    Get blackout curtains and a white noise machine for nap time!!!

      well the fan should work as a white noise machine, but I would recommend some light blocking curtains that they can keep tied back until they need them...because eventually they will need them for naptime.

      This 100%! We waited way too long in regards to blackout curtains. Things could have been so much easier! Not only naps, but helps them go to bed earlier/wake up later at nighttime/morning. Especially now that I’ve got a toddler with a toddler bed!

So special that you got it on video...I wish I had thought to do that. I noticed that they tend to move the most when you’re relaxed. When you’re walking or moving around, your movements rock him to sleep. So sweet! 💙

      Here is my question: If we get blackout curtains so it's always dark when the baby is sleeping won't that force the baby to only be able to sleep when it's dark and make it harder to put them down for a nap during the day when they are older and at school, daycare, or when we are out somewhere and there are no blackout curtains?

    • @maeghanlovejoy
      @maeghanlovejoy 5 лет назад +3

      @@TheTimTracker nope, we bought some cute black out curtains for both of my kids when they were babies. 9 and 5 now and they have zero problem catching some zzz's when needed. But when you are sleep training and clinging to your own zzz's those black out curtains will help with naps or that lovely morning first sun!

    Beautiful nursery!❤️
    You’ll want black out curtains for the baby to nap and sleep in in the morning. Though it does look really nice and clean now.
    Also get a second diaper trash can by the other changing table.
    Side note, I often changed diapers on the floor on a changing pad or a bed.

      This is the 4th comment saying this, but I'll ask the same thing. Won't that teach him to only sleep when it's dark? Like if we go to a hotel where there are no blackout curtains won't it be hard to put him down because he would need complete darkness?

    • @beckypurplepetal1852

      Many years ago on the Today Show, they had a baby specialist giving sleeping tips for babies. And the one thing I remember from her segment was when she said blacking out the room during your baby’s nap time will help teach them to eventually have a regular sleeping schedule during the night because they will know, when it’s dark, that means it’s time to sleep.

      @TheTimTracker  5 лет назад +11

      Everyone keeps saying blackout curtains, but won't that get him used to sleeping only when it's dark? I think of it like how everyone says to not be quiet when he is sleeping to get him used to sleeping through noises.

    • @WaltKristiWorld

      @@TheTimTracker people do it both ways. I don't have blackout curtains, but ours are very thick and block most of the light. She does nap good in there (7.5 months now), BUT now she won't nap longer than 30 minutes anywhere else! She HAS to have a dark room to sleep well. So it's kind of a catch 22. I almost wish I hadn't done dark curtains so she would sleep better without them 🤷‍♀️Also, the day/night confusion seems to not be an issue after the first few weeks? That's just what I was told. I didn't start using dark curtains until like 8 weeks ish? She'd sleep in broad daylight before then! I kinda miss those days cause I could sneak cute little pictures of her while she was sleepin.

    • @teamsmith05

      I never had blackout curtains 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just blinds and she can sleep thru anything. Noise is the only Must from this mommy. All babies are different so you’ll figure out what he likes in no time. Most mommies swear by swaddling and my little girl HATED it!! She was happy as a lamb when she was spread out and she’s like that now at 16 lol. @Nimeariel 5 лет назад

      Even growing up in CT, I used to HATE having to go to bed when it was still light out during the summer months at 7-8pm, even as a young child. Now that I'm grown up and living in SC, and have the ability to realize that sometimes naps are good for me, I still dislike being able to see light peeking through the shades. I agree with blackout curtains!!

    • @TheTimTracker
      @TheTimTracker  5 лет назад +3

      Everyone keeps saying this, but I feel like it's along the lines of making noise while he sleeps to get him use to sleeping through noise. If he gets use to sleeping while there is still light then he can sleep anywhere.

    • @Nimeariel
      @Nimeariel 5 лет назад

      @@TheTimTracker This is very true! I am a very light sleeper, but my husband can sleep through anything. Sometimes I wish I could be like him- he can sleep anywhere, any time. So maybe you're on to something! I guess it will just depend on what the baby prefers. I used to sleep with a night light as a child but only recently did having lights on bother me. I still don't like sunshine, though, unless I'm just that tired.

    • @areyoutacotome
      @areyoutacotome 5 лет назад

      @@TheTimTracker Very true. I think it all depends on the specific child too. You'll learn your little guys habits, what helps him sleep soundly, and develop a routine tailored to him. Plus, in the beginning they sleep through anything so it's not even something parents even need to consider until they're learning to sleep independently.

    I love it when babies move around in the last trimester. I used to sit for ages and watch my daughter kick around. It's so cool. The room looks beautiful. Go for black out curtains but get them in a light colour. ☺

    Blackout curtains are much needed. Perfect for naps!

    • @TheTimTracker

      Here is my question: If we get blackout curtains so it's always dark when the baby is sleeping won't that force the baby to only be able to sleep when it's dark and make it harder to put them down for a nap during the day when they are older and at school, daycare, or when we are out somewhere and there are no blackout curtains?

    • @Ashleyisblahh
      @Ashleyisblahh 5 лет назад

      @@TheTimTracker I honestly think it is going to depend on your baby. I have a 4 year old and a 9 month old. The 4 year old always slept fine everywhere, curtains or not. But my 9 month old is a little demon nugget when it comes to sleep. He just wasnt napping from day one. And when you, and him, are sleep deprived and just completely exhausted, you may find yourself trying anything for a good nap. That was me. I researched and saw something about if it's too light in their room then it can mess up their circadian rhythm. I put up blackout curtains, used a sound machine on white noise, and his naps got a lot better. He wasnt cranky all the time anymore since he was sleeping more, and my mental health improved. And believe it or not, he sleeps fine without blackout curtains when he is out and about as well. In the car, at a hotel, at grandparents houses ect.
      I say wait and see. If you find your little one isnt napping well, then try the curtains. Parenting is all trial and error, since every baby is different. 💙

    Yes on black out curtains!! They help with naps tremendously. They also help baby sleep longer in the morning. Just open them while baby is awake and close them just for sleep. Keeping the room bright during awake times and dark during sleep times REALLY helps get baby on a sleeping schedule. My kiddo is almost 4 and we still use black out curtains. They saved our sleep and sanity!

      Melissa Eaton I was going to say the same thing! Especially in the Florida sun, the blinds are NOT enough to block out enough light and it can help to keep in cooler in there.

      Nichole Bird my kid is in my room (one bedroom apartment) with the tv on all the time and sunlight or lamp light in the room constantly. Sleeps fine as long as he’s not hungry or gassy. It just teaches them to be dependent on the blinds and darkness. My mom didn’t do that with any of her 5 children and we all slept just fine except for a few months with my brother after his autism got severe.

    Blackout curtains are needed for Florida babies! Helps to keep the nursery cool plus stops sunlight waking them up (especially when the clocks change). Ross have some lovely ones, sometimes. The nursery looks beautiful ❤

The joy in your voices when you talk about him is better than the most wonderful song. The way you look at each other with support & love is inspiring! I am glad I get to watch this journey! When he finally enters the world, please don't feel obligated to take time away from those precious first moments to share with us. We will get plenty of time with the Tracker Baby, I am sure! Those first few days/weeks are the most amazing time EVER! I'm so excited for you, Trackers!!! Much love!!

    I’m taking a child’s lit class and one of the “textbooks” is The Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. And I’ve only gotten a few chapters in but it’s amazing and I think you guys would like it. It’s even talks about how reading aloud in one’s third trimester is really beneficial and continuing to do so has a lot of good thing and binding moments
