Hi - I am retired US Army and have been traveling and cruising recently completed 69-cruises and visited 61-UN countries. I have been approached and asked if I am interested in started travel business. I am interested in learning so I can help fellow veterans with their travel needs and also possibly plan for Marines, Army, Air Forces birthday cruises. Thanks for sharing this video!
Hi I am currently in the military and before my term is up, I want to start focusing on my next career. I love everything about traveling and super friendly. I would love a few points on how to start, including finding training, certain, agencies to look at. Etc
Thank you for the information. This video was made before the pandemic, how have things evolved since then? I am seriously thinking about taking the training to become a travel agent as a replacement carreer. The work I do now involves a lot of physical labour and at some point it will be hard to do as I get closer to 60 years old. I just subscribed and will look at your other videos but informations about maybe step by step suggestions on where to start would be great.
Hello Sisi, You have been so informative. I guess I better see what I want right now. I am looking for to become a travel agent. Hope I will go throught it. Thank you very much fo sharing! Take care!
Dear Sisi, I liked your video very much. It was very informative and realistic. So, I'd like to ask you a bold question: I applied for a job as a travel agent, and they invited me to an online meeting. It was very suggestive, showing all the possibilities of this job, especially the perks of being a travel agent. At the end of the video, they made an offer: we should pay 80 dollars monthly to receive training and get our travel agent license. They would charge 18% of all commissions but didn't give us any guarantee that we would work for them. It wasn't clear if we should start from nothing our travel agency or would work for them. Now the question: is it a real job, or is it just a way for them to make money by charging fees and not ensuring any results?
What are the best host agencies for somebody that's brand new to the industry? I don't even know what are the most credible courses for me to invest in. I've been researching like crazy. Could anybody offer me any guidance, tips, and advice? Open to any suggestions and your feedback's genuinely appreciated. Thank you for reading up to here. Much love to you & Take care of yourself!
Hi Ally, I'm sorry for the delay in response. My best suggestion would be to look at hostagencyreviews.com/ to find the perfect agency for you. They have a lot of great resources. Thank you for the kind comment & take care also! :)
Hi Glen, Great to see you getting started in the travel industry! This is gross income calculated from my produced sales within a calendar year. We have an established travel agency within our community so many of my clients are referrals and repeat clients. I hardly do enough marketing as I should for our business, but this is very important in the beginning stages of your growth to make connections and build relationships with clients. One of my biggest accomplishments to drive new business over the last few years is online reviews via google/website/etc. I highly recommend you start building an online reputation and the leads will come. Hope this helps! Happy selling and traveling!
If in 2018 you made $59,000 in commissions, what was your total in sales that year? And same question for 2019 at $46,000 in commissions what was your total in sales that year?
hi Im a customer service representative in covermore insurance. I got all my exp from work, Im thinking to open an travel agency in Australia eventhough I'm located in the Philippines. How can I start my own travel agency?
a. Were you working full time 2016-2019? b. What is the most profitable travel market niche for agents? c. At least initially I would like to work under a host agency, specializing in "Cruise Vacation Sales". d. I would like working from home (Houston, TX), am prepared to invest in acquiring tools and training etc. without grand expectations. I also have native level proficiency in English and experience in big ticket sales Please help me connect with host agencies and specialty training programs.
a. Yes b. I can not speak for all advisors, but my most profitable areas are All Inclusive vacations and FIT travel (building custom travel packages for my clients and charging a flat service fee). The least profitable areas are ocean cruises (again, not speaking for all Travel Advisors), but river cruises and guided vacations can be very profitable (it is just not my niche). c. see above d. My best suggestion would be to look at hostagencyreviews.com/ to find the perfect agency for you. They have great resources.
Hello what's the best way to get certification to become a travel agent? What is the best company to choose and is there a fee required to become an agent?
Hi Toni, To answer your question directly, there is no specific certification needed to become a travel advisor with a host agency. However, if you are looking to own a Travel Agency with certifications, I recommend IATA or CLIA certifications depending on the type of travel you will be booking. It is common for Travel Advisors to start with a host agency first for a few years before venturing to create a business and get these certifications. My best suggestion to get started as a Travel Advisor is to sign up with a host agency and get experience to see if this a career you are looking to build. Experience in 2 areas: - 1. Experience in traveling: You must visit the destinations and experience the products you are selling to your clients - 2. Customer service experience and knowledge in the types of travel packages you sell (There is a lot to do on the back end. We sometimes go lengths for clients by staying on top of emails, making connections with their resort, quickly contacting airlines if needed, and knowing all policies and procedures of the company they are booked with).
Great honest video, nice to see someone who isn’t stating unrealistic goals and earnings. You’re doing well.
