Great analysis and comments by both Matt and Phil. I subscribed. Falcon’s fan here, and I lean towards Matt’s view, Kirk is 2nd and has 8 games to prove himself. Falcons have to go to the play-offs for Kirk to be the starter 2nd year. Penix will be QB by 2026 at the latest. Kirk does have the edge as far as OC’s go because Robinson, the new Falcon OC, runs a system much like O’Connell’s in Minnesota. That might bring Cousins up to a tie for first place with Mayfield.
Everyone is caught up with the $$$, Penix is going to impress in practice and preseason which will accelerate everything in the minds of coaches and players.
Sorta funny that our 3rd QB actually might beat alot of the other QB's in the division as well. Taylor Heinecke is a pretty good backup QB in his own right over the years.
He's top of the list in passing rating since 2016 and he's on top of play action passing and he have got more money than anybody in the NFL and 2022 lead his team to 13-4 record.
I don’t understand how after 10 years of playing on many quality teams and still only winning one playoff game anybody can think Cousins (or any other QB in those same shoes) will ever be more than a mid level regular season NFL QB
@@SimmsComplete Kirk and Derek have almost identical stats, Baker, it’s his 2nd year in NFL with ok record, and Saints and Bucks at 9-8 finished season, Atlanta had horrible defense, I don’t understand why so many think that Atlanta is so much better with Kirk. last year Saints didn’t have any good offense coaching and play calls were terrible. With kubiak we will have fun to watch Saints. Let’s go Saints!
Now I know why Chris Simms is always hating on Derek Carr! His whole family is a bunch of Carr haters. News flash... Derek Carr is better than Phil or Chris ever was at QB! And he is the BEST QB in the NFC South! Who Dat!
I could'nt help but laugh at this statement. Derek is better than me (Matt Simms) no debating that haha, we could debate Derek and Chris since Chris' career was cut short by injury, but Derek and Phil, come on man.
@@SimmsComplete now comparing Derek and Phil idk Phil got jewelry and was clutch in the playoff run I can say gmen defense carried him thru the season tho
Baker is more talented than you think. And Michael Penix might have more talent than a lot of QB's in the NFL, we know to win though it's more than just talent.
Baker playoff wins 2, Kirk 1,......The NFC South STILL runs threw Champa Bay. 😏

To me, there should be a numerical way to discover who is Hall of Famer, or at least who should be in consideration for being a hall of famer.
I came up with a point scale. :
Pro Bowl: 1 point
2nd all bro: 1 point. (pro bowl + second team all pro = 2 points)
All pro : 2 points ( Pro bowl + all pro = 3 in total)
starter on Conference Champion team: 1 point

Winner of an nfl award: 2 points (rookie of the year, dpoy, opoy, )
Winner of the two prestigious nfl awards: 3 points: (MVP, super bowl mvp, Walter Payton MOY)
To be considered a hall of famer must have at least 10
Phil Simms:
2 time starter in conference champion: 2 points
2 time super bowl winner: 2 points
2 time pro bowler: 2 points
1 time super bowl mvp: 3 points
1 time walter payton man of the year: 3 points
Total: 12 points: should be in the hall of fame
Comparison:
Jim Kelly:
Pro bowl : 5 points
All pro : 2 points
second team all pro: 1 point
starter on a conference champion: 4 points
Total : 12 points: is in the hall of fame
Other interesting examples
Randall Cunningham: 13 points : should be in the hall of fame
Phillip Rivers : 8 probowls + 2 points for comeback player of the year for total: 10 points (borderline) but imo should be in the hall of fame
Tony Romo: 8 points
Matt Ryan: 4 time pro bowl: 4
1 all pro : 2
1 offensive player of the year : 2
1 offensive rookie of the year: 2
1 starter in a conference championship: 1
1 nfl MVP : 3 points
Total: 14 points on
Is this specific to QB’s?

Phil should absolutely not be in the hall of Fame. His team carried him.
@@elreydavid1857 Disagree. To me, his resume is just as good as Jim Kelly who is in the hall of fame.
There's another Simms ranking all the QBs as well. He played on my favorite team before his spleen was ruptured.
Chris simms lol Jon gruden killed em...

Bucs will win the Division for the 4th time in a row. And it will be because of Baker.
Sorta funny that our 3rd QB actually might beat alot of the other QB's in the division as well. Taylor Heinecke is a pretty good backup QB in his own right over the years.
Ya’ll had to make up philosophies to explain Carr at 3. You have to consider who their Offensive Coordinator was, Pete Carmichael.
Baker is 2-2 in playoffs, Kirk and and Carr are 0-1. This is easy.
@MosheGoldbergTheKing that order seems pretty spot on
Go ahead Matt 💪🏼
Cousins will be destroyed by that buc defense 😂
Kirk is a tough S.O.B tho
Destroyed! I doubt it, Bucs couldn’t destroy Ridder! Make it make sense!
i live a good jk. keep it up
if yall couldnt destroy ridder how could you possibly say that about kirk
Amazing Kurt hasn’t taken 1 snap in the nfc south and he’s the best in the south 🤣🤣🤣. Plus tell me what he has accomplished……. I’ll wait…..

@@CharlesJones-pm6qj and hasn’t won a damn thing… what his playoffs records… Super Bowl rings??? I’ll wait
Cousins not clutch. AT ALL. Not a gamer, not a leader. Weak sauce Cousins. Over rated as hell!
I think you could say that about every QB in this Division, somebody had to be #1.
Baker beat Kirk last year and the Minnesota roster is far better than ATLs lmfao.
And Desmond Ridder beat Baker almost beat him twice too. So unless you’re trying to sell me that Ridder is a better qb than Kirk id quiet down
Far betters a reach
falcons roster is better lol
Know what’s crazy? Actually compare baker and carrs numbers. Look at QBR. You think that baker was better but it was actually Carr
If you watch & listen to our show more, Big Phil and I don't think very highly of QBR
dont matter. dont know why you fighting over a #2 or #3 spot. kirk and even penix could be the top 2
Honestly idk if yall really watch the nfc south bc baker not the best n the division at all he didnt sweep n.o or outay derek at all @SimmsComplete
Falcons major problem last year was the qb position yes we did need er but the sf was ok to keep us n the game rise up falcons 👍👍👍👍
Leggette remind me of alshon Jeffery
I like that
Baker > Kirk
Kirk Cousins is the best quarterback in the division. And this is coming from a Saints fan.
If they are fighting for a wild card spot its a good year
I’m glad somebody is man enough to admit it.
Baker will be #1 next year. Kirk can barely win a playoff game.
I don’t understand how after 10 years of playing on many quality teams and still only winning one playoff game anybody can think Cousins (or any other QB in those same shoes) will ever be more than a mid level regular season NFL QB
They tried to run but couldnt
Saints will win NFC South, watch closely, Carr is still the best in coming back and winning games in fourth quarter
😂
I need to see that to believe that. Derek is good I just think Baker and Kirk to be more consistently productive.

Cousins is EASILY the best QB in the NFC South. Baker Mayfield played admirably last season but he is not in the same class as Cousins.

Carr's overrated by casuals. Glad my Raiders let him go because he'll never win a game outright by pure talent
