This is one of the coolest sets I've seen. I love the guys wearing the hoods. I think hoods look cool. I may have to look for a set of these for myself one of these days.
Yes the Italian Army did use British webbing! They used their own home manufactured variant of 37 pattern well into the 1990s. I had the smaller figures, these big brothers are quite something!
As a kid I always loved the German Mountain troops from Airfix - I just loved the axes and grappling hooks etc - something different from the usual rifle poses - So those Atlantic figures look fantastic to my 7 year old self! I also loved the Airfix British support/artillery troops as they were also so exciting and different.
Hey Jerry, nice collection and video! I really love the Atlantic boxes. I'm a graphic designer and I think those old illustrations are so beautiful. They really capture the advertising for the era for the price point.
Good for you fellah. There is nothing but wonder in the things we love. I already know you have a passion for these little guys, and there is nothing wrong in that. Go ahead, indulge yourself. You have no obligation to anyone to justify why you like there little chaps. I am going to sit back and enjoy this retrospective just like any other. Best wishes to you Jerry. You are doing a grand job.
To get 1/72 scale mules I bought a game called "Trek" by Spears that not only had 18 of them but six Jeeps and dozens of crates. The mules were the same mid-brown colour as Airfix Wagon Train, the Jeeps were silver/grey and the crates were yellow. The moulding was simple but serviceable at 1/72 and allowed me to have mountain guns (cut down Airfix US Civil War Artillery guns mounted on the front wheels of the Airfix Wagon Train wagon) when my friends couldn't. You can still buy "Trek" on line.
Historically is a mix of 1940 and 1960s uniforms and equipment. A very fun set. I suggest the 1:72 scale diorama with alpini and the mountains. My father had it and i played as a kid and you can made a lot with them. The only bad side is few fighing moves and no gun crew. But if used with other sets are much fun
I like the guy on his snowmobile the most! My first thought was: "What ist he doing with a Vespa up there in the mountains?" 😂But as usual, a reilly weird and at the same time cool set of Atlantic! I like it!
The alpini set always fascinated me lol...I liked the sled a lot 😂 Great video brother As far accuracy the should had m1 grand or bm59... possibly carcano looking at the size. i think. unit was derivate from them but moved to defensive lines across the borders. The webbing could be British indeed..maybe mod 56
I didn't see the 1/32 Atlantic figures in the UK. Their 1/72nd scale sets were easily available. I think the kindest thing to say about them, is they were of their time.
Can't say ive ever seen any of those back in the day. They look kind of in between WWII and cold war maybe? The guy climbing reminds me kind of movies Where Eagles Dare and Guns Of Navarone climbing on the way up the cliff face. The machine gun on his back looks like one of the Stormtrooper blaster Rifles seen in Star Wars. Unusual but nice figures i love the little donkey. Interesting collection.🙂👋🇭🇲✌️👍
@@caw25sha Oh my! Your right. The Heroes Of Telemark. Short memory in my old age. I have that movie it's a good one. Kirk Douglas and one of my greek background actors George Chakiris and other actors names I don't remember. Occasionally I remember a couple of names here and there. I've not watched a few war films for a while. You've just encouraged me to watch that .Thanks for the heads up.🙂👍🇭🇲🦘👋
i mentioned on a previous post, that I loved the German mountain troops, There was something about the ski's and horses and bikes (in the 1:72) sets, these Atlantic in 1:32 are fantastic. the cold war aspect makes them a little extra cool in my eyes, being a child of the 70's...I may even see if I can purchase a set, ebay here we come....Thank you again for another fab post, it has become a weekly favorite that really sets me up in a positive mood.
if you want a more dynamic airfix mountain troop skier you can make a good one from one of the two connected rope climbing figures and the extra skis and sticks that come with the set...i saw this conversion on a plastic general video
Many years ago I read an article in a magazine about the Italian 105mm howitzer which could be dismantled into small parts. There were photos of one in pieces being carried up a mountain on several donkeys. That would make an interesting model! Is the gun on wheels a Maxim? If so they were very ancient by the 1960s.
the box art on the WW2 German troops looks like a reproduction of an illustration from the book Universal Soldier of the 1970's 80's from the section Jurgen Stemple
@@toysoldiernostalgia been out of print for years but sometimes it's on ebay or Amazon ,each chapter describes a snapshot of the life of an ordinary soldier from early history to WW2
could the rifle be a variant of the M38 Carcano? The M38 was a bolt action rifle that was in use in the Italian army from 1891-1981, in various variants.
HAVE ABOUT 4 SETS OF THESE IN 1/72 SCALE,THEY WORK WELL WITH AIRFIX GERMANS MOUNTAIN TROOPS FOR WARGAMES.THESE LARGE ONE COULD BE GETTING TO ATTACK SANTA WORKSHOP AT THE NORTH POLE.TAKE CARE
Awesome set! Definitely a 007 vibe. Growing up in snowy New England my friends and I loved anything with skis 🎿. 😊
They'd look great in a diorama.

Still very cool... Never seen them before.
Clay green is very nice color👌

That´s why I like boxes so much. They realy show of design and colors of the time.

Those Atlantic diorama sets cost a good chunk of change. But maybe if this channel grows a lot I could afford them :)
No politics, no war, just toys.
Thanks, pal.
No problem bud.
Top video as always
Thanks :)

Well done Jerry, always a great video. Tempting to start collecting Atlantic!
It´s fun but they are quit expensive.
Cool stuff. Its Bond meets Die Hard meets ww2 😊
That´s a good one.

Thanks for the kind words man.
If you want to get a set of these be aware that the rock face is often missing.

I can´t see that this looks like any real gun.

I always regretted that Atlantic went with Italian Cold War Italian sets rather than Italian WWII sets.
I would have been cool with a bunch of different Italian ww2 units.
It must be "of the time" because in the UK it wasn't just me and my brother used these "James Bonds"!!

In italy are very common. Jerry, do you know the Dulcop soldiers?
I have seen Dulcop on Ebay but haven´t bought any yet or learned about the company. Some day :)

Never actually owned any Atlantic figures- they made some weird stuff!
These soldiers look like they were sculpted from soap.😂😂
The details are much less precise and fine than on the Airfix toy soldiers.🧐
