It has been a while since I have talked about my past career as an actor. Let's discuss five things I learned when I was working as an adult actor. Sexuality IS a spectrum, though some of us ARE at one extreme or the other.
It obviously takes alot of courage to be willing to so candidly discuss all that you have been through and hope that you will receive kind supportive comments. It seems so unimaginable to allow yourself to be filmed by a group of people no less!
Your honesty, optimism, and outlook are inspiring. You are wise beyond your years. I’d watch you even if you were reading a phone book.
Another great video, thanks ! The part on disassociating got me thinking. It's really too bad that the industry is so tough that this is what was needed. Because it takes time and effort to associate "back in again". Ideally, you should just be able to be yourself, with all weaknesses etc., which will naturally be overcome anyway, in these situations and even in work in general, within boundaries. I think in psychotherapy they talk about the fight/flight/freeze-appease response, and there aren't many more options. There are some great meditation-type videos by Roland Bal on this which I like, on overcoming past trauma with personality disassociation etc. Anyhow, I've caught myself in the same type of situations, just braving and stoically going through situations, persevering while blanketing out your personality, to achieve an outcome. It's maybe a necessary sacrifice to achieve an end. Awareness is in any case already a first key step in improving things. In acting, Johnny Depp refused many "mainstream"-type roles and movies, because he wanted to remain true to himself, even if it cost him income/success (though ironically he was after all really successful with his peculiarities and specifics). But he may really be an exception in that regard, having been able to get the best of both worlds.
Personal boundaries are very important to communicate and to keep. That will benefit you in the long run. Thanks for the advice. I hope you can post more often!

I loved the last section regarding self confidence and I will add that it is also about knowing your worth. Some excellent advice. I work in administration and accounting and even though I am not degreed in the field my vast experience allows me to capitalize on the topic. Life is tough if you are in the LGBT community but add in the fact that you have to work otherwise be homeless and it can be overwhelming at times. Your work only allows you the basics in living expenses and thus there is not even much left over to bear the expense of finding a companion. Add to the fact that you continue to get older and that only adds to the psychological burden of life. Add in things like AIDS and other STDs and the future looks bleak. I never understood back in the days why someone has AIDS and has no cares about spreading to others. Alcoholism and drug abuse rates way above average and the support is mince at best as we continue to be marginalized and used by society. I appreciate the advances made in the past decade but still many things to improve in. You are another great role model in today's lgbt community by investing your time and energy in sharing your thoughts and experiences. I do love that candle I bought from you a few months ago. It had a unique and wonderful aroma.

I’m amazed at many studios you worked with. Some times while I’m enjoying a different actor, you show up. Like Rocky Tate with a studio I didn’t know you worked for. The power of confidence can also be seen in confidence tricksters who inspire others to have confidence in them prior to being taken for ride. Confidence needs to be built on real, not imagined, ability and from that good reputations are built.
Fascinating to hear your recollectons. You are very thoughtful and observant. I am a lifelong student of human behavior (even studied it in college) and dissociating is really a red flag. Now everyone at times has to get in a certain mindset to face the things they need to, but splitting off from yourself shows you're really in an extreme situation. Glad you notice it in yourself! It seems really odd to me that the major studios interject such stress into the process of producing videos. From not preparing you for performing in front of an production crew to threats, it's so counterproductive. I could see this happening in a small operation, but not in an established studio.

Richie, what really comes through is your level of intelligence, far above that of any porn star IMHO. You’re in Mesa, ASU is right there, go get yourself an education, a profession. I would recommend psychology, or psychiatry, etc. You are a natural in that area.
Next, you frequently reference cognitive disassociate feelings. This is a known and treatable psychosis. Confront it head on or it will come to control you in later years.

Lesson 6: Make your bed. People whose beds are a mess never get anywhere in life. People who do make the bed after they get up in the morning - as you obviously do! - have their sh*t together, are organized and on the way up. Btw I live in Payson.
