Given your love of walruses I'm surprised you didn't mention that while whales may have the largest penises, walruses have the largest baculum. They have an actual 22 inch bone in their boner. And here's a fun fan theory: some people say that the 'rib' in genesis was a euphemism for a baculum. Humans ate lots of animals with a baculum and noticed those animals had a bone with no analogue in humans. So they made a just-so story: men don't have a baculum because God made Eve out of Adam's baculum.
Omg! I wouldn’t have imagined until I saw your footage and squinted real hard! I saw a program that posed “Nessy” was a Greenland shark which ok I know that there is a river that drains the lake into the ocean and it’s cold enough. But old maritime sailors thought manatee’s were mermaids. I guess a life on a ship with only men they fantasized a lot. Hilarious take though! Sending this to BF!
If I recall right, a few years back they did DNA tests on Loch Ness water and found plenty of eel DNA, making them think Nessie's some kind of mutated eel. I don't remember nothing about whale willy DNA in there.
The only eels in Loch Ness don't grow any larger than 4 feet, they are European Eel and are critically endangered. At the time they gathered DNA samples the eels were reproducing if not getting ready to migrate out the loch and into the sea. Reply made: 12:11 PM Monday, October 3 2022
People also forget that Nessie is based of a Plesiosaur, which lived in salt water, if you somehow found one in the loch ness, that there Plesiosaur wouldn't be present tense very long.
you showed images of whales sticking their 'equipment' out of the water, so i don't think it would be impossible ancient sailors to have seen that from a distance in low light or fog and wondered "what the heck is that" without ever getting a good look at the rest of the animal. Not every sailor was a whaler and would have the same knowledge. And it's even possible it never occurred to the whalers since the whales they caught and butchered - one would assume - did not typically have it all hanging out.
Imagine making an entire genre of movie, dedicating so much research in the lochness monster. And it ended up being a whale's reproductive organ. Glad it is not the case.
So if the whales exposing their male genitalia to the sailors back in the day were adolescents; Makes you wonder if they're doing it for the same reasoning human juvenile delinquents act like wankers to most adult authorities🤔. Or to say, "My flag pole is bigger than your ships and I bet it can't do this.." Which makes me also wonder if their are any reports of any whale intentionally peeing on whaling ships/ crew?
Folklore studies. In cultural anthropology. I wouldn't say that it really is a "scientific version of cryptozoology" per se. Cultural anthropology itself is very much a genuine discipline of academic study ... of human beings and human nature. There's no "crypto-" in it. But I'm fairly sure this is what you're thinking of. :) In any event, if you are interested in the subject, I will say that some of their major texts can be extremely entertaining. It's fascinating to see what stories humans have concocted over the millennia and to think about why we have done so. I highly recommend it. You can also find historians who specialize in folklore. (My discipline is cultural history so I've met a couple of them.) They take a different approach, often trying to track down the origin of these legends and myths. Most will focus just on one tale and spend years trying to find primary sources tracing it back in time. It's NOT easy research, to be honest. But it often ends up revealing how an entirely normal event gets twisted and exaggerated over time, turning into a legend.
I find it funny that "Free Willy" is brought up a few times, and yet it doesn't make sense that a whale or dolphin could have been stuck or washed up into the lock. My uncle and aunt live in Scotland and say that there are so many caves under the surface. Marine mammals wash up on the beach all the time in some parts, and Scotland used to be(sometimes still is) a mostly wet land where it does flood. That coupled with some giant waves...it's likely. Also a marine mammal *could* live in the lock for a while. Yeah they live in the sea, but assuming there were washed up into the lock, the sea water would make the ph saltier and no, given the caves, the lock isn't actually as closed off as you think. Or it wasn't when this all started. Basically, I have the opposite opinion. I think the myth is solved.
Just thought of something. Are there any old boats or parts of one that have damages that are said to be from a sea monster? Even just a recorded case?
Part of the reason why some people still believe is that suposed "experts" like that ecology professor, and many before him, that dismissed the claims with an even more obsurd "rational" explaination. That and some people believe because they have seen things that to them, or to the people who hear of it, consider to be best explained by being the same animal(s) that have previously been reported (often without little regard for whether the discriptions are an exact match or not or even if multiple animal species are involved).
@@KPassionate You may or may not be aware of this but the word "wanker" is British slang for...well - let's say similar to what Americans call a "jerkoff". 🤣

In your personal opinion do you think there's a chance that are still fantastical or bizarre creatures dwelling in the deep. Creatures that either we simply have not discovered yet in our fantastical in their attitudes or creatures that might have directly inspired ancient legends
That’s a question for a different video! In short, because there is a literal bone called a baculum in most mammals penises that prevents this problem lol
pitching a nessy.
Immediately pinning this comment 😂
Omg it makes even more sense now what Nessie from apex is based from.
A cute hard little cock or something lmao😂 it's cute how wattson taps it's head.

Hahaha yes well I think if I made every video about walruses somehow then my audience might grow tired of me hahahaha
Kudos to you for getting through that video without totally losing it (she said before she saw the outtakes).
Yeah we had a few takes for sure lol.
Lots of giggles in this episode, 😄 😂😆 and informative as always. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You really can't take this topic seriously. But you tried. And it was great!

Hahaha yes the sailors life seemed like a lonely one. Leave it to them to make phalluses out of everything

There are definitely lots of things wrong with all the Loch Ness theories lol

A false killer whale once peed on one of my guests during a program…
👍😂😂😂🤘
I love how you couldn’t keep your face straight while saying monstrous mammal members! LMFAO!!
Isn't there a scientific version of cryptozoology that studies the stories, rather than the alleged critters themselves?
Good question. I’m not sure. I would find that interesting as long as everyone was aware it was just fairytales

Without watching the video, the theory only has one real flaw I can see; I’m pretty sure there aren’t any whales in Loch Ness.
I would guess male whales have nipples for the same reason men have nipples, because women need them.
Believe it or not most male cetaceans don’t have nipples
