Thank you so so so much for an encouraging me to keep making them. That's awesome. When you start you have no idea if anyone is going to watch them let alone enjoy them so thank you. And good idea about extinguisher. I have couple at work so I'll bring one home. That's an excellent point! With me welding in top of wooden bench. Mind you I did buy finally a metal bench 😁👌👌 thanks again
I bet. There are amazing machines. When I bought mine I didn't even know what I bought. I knew it was a Harley but even I googled the engine number meaning I almost fell off a chair. I love doing research and learning new things. The hardest part was waiting for parcels to come to new Zealand. Done crucial items took months.
I have a 1970 XLCH. LOVE that thing. Engine was in 3 boxes when I bought it. Took me about 3 weeks to aquire parts and reassemble the engine. Rode the snot out of it! Now it's ready for another overhaul, which is coming soon. I have an EVO sportster, but it's nothing like the Ironhead.
that is a good go to get the bike running, and yeah they are so much fun to ride, I love changing gears, the big clank when they slot in. nothing like it :))) thanks for comment!!!!!
I just happened to see your video. I admire your persistence and forging ahead. I really give you a lot of credit for not giving up and putting another vintage Iron head back on the road! Hey, that’s worth subscribing to my friend. I just started a new small channel featuring iron heads as well. Just having a little fun wrenching in the garage like you. Take care.
Hi. Thank you so much. No the gear looked new and definitely not worn or. Judging by every tooth being the same on the gear. But the geometry was all wrong. Much thicker teeth. The peak of each tooth was about 2mm wider then on the second hand i bought. Much fatter teeth.
Yeah two things. Detonation very early and I had plug wires front to back. I did think it doesn't matter where the plug wires went, which way but it made a huge difference
Keep it real on the ironheads!! Love it!
Thanks bro! 👌👌👌👍👍👍

Excellent video, the 1st gear problem you had, and you bought a new one; was the gear worn or wrong gear?
You have done well man, most respect

Cool build.. what made you think to pull the head..why did the top of the piston become burnt up..predetonation or a vacuume leak..??
