  • Another very useful tool was added to our workshop with the structure that we made this time. It is a ‘positioner table’ that can be useful for a great range of areas related to the MAKING of structures.

    Very resourceful, creative, and inventive. He must have been a mechanical engineer in a previous life. I've been on many youtube channels on fabrication and I've never seen so many watching them as I've seen on this one.

    “The decline of handicrafts in modern times is perhaps one of the causes for the rise of frustration”
    ― Eric Hoffer, The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements
    Hoffer explains why this channel is so popular, People are just dying to create something from scratch and if this not possible then the next best thing is to watch someone else create something from scratch. I'll never have the need for a rotary positioner table but nonetheless I have to admit that I find these videos are satisfying to watch.

      I have one of those. They do cut extremely well, but the shavings/curlings, whatever you want to call them are VICIOUS. Not for the home garage shop.

  • @xysix2548
    @xysix2548 8 лет назад +2

    Your ideas are wonderfully imaginative.
    I see at 5:05 the ground clamp is attached to the main frame during that particular welding operation. That hookup takes the welding current thru the ball bearings, and sparking on the ball surfaces as it goes. Is that ok, or am I missing something?
    I noticed when you weld you leave your arms uncovered. I get welder-flash really bad when I do that.

    How is the table grounded for welding, does the ground run through the motor?

    • @jenngill7772
      @jenngill7772 7 лет назад

      Better to use a "wiper" ground on the shaft right below the table than going thru the motor. Arcs from the welding will fry the motor windings quickly! Look at any squirrel cage fan and you'll see that the motor is grounded to the fan body to prevent arcing across the bearings. "Floating grounds" cause more problems than most people realize.
