Mark Gatiss is correct. "Big Ben" is the name of the bell housed inside the tower not the tower itself.
The current name of the tower is The Elizabeth Tower (previously called St. Stephen's Tower). Despite it not being the name of the tower, many people frequently refer to the structure as being "Big Ben."
With the exception of this posting, I have given up on correcting people because they persist in being wrong.

GUYS isnt there a theory that sherringford holmes is going to be brought in as sherlock and mycroft's third brother?? because mycroft says in the show 'you know what happened to the other one' when theyre talking about his brother sherlock, so presumably he has another brother that's going to be brought in - sherringford?? this interview convinced me this is going to happen omfg

So, if Doyle first thought naming Sherlock Sherringford and these days the possible other brother "Sherrinford" is our main problem, maybe Mycroft was calling Sherlock, Sherrinford for some safety? Cause they said they both know the name Sherringford which is Doyle's first name idea to give Sherlock. They might have used this name for a little trick?
