- I was looking for a smaller tuner that would handle the full 100watts of power from my ft-891 that i had just purchased to start working portable. I looked around online and decided to take a chance on this little unit. Im glad I did. Its a nice smaller unit that tunes up the bands very quickly. So if your in the market for a tuner for your ft-891 then you may want to check this little unit out.

I just got mine yesterday. The pins in the data cable is scary small. Once everything was hooked up it was incredibly easy to use. Quite a step up from my MFJ Manual tuner and, this does not require any external power whic is a huge plus for portable use.
Hi, thanks for this. I was struggling to get mine to work, I got it months ago and basically gave up with it and put it back in the box. I saw your tip about entering the menu and setting it to ext atu, my FT450D was set to int atu, doh! I'm new to this so it was a great help, I'm on 80mtrs now! 73 M7HUX

Exactly my problem until I saw this.
Great video but I still could not get my tuner to respond in the "F" 1 menu and I had set 16-15 menu to external , but when I would push and hold the button it would only beep. So I did the factory reset and chose the 2nd option, the screen went blank then came back on and now it functions just like the video! I tried it out and worked 3 POTA stations with my Chameleon Delta loop on 20m!!
I have a question about using the mAT-30 automatic tuner with this radio. I went into the menu system, item 16-15 has to be set to external, which I just did. Now I don't have the tuner yet, it's arriving on Monday, however I went into the menu system to The Function 1 screen, scrolled to the TNR icon, pressed the multifunction knob, and the TNR did not highlight. Is this because I have to have the tuner hooked up to the radio first, in order to enable me to use the TNR function?

question ....if you have a 100 watts radio and a magnetic loop antena 45 wat max input (TUNING CAPACITOR Air variable dual MAX POWER 45W PEP (SSB)... if you reduce the output power of the ratio to 40 watts .... do you need a tunner other than the antena capacitor???? QUESTION -- does the "online" light remain "on" while you are transmitting on SSB? Also, when the "online" light is "off" that means the tuner is bypassed? My mAT-30 instructions aren't very clear on that. Please advise. Thank you.
I dont have this setup anymore. But yes the online light I believe means tuner is on with the radio and when off it is in bypass mode. Hope this helps.
@@59radio22 -- One more question. Did you leave the tuner "online" while you dialed (surfed) the frequencies? I hear the relays clicking as I surf the frequencies when tuner is "online". Thank you.

@@tomasz5274 had some extra bills come up, so had to sell to pay them, otherwise id kept the setup as it worked great

Dear colleague, could you tell me if this tuner works for the Vertex Standard vx-1700? The output connector of the equipment is the same as the Yaesu ones mentioned in the mAT-30 manual. Thank you so much. 73 from Argentina.

I don't have it anymore. Sold it with my 891 few years ago. But recently got another, and will be getting another

@MAT-TUNER TUNER If I take the MAT 30 offline but leave connected (because antenna is resonant on 1 band and I don't need the tuner) no RF passed when mic is keyed. Is this a fault or I am missing something in the menus?

I purchased this for around $150 USD at the time of the video. So would depend on which ldg tuner was looking at getting
