting rid of ultra processed food and industrial seed oils and also eliminating snacking is a great start.

I wish my father had stopped having scans toward the end of his cancer journey. He had also decided to forgo further treatment. Once I reach that point, I will just enjoy each day as it comes. If my affairs are already in order, I’m not going to waste time monitoring the process.

Hi Cathy! First of all, I'm glad to hear your husband is doing OK. Secondly, congrats on the 27lb loss! Stress is just the worst thing because it affects every aspect of our lives. My 'go to' stress reliever is to pick up my needle work whether it be knitting, crochet or counted cross stitch. I find that helps me so much. I'll check out the game for sure. Losing weight slowly is the best way to go. I've lost a lot of weight in the last 18 mos. I did plateau for several months but I kept on track and am now seeing the last 30 lbs starting to come off. You'll get there too! Take good care of yourself! Sending good thoughts and prayers for you husband!!

I am a lifetime yo-yo dieter who has gained and lost 50 pounds a few times. During Covid knew if I didn’t diet I would gain a lot of weight. I was a weight watcher in the past and was familiar with the diet so I joined Healthi. As a result,I lost 75 pounds in 2 years. I never reached my goal and a now trying to maintain (which is difficult.)

Don't worry Cathy, if it is a MRI for your knee your upper body doesn't have to go into the machine! Thanks for sharing this. I wish I new my expiration date as I am terrified to just drop dead and leave my dogs behind(yes I am a crazy dog lady). At my age I truly do try to live each day to its' fullest and enjoy the small moments.

Congrats on losing 27 lbs. and keeping it off. You have been through a lot of stress during your married life. I have 20 lbs. to lose. Seemed I gained it during the pandemic and the final days and afterwards losing my mom, my best friend, in 2021. I’m doing the WW diabetic plan but after tracking meals for so many years I’m just tired of it. I really need to try your method. I enjoy your videos. Prayers for you and your family. ❤️🙏🏻 (I wish doctors would stop telling people how long they have. My dad was given 3 years and went 7.)

Hi Cathy, I have to say you're so practical, wise & have inspired me. I too have been overweight most of my life and would LOVE to lose 20+lbs. So I made an apptmt with an nutritionist to help with my eating portions and habits. Prior to marriage i didn't have a sweet tooth...so obv taking accountability, I have to stop now, and ignore the Trader Joe's treats as well. I'm not a binge eater, but enjoy yummy foods as a treat, for having a hard day or accomplishing something tough. But getting older, I realize I have to change my ways (my A1C levels are too high). Thanks for helping me take the 1st step! I exercise so that's not the problem, so I hope this works! Thanks again!

So much that is relatable here, thank you for your honesty! I honestly believe that losing slowly and revamping our lifestyles to be healthier is the way to go. I've done the "all or nothing," absolutely. Deprivation is a recipe for disaster too. Moderation is all that works for me. I am encouraged by your updates! "Persistence over perfection" is a good mindset! I'll remember that! Just so you know, I continue to pray for your husband and for you and will keep it up, promise!

This was a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. I can relate to the stress and worried of a loved ones health issues. My husband pass in June of 22 and was and was a caregiver since June of 2019 to him and his 64 year old doughtier who was disabled. My weight, health and depression suffered tremendously.. Four months after his death the daughter had to be moved to a nursing facility. I am now responsible for only myself and I am healing and recovering. Still working on the weight however lack of protein and exercise are my downfalls. You story was very encouraging to me. Blessings to you from Texas.

I loved your video today, very inspiring thoughts. You look fantastic in that blue dress you have on the colors and print is so becoming. As we all struggle with the food noise, 😅 I’ve found what helps me a lot to fix the cravings. I buy the sugar free low carb protein drinks. Not sure what’s available in Canada but here in the states I like Premiere Protein or Fairlife protein drinks. I blend them with Greek yogurt, frozen berries and ice. A delicious shake you can feel very good about drinking. They don’t raise your blood sugar, so you won’t keep craving sweets as regular shakes will. We also have carb smart no sugar ice cream I like to reward myself with. Delicious treats without guilt. I too changed my eating habits last fall, to a low carb, no sugar lifestyle. I don’t call it a diet, as I see it as a healthy lifestyle. Pounds are slowly coming off buy I feel 100 percent better.

Preach it, Dr Cathy🎉 You don’t know just how many women needed this little talk‼️ Myself included ❤ I love your blouse or dress, whichever. I also have had an unusually large amount of stress in my life since I was 20! And your path sounds a lot like mine in that I’ve had to figure a lot of things out for myself. I also have talked with professionals and it did help. The most important thing I learned and hung on to was, “ stay in the present “. I can go on a downward spiral just thinking what if, what might happen and on and on. Today…everything is ok. Today…everyone’s healthy etc. Some of my stress came from being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 28! I have had 16 surgeries on my bones and because of breast cancer. But I do understand your fear of going under. Anyway Cathy, I really enjoyed your video. Have you done one on your am & pm skincare routine? If not I’d like to see that. Take care of yourself and the hubs❤ Susan

I unfortunately am VERY lactose intolerant, it makes me SICK not just flatulent. Protein powders and meal replacement drinks have an abundance of whey powder or other dairy derivatives in them. BE AWARE to anyone trying them for first time, if you have similar issues.

That’s great that you’ve lost half of your goal. I think if you lose weight slowly you keep it off. I’m hoping to start after I see my new endocrinologist in October. I want off the steroids. I don’t like all the side effects. And the weight gain is one of them. But there are a lot of others. Muscle cramps are bad. And I take Potassium for that. My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. So we’re both eating better. We’ve already cut la lot of red meat out of our diet. I do enjoy a big old hamburger once in a while. I got the flu in June, and I’m 65, and it kicked my butt. It seemed to hang on. And I went to the doctor and he gave me nothing. And my husband had something too. I don’t get sick very often. I was thinking and it was five years ago, when I got sick. We were staying with my daughter and her family. One of the kids brought it home and passed it around. I think it was Covid before it was heard of. My grandson went to school with kids who had family all over the world. And he started it. And I had a cough for three weeks. And that was the last time I was sick. That’s a great motto to live by. Maybe I will try it. But for some reason I’m always hungry taking steroids. And I don’t think they’re really helping me that much. My step father always said that doctors are practicing medicine. So they don’t know everything or they wouldn’t be practicing. That changed my mind towards a lot of doctors. My bladder is my main reason I don’t get a good nights sleep. I have been going to a nurse practitioner. But nothing is working. So I’m going to quit going there. Do they have open MRI’s there. I can’t do them either. I had at least ten of them before my pituitary surgery. I had to be knocked out. Because they put something over my head to keep it still. I went to the open MRI and I saw the thing they would put over my head. And I said no thank you. Called my husband, who went across the street to get some coffee. And he came back and got me and we left. But since it’s your knee they would only have to keep your knee still. So maybe you could do that.

God bless you Cathy. I now first hand about knee pain. I tore my miniscus and had to have arthroscopic surgery. It's a long road. When you get your mri ask for an open one. If you can't get an open one ask for them to put a mirror in the machine so you can look out. It really works. I suffer panic attacks, so I needed some help in the mri machine. Prayers for your family. By the way, you look great.
