How to play Maokai:
Go full AP, spam goblins ( 3 skill ) on bushes 24/7, get a penta while recalling, jungle diff 🧑🍳

I think 2 seasons ago, Beefy AP Maokai was a meta in LoL esports. People would build demonic embrace (gives AP and HP). Maokai is commonly played in jungle (because vision control) however you'll also see Maokai in top and support. These days with the change in items you see more tank Maokai than AP Maokai.
You think AP Malphite was bad wait till you see AP Maokai😈oh and Maokai is better in the jungle he gets bullied in top lane by better champs fit for the role💯

Maokai's third ability normally would be buffed (last longer, more damage) if you throw it in a bush.
However, it actually deals the same amount of damage wether its buffed or not, to the jungle camps. That means when playing jungle maokai, you should use your E directly on the jungle creeps so that it immediately explodes and reduces clear time

Maokai can be played baron but i like him as a support/dragon lane Coz of his skill sets ,as a personal preference.But hes still fairly good champ in baron lane..i usually counter him with Mundo since 95% of maokai Disabling/stun/rooting skill including ulti effects will be neglected By mundos passive.And even as AP build, maokai damAge against mundo is low compared to regular AP baron lane champ.Still a nice vid by the way 😊

In PC league competitive maokai is generally played as a tank jungle. I also thought in wild rift he would be a good tank jungle option but i guess they need to buff the clear speed in order to do so. Let's see what happens after release, excited for him
The passive is rlly strong because the cooldown reduces everytime you attack or take damage, so playing tank maokai you can heal a lot
Not sure if they changed it or not but in pc his 2nd ability can follow champion like zeri if she jump on long wall, he can follow her.
You can push back lee seen, because mechanic maokai 1st skill is the same mechanic gragas dashe (3d skill)

What you need to do is go to the enemy jungle pick a bush and set up a massive third ability trap. You can stack them on top of each other. That’s how you play ap maokai
One of maokai’s tip, if you want to use his ult at point blank, and you want the immediate root, use it at a 90 degree angle
With ability haste this guy is one of the scariest guys in history of Tree Kind

I really can’t wait for Maokai. He does seem rather mana hungry so I was curious about both Rod of Ages and Winter’s Approach just to increase the mana pool while also giving Mao some more HP, AP, and a shield once WP upgrades. Spirit Visage also feels obligatory on Mao.
Update: I changed my theory craft build for Mao. I’m gonna go for Sunfire Aegis, Rod of Ages, Warmong’s Armor, Spirit Visage, and Twinguard, with Mana Boots. I really like the idea of an unkillable Mao where the only time he needs to recall is to buy an item and not for mana or health regen.
Not sure if it's the same as pc but on pc ability 3 price twice in bush on pc helps clear
In pc, u can actually interrupt somebody's dash with his 1st skill. Here, idk whether they code it. Also, spoiler for non PC lol players he plays in 3 to 4 roles. He can play jg, sp, baron lane and maybe Mid as semitank.
It should be able to interrupt dashes unless they r not unstoppable
He's gonna be one of the best tanks
